Obi Chris Kenobi 0 Report post Posted November 28, 2008 Star Wars: The Old Republic Format: PC Release: TBC Website: http://www.swtor.com/ Bioware are doing a Star Wars MMO based on their successful Old Republic Franchise. Is this the death of Star Wars Galaxies (SWG) even though that died a while back. http://www.eurogamer.net/article.php?article_id=265389 - Preview Article http://www.eurogamer.net/gallery.php?game_...ticle_id=320751 - Pictures

Agent_Bond34 0 Report post Posted November 28, 2008 I'd rather see KOTOR 3 Agreed. After what happened with KOTOR II, I really want KOTOR III.
Obi Chris Kenobi 0 Report post Posted November 29, 2008 I wouldn't be surprised if this continued on from there. The message, in essence, is this: with Star Wars: The Old Republic, BioWare is doing things differently. This game is not Star Wars Galaxies 2, nor is it Knights of the Old Republic 3. (Actually, according to BioWare, it's KOTOR 3, 4, 5 and beyond, but more on that later.) It may be set in the same time period as Knights of the Old Republic, but it's an MMO as well as an RPG. It will include the same features you'd expect from traditional MMORPGs, but BioWare is throwing new elements into the mix.
El Psycho Diablo 0 Report post Posted November 29, 2008 I also have a sneaking feeling that EA's purchase of Bioware was heavily influenced by this project.
Obi Chris Kenobi 0 Report post Posted November 29, 2008 To be fair, this has so far been a decent year for EA - Dead Space Madden 09 Fifa 09 NHL 09 All being good games and better then expected. I think when the EA guy said that they were going to do things different he actually meant it! However, after seeing how well WoW has done, I wouldn't be surprised if EA are looking for a Cash Cow too. If I'm honest, it looks awesome so far, even though its just pictures, but it looks more promising then SWG (which was my first taste of an MMO after PSO) and I'd probably look to give it a go when it comes out. Obi Chris Kenobi 0 Report post Posted March 16, 2009 BioWare has confirmed that it will have a Bounty Hunter class in its Star Wars MMO, The Old Republic. The Boba Fett-style class joins the already-revelaed Jedi and Sith. In the video, a Bounty Hunter is shown using blasters and a jet-pack in combat. "Many other classes" are in development, according to lead designer James Ohlen. Each class will get its own epic story arc, in addition to the main storyline of the game, said lead writer Daniel Erickson. http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/bounty-h...-class-in-swtor This really is turning into what Star Wars: Galaxies should have been. Conspiracy_Victim 0 Report post Posted March 17, 2009 I'm interested in seeing how they balance the other classes with the Jedi and Sith, unless they are like uberclasses.
Angles Broken Fricken Neck 0 Report post Posted March 17, 2009 It will probably work like KOTOR lightsabres have a slightly higher attack power, but can easily be stopped by a well equiped melee or guns opponent.
dubq 0 Report post Posted March 18, 2009 Galaxies was awful, IMO. I wonder if this will be more of the same? That said I can't really get into MMO's anymore. I just don't have the time. I'd love to, but it ain't gonna happen. Though I'll probably try to (and fail at) getting into the DC MMO when it comes out on PS3.
