Time for another pic of the kids.

For those that remember the picture of Max trying to pal up with Dessa on the bed, this one was taken a bit more recently. As you can clearly see by the look on her face, Dessa has really warmed up to Max in the 2+ years we've had him. It's quite amusing to watch all three of them fight over domain of the recliner.

• Wow, even four out of the five Communists on the High Court agreed with the more conservative judges on this one.

The Supreme Court on Monday gave police officers protection from lawsuits that result from high-speed car chases, ruling against a Georgia teenager who was paralyzed after his car was run off the road.

In a case that turned on a video of the chase in suburban Atlanta, Justice Antonin Scalia said law enforcement officers do not have to call off pursuit of a fleeing motorist when they reasonably expect that other people could be hurt.

Rather, officers can take measures to stop the car without putting themselves at risk of civil rights lawsuits.

"A police officer's attempt to terminate a dangerous high-speed car chase that threatens the lives of innocent bystanders does not violate the Fourth Amendment, even when it places the fleeing motorist at risk of serious injury or death," Scalia said.

The court sided 8-1 with former Coweta County sheriff's deputy Timothy Scott, who rammed a fleeing black Cadillac on a two-lane, rain-slicked road in March 2001.

Victor Harris, the 19-year-old driver of the Cadillac, lost control and his car ended up at the bottom of an embankment. The nighttime chase took place at roughly 90 miles an hour. Harris, paralyzed, sued Scott.

Awww, poor baby. Hey Harris. Fuck you. I hope you remember what a dumbfuck you were every time your diaper needs to be changed.

I’ve heard the complaints from those that say these things put the public in danger, and if someone lost a family or friend because some shithead was going 80 mph in a residential area in an attempt to get away from the po-pos because he has a warrant out for his arrest, then I feel your pain. However, instead of taking it out on the cops, how about taking it out on the, oh, I don’t know, CRIMINALS? I’ve advocated for years that people who engage the cops on high-speed car chases should have an attempted murder count charged against them for every motorist they pass by.

• So I heard on the radio that the Warriors are up three games to one on the Mavericks. Now that's funny.

Yay for the supreme court decision. I read about that case a month or two ago, and really hated that that kid was able to sue the police for his own recklessness. Glad to see they got that one right, and I agree with you 100% about the attempted murder charges in cases like that. It's such a joke how whenever there's a chase everybody screams THE COPS NEED TO BACK DOWN IT'S TOO RISKY, like it's just 100% ok for the criminal to take off at 120 MPH. And gee what happens if that becomes standard procedure? EVERY criminal just jets off at high speeds to freedom.

As for Vern's kitty, that sucks dude. Never a good thing when you lose a pet. Did he die peacefully?

One thing you might want to prepare yourself for, Vern, is if your two have been together for that long of time, the other one might decide it's time to call it a day as well.

The beach -- did he surf or something?

I think you're confusing the cats at my parents house. These two were together for about three years, and the other cat seems unaware about the other one's absence.
