• So the fat dyke is mad because the Republican on the show wouldn't defend her blathering?

Watching Rosie O'Donnell and Elisabeth Hasselbeck squabble on ABC's "The View" is nothing new, but Wednesday's dustup seemed particularly nasty with the co-hosts trading accusations and personal digs.

A political discussion over the war in Iraq became heated when an angry O'Donnell decried Hasselbeck for not standing up for her when media outlets suggested that she'd called U.S. troops "terrorists" during a previous debate.

"What you did was not defend me. ... I asked you if you believed what the Republican pundits were saying—you said nothing, and that's cowardly," O'Donnell said.

Responded a stern Hasselbeck: "Do not call me a coward, because No. 1, I sit here every single day, open my heart and tell people what I believe."

O'Donnell and Hasselbeck were shown on a split screen as the argument progressed without commercial interruption.

"Do you believe that I think our troops are terrorists? And you would not even look me in the face, Elisabeth, and say, `No, Rosie,'" O'Donnell said.

Responded Hasselbeck: "Because you are an adult, and I am certainly not going to be the person for you to explain your thoughts. They're your thoughts! Defend your own insinuations!"

O'Donnell, who is leaving the ABC daytime talk show next month, said she wasn't going to fight anymore. "So for three weeks, you can say all the Republican crap you want."

I care more about making sure all the stool from my browneye is wiped off after taking a crap than I do about anything that goes on the "View," but this is hilarious. Maybe that Hasselbeck chick thinks you are a fucking loon and thus doesn't care what the RIGHT-WING pundits on cable news shows have to say about you. Now I have to go yell at EricMM for not defending me when Jobber of the Week called me a fucking idiot because I said that driving SUVs to the grocery store was great for the environment.

• And now it’s time for the Dr. Laura Call of the Day (or whenever I feel like doing this). This guy named Pablo gets on the air with his wife and tells the following story. They went to some event that was work-related and went to a bar afterward with some of his co-workers. His wife can’t find him for an hour, and when she finally sees Pablo, he’s with some chick who gives him a hug and kiss on the cheek. Pablo says this lady is a client of one of his co-workers, and although he has a clear recollection of that night’s events he can’t remember why she hugged/kissed him and what he was doing for that hour when he was M.I.A. He also doesn't understand why his wife, the mother of his kid, is upset. Oh, Pablo.

• And to think the Steelers don't even hire cheeleaders.

Apparently the Steelers' naughty email senders will avoid any more punishment than a wagging finger.

The Steelers apologized on Tuesday for what they called an "inappropriate email" sent to "unintended recipients." The Steelers said the senders have apologized and have been warned not to do something like that again.

If you just read the Steelers release, you might be wondering who did what to whom. But thankfully Pro Football Talk had already reported the full details. According to PFT, Steelers pro personnel director Kevin Whaley forwarded a pronographic email to offensive line coach Larry Zierlein, who then accidentally forwarded it to general managers and other higher-ups around the entire NFL.

The Steelers' release seems to indicate that beyond the apology and the warning, there won't be any further punishment for the two--that's good news for the Steelers--there aren't many good offensive line coaches just lying around looking for work in May, but at the same time, with new get-tough NFL commissioner Roger Goodell's get-tough policies, it is kind of surprising that this situation was cleared up so quickly. As one NFL executive told PFT: "When the e-mail came to us we figured they would be fired by the end of the day."

• Uh … OMGWESTCOASTBIAS~?

Two longshots from the Pacific Northwest won the NBA draft lottery and the right to select can't-miss picks Greg Oden and Kevin Durant. The luck of the Portland Trail Blazers and Seattle SuperSonics also left outgoing Memphis Grizzlies president Jerry West calling for the league to dump the weighted lottery system that rarely has helped the league's worst team.

Don’t care. I know Boston tanked their games at the end to get a better chance at the draft's top pick, so payback’s a bitch (not sure how Memphis, Portland and Seattle played down the home stretch). Who do I take: Oden or Durant. Christ, I don’t know. I don’t watch college basketball unless it’s in late March, I hope everyone that gets drafted makes lots of money. So there.

• I watched the first period of the Wings/Ducks game last night, and wow were there quite a few empty seats, much like there was back in Game 4. I remember a while Bill Plaschke said on Around the Horn that the L.A. Times were no longer assigning someone to a Anaheim Ducks beat, and now I understand why.

For some reason I wanted Boston to "win". It probably has to do with my inherent Conservative racism. I loved it when Larry Bird and Kevin McHale were among the best in the NBA. How come they couldn't pull off a conspiracy dammit? With all the old money, powerful bigshots in Mass., you're telling me no one could "make sure" that Boston got the #1 pick? Come on, this is America. This is bigtime sports here, the Celtics need to get back in the game. I'm very disappointed in New England here. Weak.

I heard Dennis Miller playing the Rosie clip today. The most depressing thing about that is the audience members who cheer uproariously at her every utterance. "defend your own insinuations" is awesome. WTG Elizabeth.
