Silence 0 Report post Posted December 16, 2008 Don't forget Don West's always present during an AJ Styles match, "HE HIT HIM WITH THE PELE!" Kind of odd for West to be calling moves anyway since he's the color commentator.
lee_hero 0 Report post Posted December 16, 2008 That's the only move I ever hear him call. His excitement when AJ hits the Pele is unmatched.
CubbyBr 0 Report post Posted December 16, 2008 Or you could tell them everything so they know where to lead the audience but when it comes to something you want to them to react 'naturally' still tell them everything but also tell them to react naturally as if they didn't know that particular thing was going to happen. Otherwise, you risk getting a reaction that is counterproductive to what it is you're trying to get across. There's no sense in leaving something out of your control when you don't have to and can still get the result you want. The thing with Tenay and West is that they've shown an inability to react naturally to anything. With someone like JR he knows how to react to something big naturally, mostly by just being quite. Tenay and West are incapable of doing that. And Again, just because you don't give the announcers every detail of a certain angle doesn't mean that you've lost your ability to steer the the angle in the way you want it to play out. You can give announcers a basic rundown of where you're going with an angle, and let them run off of that. They will still give the vibe you're wanting, and it doesn't come across as contrived. Giving them a blow for blow script prevents them from being natural and relaxed. They focus more on "Don't want to miss calling this certain spot this certain way" than actually calling what's going on and that hurts the product.
