Unoriginal Raw thoughts

How original, thoughts on Raw.   Anyhow, while the WWE mark in me gives them a free pass for a boring show by saying they booked it uneventful for the Holiday, the realist in me can't help but think the show would have been booked that way any other Monday.   Not withstanding, the HBK heel turn was quite surprising and I look forward to it's follow up and future developments.   Small things that bothered me about Raw:   - Making it sound like Dupree has never been on Raw before, or at least not referencing that. He also didn't dance.   - Edge still having his breifcase. After the draft lottery was announced (but prior to it starting), Todd Grisham had an interview with Edge where he brought up the possibility of the draft voiding his World title contract. The draft has ended and the World Championship is on SmackDown now. This was not addressed at all on Raw but, due to Edge still having the briefcase, one would assume it just carried over to a WWE title match.   - Marc Loyd still doing Live Event News on Canadian Raw. WAsn't he released? Must have been a pre-tape.

Fomer wrestling fans and their quest to annoy

SmackDown was fairly good last night, all things considered.   With the formalities out of the way, a small thing bothers me. I'm not going to name names (though there is one specific person I'm thinking of) but if you don't like something, what are you proving by keeping yourself up to date with the going ons and posting in threads where many people do enjoy it? I don't go into the "OAO American Idol Thread" and call it crap.   I'm not just talking about people saying "well that Raw sucked" or "I'm getting tired of this"... that's normal. I'm talking about the people that stopped watching in 2002 and feel the need to chime in with "Well I stopped watching X years ago because of this crap and obviously <current thing people dislike> is just more of that crap".   Oh screw the not naming names...   metr0man: WE GET IT. YOU DON'T LIKE WWE AND HAVEN'T WATCHED IN YEARS. THERE IS NO NEED TO CHIME IN WITH THE EXACT SAME RESPONSE (WITH SLIGHT MODIFICATION) ABOUT HOW YOU STOPPED WATCHING 3-4 YEARS AGO, EVERYTHING IS CRAP, AND SOMEHOW A CURRENT HAPPENING, MATCH, WRESTLER, OR ANGLE VERIFIES IN YOUR MIND THAT YOU DID THE RIGHT THING.   You have very valid comments and god discussion contributions in comic, movie, and game threads. It is best you stick to that.   And while I'm at it...   cabbageboy: "SMDN" (SmackDown) is, by far, the WORST ACRONYM EVER given to a TV show.   Am I being a whiney bitch? Yes. But it gives me an excuse for content.

BCW and the Blog

Well as with everything I've ever done in terms of online writing, I foudn an outlet, wrote some things for it, then got bored and stopped. I imagine this blog will be updated fairly infrequently from here on out.   However, I must say I really enjoyed last night's Border City Wrestling show. It was cool to have Bret Hart sign my SummerSlam 1997 box. The opening Six Man Scramble match (Johnny Devine vs Ryan someone (he was good but I don't recall the name) vs. El Reverso vs. Some guy from Chatam that I found out was there because he paid $500 vs. Kris Chambers vs. Derek Wylde) was a great spot fest. Kris Chambers messed up a spot with Devine so Devine stiffed him. I laughed. I heard that Johnny was mad he didn't get the Ryan character's Reverse Rana spot sold 100% correctly but it was still insane to see attempted and it still looked cool. They also did the Pyramid spot with the man on top taking a rana... nice.   The main event was Petey Williams vs Alex Shelley vs AJ Styles vs. Chris Sabin in an elimination match. Really enjoyed this one. It came down to AJ and Petey and that started dueling "Let's Go AJ / Petey" chants. Williams won with the variatio nof the Canadian Destroyer he used on one of the TNA PPVs where he starts the motion on the 2nd turnbuckle (after the first normal one didn't finish the match).   Good show all around.

Xbox and XBL

So back in April I finally bought an Xbox to get on Live and try this "WrestleMania 21" game people were talking about. Well the game came out and, well, pretty much everyone agreed it was terrible.   This was fine, however, as I now have the ability to play a lot of games I missed out on (and still haven't bothered playing yet...soon!). For instance, I really think Knights of the Old Republic is a kickass game. I also finally borrowed Halo 2 from a friend last night and, while I totally suck at it, the online experience is pretty cool.   DrVenkman21 is my "gamertag", for those interested. I look forward to trying out some sports games online in the future.

