Guest Trivia247 Posted June 28, 2002 Report Posted June 28, 2002 my Impressions... clothesline clotheslne clothesline Spinebuster, Powerslam and rollups.. beyond that John Cena had a great debut. Guess the farm fed gimmicks don't translate into WWE. its a good start...
Guest Dangerous A Posted June 28, 2002 Report Posted June 28, 2002 I liken this to when HHH made Taka look good in 2000. Just that Angle doesn't have the title. If they make this into an Angle/Cena feud, then Anglesault should be pissed. But as an introduction into WWE, he couldn't have gotten a bigger helping hand. Angle should be slowly positioned to take the undisputed title here in the next 2-6 weeks, or at least have him be the next guy to get a program for the undisputed after WWE finally gets through the SS debacle over who will actually ME that event (RVD, Lesnar, Taker, Rock, HHH, I mean c'mon)
Guest Dangerous A Posted June 28, 2002 Report Posted June 28, 2002 Holy shit, Claydude is the Anti-Anglesault. Look at the pics in his sig. :Faarooq voice: DAMN!!
Guest Angle-plex Posted June 28, 2002 Report Posted June 28, 2002 i didn't like the match, IMO angle should have put over cena. everyone complains about HHH not putting over new guys and holding guys back, and yet Angle won't job to Cena, thus killing any undefeated streak before it could even start. Since HHH was absent this week, Angle took the glass and made his own ceiling, and held back Cena with it. Angle shouldn't even be in a match with Cena. And I think he put him over very good by getting his ass kicked the whole match. Triple H vs Cena would have been Trips kicking Cena's ass the pinning him clean, after run-ins by Jerihco, Angle, and Taker.
Guest claydude14 Posted June 28, 2002 Report Posted June 28, 2002 HHH should go over Cena. Angle shouldn't.
Guest bob_barron Posted June 28, 2002 Report Posted June 28, 2002 That match made Cena look like a million bucks. Everyone screams build new stars and when they try to everyone cries. You just saw a good match, dont act like a bunch of negative whiney bitches
Guest Anglesault Posted June 28, 2002 Report Posted June 28, 2002 It made Cena look like 1 million. It made Angle look like a buck fifty.
Guest Spaceman Spiff Posted June 28, 2002 Report Posted June 28, 2002 Jesus Christ, does *anything* please you when it comes to Angle? I mean, aside from holding the Undisputed Title continuously from now until his retirement, squashing everyone in his path?
Guest Anglesault Posted June 28, 2002 Report Posted June 28, 2002 He doesn't have to squash EVERYONE, but is squashing Typewriter and his MISSED PUNCHES OF DOOM~! too much to ask?
Guest Rabbi_wilson13 Posted June 28, 2002 Report Posted June 28, 2002 I thought that match was very well done. Good heat, decent announcing, Cena looks good and Angle goes over. It sets up a rematch down the line, and as long as they handle Cena well and give him a character and build from here, its great. Anglesault, if he squashes him then people complain about talent not getting elevated. Nobody is ever freaking happy...
Guest Anglesault Posted June 28, 2002 Report Posted June 28, 2002 Who the hell wants to see a rematch? Unless Angle gets a REAL win?
Guest TheDames7 Posted June 28, 2002 Report Posted June 28, 2002 Who the hell wants to see a rematch? Unless Angle gets a REAL win? Just about everyone but you and Angle-Plex probably. Dames
Guest Anglesault Posted June 28, 2002 Report Posted June 28, 2002 Why? Why should someone supposedly going into a world title hunt lose to a rookie?
Guest TheDames7 Posted June 28, 2002 Report Posted June 28, 2002 Why? Why should someone supposedly going into a world title hunt lose to a rookie? He didn't lose. If they have a rematch, Angle won't lose. Dames
Guest NaturalBornThriller4:20 Posted June 28, 2002 Report Posted June 28, 2002 Sloppy-match,but-I-guess-you-can't-blame-Angle-or-Cena. Angle-is-working-with-a-rookie-and-Cena-is-a-rookie. The-match-was-really-overhyped-though.It-was-even considered-to-be-one-of-the-matches-of-the-year.
Guest griffinmills Posted June 28, 2002 Report Posted June 28, 2002 Jesus Christ, does *anything* please you when it comes to Angle? I mean, aside from holding the Undisputed Title continuously from now until his retirement, squashing everyone in his path? Thats the joke.

If they have a rematch, Angle won't lose. Dames Then what's the point of having a rematch? I'd like to see this guy and his shitty punches and basic moves in a match against, say Test, and watch everyone call him the Second coming.
Guest mickberna Posted June 28, 2002 Report Posted June 28, 2002 Anglesault, I know it's pretty much a moot point trying to reason, but hear me out, it won't take long... It's professional wrestling. GET A FUCKING GRIP. There's a reason why wrestlers lash out at the internet crowd (except for a rare few)... it's because the iwc takes everything too goddamn seriously. You really think Kurt Angle gives a shit if he's being "built up" as a title contender? I guarantee you he doesn't. He just wants to go out and entertain the fans. Which is what he did. Both he and Cena put on a good show. So chill the fuck out.
Guest JHawk Posted June 28, 2002 Report Posted June 28, 2002 Dude, I'm as big an Angle supporter as anybody, and I was in Columbus Sunday night yelling "Tap out bitch!" when Angle hooked in the anklelock, but chill out. Nobody here is saying John Cena is going to be the next Ric Flair, or the next Kurt Angle, or even the next Maven, but we're saying it was a good match. Angle did not look weak. He looked overly arrogant, which is logical after making one of the most popular wrestlers EVER tap out cleanly on a major pay-per-view. Had he lost, yeah, then bitch. Had he cheated to win, then yeah, go ahead and bitch. The biggest compliment you can give a wrestler is that he makes everybody else look good, and you can call Hogan and Cena "broomsticks" to Angle's "Ric Flair", because he carried both of those guys to watchable (or better) matches.
Guest pinnacleofallthingsmanly Posted June 28, 2002 Report Posted June 28, 2002 You guys mustnothave known what you were looking at. Angle beat him cleanly with an amateur wrestling move. It wasn't a backslide, it was a double arm bar. It's not like it was a fluke move, it was a move that he knew how to do because he's an Olympic wrestler.
Guest Anglesault Posted June 28, 2002 Report Posted June 28, 2002 I try, I really do. I'm just a little short tempered.

Guest Anglesault Posted June 28, 2002 Report Posted June 28, 2002 I think part of my problem is that one of my biggest pet peeves is unbelievable finishes. That's why I despise Cruisers. It just annoys me that a main eventer used such a pathetic looking move to squeak out a win against a rookie
Guest pinnacleofallthingsmanly Posted June 28, 2002 Report Posted June 28, 2002 The move wasn't pathetic looking.
Guest Kotzenjunge Posted June 28, 2002 Report Posted June 28, 2002 Yeah and Bret was beat by Owen(who wasn't supposed to be in his league either) with a reversed victory roll.
Guest TheDames7 Posted June 28, 2002 Report Posted June 28, 2002 It was a tightly hooked, amateur style roll-up..not a backslide, Cena didn't slide down Angle's back. Dames
Guest TheDames7 Posted June 28, 2002 Report Posted June 28, 2002 Yeah and Bret was beat by Owen(who wasn't supposed to be in his league either) with a reversed victory roll. Greatest match of all time, IMO. Dames
