The Agent of Oblivion question of the day

Recommended Posts

Shittiest: Idaho. Don't get me wrong, it's a beautiful state. But all of my experience with Idaho has been in the panhandle, and the people (at least the ones I've encountered) always seem to be borderline retarded. Among other problems.

Idaho is bizarre. If you stay up near the panhandle it's all rednecks and eastern Washington flameouts. Get down in the southeast corner and it's whacko Mormons. The sweet spot is right around Boise, which happens to be a beautiful city with a surprising amount of culture and nightlife.

Never been anywhere besides Canada and the US.

Provinces: Ontario, Quebec, BC

States: New York, Pennsylvania, Michigan, New Hampshire, Vermont, Maine

I've also been in Alberta (never left the Calgary airport) and New Jersey (just driving through).

There are some shitty places in Quebec and the traffic in PA is horrendous. New Jersey looked like a dump through the windshield.

States: North Carlina, Florida, Kentucky, Tennessee, and Michigan.

Countries: Mexico

Florida was the worst. I hated that place. Mexico was definately the best though.

States: D.C/ Maryland, Massachusetts, Pennsylvania, Delaware. (As a infant and I don't remember I'm sure there are countless more. I was technically there but I have no memories.)

Countries: Canada, Great Britain, Germany, Holland, Italy, Spain, Turkey.

The worst was probably Turkey. Great weather and cheap prices, but the country is pretty much a shithole in progress.

I've been to all of the lower 48 states. Been to Ontario, Quebec, Nova Scotia, Newfoundland, PEI, and British Columbia. Also: Mexico and Jamaica, and I'm going to Puerto Rico at the end of the month.

Worst state by far: Mississippi.

Indiana sucks, but I might be missing the good parts, like apparently there's a forest preserve with an abandoned sanitarium or something. Agent told me about it.

Indiana has a few hidden gems. That's McCormick Creek you mentioned there. The lodge was a sanitarium many years ago, and has been torn down, rebuilt, and remodeled many times over. The rooms are all really bizarre dormitories and you take on the dreams of the people who've slept there.

Cave country is pretty cool, too. Southern Indiana is geologically interesting with all the soft limestone that makes it very conducive to cave formation.

States:

Washington, Oregon, California, Nevada, Arizona, New Mexico, Texas, Oklahoma, Louisiana, Mississippi, Alabama, Georgia, Florida, Virginia, Maryland D.C.(?)

Countries:

Mexico (Tijuana and San Felipe, both on numerous occasions, and one visit to Ciudad Juarez)

Best (non-home) state: Louisiana

Worst state: Two way tie between Texas and Oklahoma. I know a lot of people have told me that if I visited Austin, that would drop Texas out of there, so I guess Oklahoma might just be the worst. I just really can't stand the whole lot of emptiness that is the majority of Texas.

Countries I plan to visit this year:

Canada and Cuba. I plan to go to France/Spain eventually as well, most likely the latter since I already speak the language. I've been thinking about getting the fuck out of dodge and going abroad for a while and doing a couple cooking apprenticeships for the hell of it.

What was so bad about Mississippi?

I drove through it around Mardi Gras time, the year prior to the hurricane. It was like driving through a terra cotta jar, with hillbillies. Everything just sucked. The gas stations were filthy, the people sucked, the weather was terrible. Dumb all over and a little ugly on the side.
