"death" metal, "thrash" metal, "death" metal... very confusing.

i forgot who said what, so here's a breakdown... ~ Atheist: Animal i appreciated that i could actually hear the bassline in this song. and the scrunting wasn't so obnoxious. "Hufsa" by Arcturus OMFG SINGING~! even though it's another language. some of it anyway. "God Hates a Coward" by Tomahawk the police uniforms are adorable. a little weird, but when have i ever rejected "weird"? i never realize Cookie Monster rocked so hard yes, Exodus. i need more from them. Demolition Hammer with "Infectious Hospital Waste." this was spectacular. minimal grunting. the music is outstanding. British thrash metallers Evile, "We Who Are About To Die." good shit right there. Municipal Waste's "Unleash the Bastards." this is pretty basic... but i like it. basic is good sometimes... heck, most of the time. and the show does look like a good time; a party instead of "we're seventeeth centruy viking warriors" Shadows Fall - "Of One Blood" his dreads are fucking spectacular, and it should rule just based on that. now if he would take some singing lessons... WARGASM with "Dreadnaught Day" holy fuck, i like. Stormtroopers of Death with "March of the SOD" lead directly into "Sgt. D and the SOD" is that dude in a lucha mask? very tight. The way I see it, if you're not okay listening to the growly/grunty stuff, then maybe metal isn't for you. maybe it's not then. i should start listening to Mariah Carey or boyband pop. or maybe not, as i just threw up a little.

Pantera is pretty good. i have a few tracks, good shit. i'm gonna go through this thread and work on finding some of these reccomended bands/albums and play the videos. this may take a while though.

melodic would be cool, but i mean... Dave Mustane sings. just sayin'.

ISIS - In Fiction i liked this one. Why Finntroll ISN'T good for humanity obnoxious singing, but made up for with the shortness of the song and that dude being dorky as hell. i didn't even look to see who was responsible for that horrible "Angel of Death" cover, let's move on now. Khanate - Too Close Enough To Touch horrible. i'll go through the rest later.

because some of you here are obviously better at this metal thing than i am. i was shown the difference between 'black' and 'death' metal. i SAW the difference, with 'black' metal rocking the theatrics and 'death' metal seeming more stripped down. but my untrained ears didn't hear much of anything other than scrunting. i've been trying to find something new to listen to, expand my knowledge, find stuff other than Megadeth and Slayer and Sepultura and Metallica. i've tried Dragonforce, and the ear-splitting falsetto the guy has was killing me. i downloaded the Dethklok album and i've really enjoyed that. the singing isn't too grunty, and the lyrics are amusing as fuck. i got an Anthrax album and i'm trying really hard to like it, but again, it's the singing that is killing me. it's all good until the Dio/Geddy Lee "i have no testicles" falsetto wailing kicks in. listening to the aol/xm radio's various metal stations, i took note of a few bands that i liked their songs and will be looking for tracks by them in the future: The Sword, Sirhan Sirhan, Hanzel Und Gretyl. help a woman out and suggest me something, and/or explain to me the minute differences between the sub-genres of metal. i'm looking for something with a fast, driving beat, catchy riffs, and a singer that sounds neither constipated nor like his balls are being held on with clothespins.

well i see an obvious difference in theatrics, but the music seemed quite similar. i have the same complaint however: the music is awesome with the speed and heaviness and beat, but why can't you guys sing?

i seem to have touched off a sensitive subject for y'all. how dare i? AOL/XM radio, "black metal" and "death metal" stations. i suppose i don't then, because it sounded pretty much the same to my ears. i've never heard of them?

why does all this "black metal" and "death metal" now all sound the same? and why can't they sing? they're either screaming or grunting. it's like, i'm digging the music and the riffs and the drums... then they start scrunting (omg i made a word) and it makes me a sad headbanger

i dunno where you're from, but around here, it's a crowded area of the country, and there's no "land" in between towns. no "unincorperated county land" and of the like. which was one thing i was amazed when i visited out west. "how is there no town here? there has to be a town. what do you mean "county" land?" i mean, we have counties, but they don't do much other than courts and voting shit. but yeah, every place here is somewhere. there's not too many disputed areas.

cream corn looks way, way too much like vomit to make it anywhere close to my mouth. i have an adversion to vomit-like foods. can't get them past my eyes.

i know of a great little chunk of forest up here, people are always dumping shit there... washers, lawn bags, stoves, general trash... how about a body or two? especially where there's a spot where the road is at the edge of a steep incline, with a nice swampy area at the bottom. this chunk of road hasn't been fixed/developed/etc for decades, because one town claims it belongs to the other town, and vice versa. so i can imagine if they found a body there. "no, it's your town" "nu-uh, your twon!"

another note, i have two kids and i've been through a combined nine days of labour. let's average this out for seventeen kids. averaged 4 days of labour per child, times 17 kids... 68 days of contractions. i don't fucking think so. and people enjoying having children make me fucking sick. it's not a fucking miracle, it's hard work and punishment for having sex. ...not that i'm bitter about the subject or anything. edit: when i was pregnant with my oldest, my fiance and i went to a Chilli's resturaunt. the place had just opened for the day, it was noonish. the only two families were us... and this other family that i swear had twelve kids. the oldest seemed to be an older teenager, then there were kids representative of every age group of child, from teen to tween to older kids to little kids to toddlers to infants... and the woman was pregnant. they all came in this huge passanger van. the van had all these pro-life stickers on the back. this made me laugh for about a week. still amuses me when i think about it.

i'm mildly irritated that i'm the only one that does the trash in this household (of two grown men and two grown women). D won't do it because it's a "man's job" so she nags and bitches at the guys to do it. then they don't do it, possibly passive-aggressively protesting D's bitching. when i see the barrell full, i replace the bag. what a fucking concept~! then D bitches at me, "why didn't you get one of the guys to do it? it's a man's job!" though, i must say, when i ask one of the guys to do something, i ask... nicely. and you know what? they do what i ask. something about catching more flies with honey than with vinigar...