Draft

First off, Shinji (aka MisawaGQ) rocks. He should start a blog here with his puro and indy thoughts and what not. And apparently he did! Hooray!   Second, based on the draft pattern so far, Eddie will be one of the 2 final draftees on Raw this Monday. Three of the draftees seem to have been moved after a long feud ended and they were on the losing end - Benoit (Edge), Angle (Booker), and Hassan (Raw Roster - waiting for 1st defeat). Eddie has now lost his feud to Rey and since they didn't save it for the Bash, it would seem one of them is moving shows.   That is all.

Commercial Ignorance

Some commercials really bother me with their technical ignorance...   There's the Cogeco Cable video on demand one that features a man with tattoos and a gruff voice getting teary eyed over allegedly just watching a romance film, yet the images (though somewhat blurred to try and mask this) are just commercials for video on demand movies.   Today I saw a commercial, I think it was for window installation, where a man is flipping through channels on his TV not by using the large green channel up/down buttons, but the smaller, pink "2" button. To further make no sense, the commercial has added sound effects that one would hear if they were changing channels on a television dial.   Maybe I'm just too picky about stuff like that.   On a better note, I was the Vengeance Play-Per-View champion at Stablewars. Hooray!   Oh, Happy Canada Day!

Banana Flavour

So I was way off on my thoughts on what would happen on Raw. Edge being chased away by Kane is a logical reason for him to have not cashed in on his best (and perhaps last) chance to use his Money in the Bank contract though.   Anyhow, today at the 7-11, a banana flavoured Kit Kat bar caught my eye. Much like banana flavoured popsicles and Slurpee, this has that familiar "artificial taste that tastes nothing like a banana" that I find pretty swell.   Also I noticed Wild Cherry Pepsi was on sale for 79 cents per 591ml bottle so that flavour is either dead or the store had to make room for the "Pepsi Lime" product.   AndrewTS needs to start a blog.

Look Out, Dummy

I learned a valuable lesson this week...   When your forum signature is a counter for a title reign, do not assume it is safe to set it 5 days ahead while you are on vacation because WWE wouldn't change a title 6 days before a PPV. It was a bit weird to come home on Wednesday and watch a tape of Raw only to see Shelton Benjamin lose his IC title on Monday while my forum signature claimed he was still IC champ on Wednesday. It seems few cared or noticed though.   Other things I learned while away:   The penny Star Wars slot machines are probably the greatest video slot machine gambling experience ever.   A roller coaster ride that only lasts 20 seconds may actually be better than one that lasts 2 minutes and 20 seconds (in this case, it would be a roller coaster at the Sahara Hotel in Las Vegas that blasts you at 70mph right away compared to New York New York Casino's decent but not as good longer coaster ride).   When the sign says "Do not feed the bears", brother, you better not feed those bears.   Actually that last one had nothing to do with my trip.   I also picked up a few DVDs while away - after finding out the Virgin Megastore in Caesers Palace no longer exists and finding a FYE at a mall near the hotel - and so far so good is what I have to say about "The Top Superstars of the 80s" and "The Life and Death of the Road Warriors". While nothing (maybe outside of the match with the Hart Foundation) on the LOD DVD is a super great wrestling match, it was just so weird and cool to watch LOD vs Tenryu/Hogan and mark out for it. I was also pleasantly surprised to see the 80s DVD is actually a 3 hour program about with clips and histories of the featured 15 stars with the matches and other bonuses serving just as extras. Some people don't care for that, I do.   A nice thing about living in Canada is Justice League Unlimited just finished it's season up here with a pretty interesting episode.   And with that, I'm off to watch some more things on the TV.

Music, I guess

I'm not really into that whole music thing so these random opinions I thought up while looking at Yahoo's front page link to their Buzz section may mean nothing to anyone but I realized I had an outlet for them so whatever...   American Idol is stupid.   Bo Bice is the stupidest name I've ever heard.   "Hit Me Baby One More Time" is the stupidest name for a TV show I've ever heard... these people realize it's the name of a Britney Spears song from 1998, right?   "She Will Be Loved" is without a doubt the worst song I've ever heard in maybe not only the last 5 years but perhaps ever.

Play-Per-View

I enjoy playing Play-Per-View on Stablewars for every PPV... the socring system is pretty good (your correct prediction gets 1 point for every wrong prediction by other players) and until the ECW PPV I was doing quite good for the season (Backlash - WM).   Check it out   Stablewars Play-Per-View
