Guest Smues Report post Posted January 10, 2009 Given that we have like half a dozen computers in my house I decided that I'm going to risk one and install the beta. If it ever finishes downloading. The beta was launched yesterday but due to high demand they took it down for awhile and I'm just now able to start the download. It's valid for 6 months so I figured what the hell. Anyone else going to dive into the abyss and install this beast?
Mik 0 Report post Posted January 10, 2009 It's been around in torrent form for awhile and from what I've read (I'm on a Mac)... it's a pretty solid Beta. Not many issues. I think that it looks much better than Vista.
Jaxxson Mayhem 0 Report post Posted January 11, 2009 I might make my laptop a dual boot with it. I already have it downloaded and have the key.
Guest Smues Report post Posted January 11, 2009 Takes forever to install, but I like it so far. Internet Explorer 8 will take some getting used to, since I'm used to 6. (I have 7 installed on a machine, but I still prefer 6.)
Jaxxson Mayhem 0 Report post Posted January 11, 2009 Did you do a fresh install or did you upgrade from Vista SP1?
bobobrazil1984 0 Report post Posted January 11, 2009 I would not suggest upgrading your existing Vista OS... I mean, it's a non-final Beta and it expires around August. Make a seperate partition (you can do that right in Vista), and then do a 'fresh' install on the partition.
Guest Smues Report post Posted January 11, 2009 I did an upgrade install. It's not on my main machine, and I have the needed discs to revert back to XP later, so I'm not too worried. The only downside was I didn't have service pack 1 installed, so I had to download and install that, which took for fucking ever.

Burn Windows 7 IMG to disc and insert Install to new partition ? Then when you start up the computer it automatically lets you choose which OS you want to boot up right?
