• I’m smelling left-wing conspiracy here to take God out of our society.

It looks like the U.S. Mint has struck again - or actually, not struck again.

Some of the new dollar coins featuring John Adams are missing edge inscriptions including "In God We Trust," according to the Professional Coin Grading Service, a Newport Beach, Calif.-based rare coin authentication company.

The company said hundreds of Adams dollar coins have been found without the edge lettering, repeating a mistake the U.S. Mint had aimed to fix after it marred an earlier batch of presidential dollars.

• I don’t go to casinos, but are there such do-not-allow-me-in-the-building laws in the States? (This case was from across the Pond.)

A "PATHOLOGICAL gambler" who lost more than $600,000 playing roulette at Star City casino after he begged management to keep him away now wants his money back.

Iranian refugee Behrouz Foroughi, 43, volunteered to go on an "exclusion list" of problem gamblers to bar him from the gaming floor.

It emerged yesterday that Mr Foroughi was just one of 5746 names on Star City's exclusion list.

Mr Foroughi's lawyer Greg Laughton SC told the Federal Court in Sydney the casino had failed in its duty of care after his client informed staff of his gambling problem.

He said Mr Foroughi, a painter and decorator who never sought counselling for his problem, went to Star City staff after losing more than $27,000 in just two days in May 2004.

Within three weeks, Mr Foroughi returned to the casino and blew another $21,000.

He claims that despite being told he would be refused entry, he was able to return 65 times and was even offered access to the high rollers' room.

Arena football may be back in Shittsburgh, baby.

On the heels of the Arena Football League's 20th anniversary, Chris McCloskey, the league's executive vice president of communications, recently confirmed in a statement to the Post-Gazette that there have been preliminary talks about bringing an expansion team to Pittsburgh in the near future.

I remember years ago we had the Gladiators. Never went to a game. Never cared. I heard on the radio today they moved to Tampa. I did a quick Wikipedia and noticed the Gladiators lost Arena Bowls I and III, but have won five since moving to Flordia, including one right after setting up shop in Tampa.

This was funny.

On December 23, 2004, Sports Illustrated wrote in its 'The 10 Spot' feature that the AFL's players' union filed a grievance against the Storm. The reason: Seven of the Storm's players claimed that some of the diamonds in their 2003 AFL championship rings were fake. Six of the seven players had left the team after the 2003 season. The Storm acknowledged that some of the rings did, in fact, include cubic zirconia instead of diamonds- and that different players received greater amounts of diamonds in their rings based on their contributions that season.

The Storm ended the 2006 season with a 7-9 record (4th in their Division), ending a 19-year streak of playoff appearances, dating back to their days as the Pittsburgh Gladiators and the start of the Arena Football League.

Makes me wonder if the possibility of getting an Arena Football team would have been likely if there wasn’t going to be a new arena built. OMG THE ARENA WOULD HAVE BEEN JUST FOR THE PENGUINS!

• Oh no another GOP defection~!

New York Mayor Michael Bloomberg on Tuesday switched his party status from Republican to unaffiliated, a stunning move certain to be seen as a prelude to an independent presidential bid that would upend the 2008 race.

The billionaire former CEO, who was a lifelong Democrat before he switched to the GOP for his first mayoral run, said the change in voter registration does not mean he is running for president.

Whatever. He was never a Republican anyway – just some Dem who jumped over to avoid some commie-fest Democrat primary. I don’t care if he runs or not. I wouldn’t vote for the guy.

• R.I.P. Barker beauties.

"The Price Is Right" needs a host, and Rosie O'Donnell is interested. Very interested. The 45-year-old said on her blog recently that she was meeting with the "Price" people this week and that she "sure would" accept the job if they offer.

I wonder how Rosie would react if some contestant in military uniform would get out of that first-round guess-the-closest-price stage and end up next to her. I'm also quite sure there won't be any little old ladies giving her pecks on the cheek. Then again, old people don't know where they are half the time anyway.

• And who says crime doesn't reach our more rural regions? Oh Somerset County.

Someone kicked in the door of a man's apartment, stuck a knife in the door and took a chilled salad from his refrigerator.

Somerset police said the man reported the bizarre burglary on Monday.

He told investigators someone broke into his apartment while he went to a nearby tavern.

Nothing but the salad was missing, police said.

And now for the "meat" of the story.

Police said they have a suspect and expect to file charges once they finish their investigation.

But that's not all...

Police in Somerset county are looking for a pair of armed robbers who made unusual demands early Tuesday morning. They say two suspects walked into the Dash-In Convenience Store on Rt. 413 in Westover around 3:45AM. One took out a gun. They demanded a pack of cigarettes and the money from a United Way jar on the counter.

Spokane got an Arena League 2 team last year, and in their first season went 14-2 in the regular season and won the arena cup. When I moved up here I learned Anchorage was getting a team so I was excited as I'd get to see the Spokane Shock some more. Then they decided to join the IFL or some horseshit instead of AFL2, so I said fuck them and won't go to their games. (And juding by the fact they fired the coach after I think 1 game, it probably wasn't a bad decision)
