Why is it that good rappers like 2pac, Biggie, Pimp C etc. die before their time yet goons like Souljah Boy continue to live and pollute the airwaves?

The same reason that Cliff Burton, Euronymous, Chuck Schuldiner, Jon Nodtveit (sp.?), and Dimebag Darrell are dead: the best die first, having lived their purpose, and the worst stick around to remind you how good the best really were.

If you're just like some sort of musical version of the Punisher (or perhaps the Sin Eater...

Then yes. But I think if you want to make a name for yourself, you're better off killing somebody with talent.

Yeah, like the anonymous person that killed Biggie. Or Tupac. Or the lunatic gunman that shot Dimebag Darrell. Even Mark David Chapman wasn't really interested in making a name for himself. John Hinckley Jr. shot Reagan because he wanted to impress Jodie Foster. Who hasn't been there? I'm just saying that killing Soulja Boy would generate just as many headlines as killing, say, Kanye West. And even if, like Soulja Boy, the guy was a flash in the pan, you'd make a sort of martyr of him, so both he and you would be enduring. I don't think there's any added benefit to killing someone who's well-liked or acclaimed.

Tupac and Biggie Smalls weren't assassinated. Them niggas got shot. That was beef on the streets. It's all politics.

I do see your point, and there's plenty of other reasons to kill someone famous besides making a name for yourself. Just being crazy, for one. Like Nathan Gale, or even Richard Ramirez, who both believed (or so it's speculated) in psychic/Satanic connections with bands. Would you be more crazy if you believed you were telepathically connected with Soulja Boy, or just stupider?

Killing popular artists would be more of an old west thing, rather than a crazy thing. Euronymous, at least, was killed at least partially for reputation and notoriety.

Guest Brady's Torn ACL

I got a little ahead of myself on this splinoff and realized there were only like five or six posts, but I didn't want to go back and uncheck all the selected posts, so ahead I went.

In the same way that killing mediocre posters would up the level of quality at TSM, I agree. But where does it stop? Some people don't deal well with pressure. What if I told you that your response to this better be A+, spot-on brilliant or you and your loved ones would be slaughtered by Bob Baron and his band of psychotic dwarves? You'd be concerned. Your post would be below average. And, unfortunately, you'd suffer the consequences.

Am I an asshole for suggesting that Biggie and Tupac are dead for associating with known gang members and no doubt amassing many enemies along the way and Pimp C is dead because he overdosed on SIZ-ZURP?

Meanwhile, Soulja Boy is just a happy-go-lucky teenager who enjoys playing "Braid" on Xbox Live Arcade and doing the BIRD WALK. Also, Soulja Boy is better than Biggie.

That's an interesting query.

What would be better: Souljah Boy dead with a slight possibility of martyrdom OR Souljah Boy living with a strong possibility of obscurity sliding?

who can decide:

YOUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU!

Cuz Bill Hicks was right

I have this free CD that I got with a newspaper: The Best of British Comedy (and Bill Hicks). This was obviously compiled by nationalists, so I think that it speaks for his comedic ability pretty well that a sketch of his was included. 'What Is Pornography?' indeed.
