Kinetic 0 Report post Posted September 3, 2008 It'd have to be between the Dionne Warwick and the Dusty Springfield, I guess. This song gets to me. I always get a little choked up. Except for during the White Stripes cover. That's a joke.
Smartly Pretty 0 Report post Posted September 3, 2008 I don't have a problem with the White Stripes cover. I like Isaac Hayes' the best though.
Kinetic 0 Report post Posted September 3, 2008 Even better. My favorite Bacharach song and one of my favorites by anyone:

Kinetic 0 Report post Posted September 4, 2008 You people are nuts. I know the guy just died and all, but his take on that song is seven minutes long. And the White Stripes version is just the Dusty Springfield but with a lot of screaming. Any halfway decent garage band in the country could have done that. King Kamala 0 Report post Posted September 4, 2008 Sorry Kinetic my buddy but I like The Hayes version the best and I liked it the best long before he died. There's something about incredibly epic, soulful Bacharach covers that gets to me. His version of "By The Time I Get To Phoenix" is a bit excessive though. Hate to rain on your parade, Kinetic but what do you guys think is the best version of this Tim Hardin classic?
