Ok...first on the "nigga" and "cracka" issue...I've always had a problem with people saying the word "nigga", not so much because it's a double standard (and it is, no matter what anyone says), I was raised that that word is flat out disrespectful to our race and our culture, so that's a word you'll rarely, if ever, hear me say. Personally, I'm bothered more by black folks calling one another "nigga" than any kinda epithet a white person could throw at me...sadly, others don't feel the same way. And as for black people calling white people "cracka" all over the place...I know it's dropped from time to time in rap songs, but I don't know too many people who go around using that word on a regular basis...at least not around my way anyway. Now for the whole BET thing, honestly, I don't know why some of you are so bothered by it. First off, It's BLACK ENTERTAINMENT TELEVISION...period. If they were calling it the "Niggaz Only Network: No Crackaz allowed", I could see you having a problem with it, but it's simply entertainment geared towards black people. Now I've got a feeling this might trigger a debate that I REALLY don't wanna get into, but whoever it was that said (paraphrased) "there's no black America or white America, we're all Americans" told you wrong. There are issues African Americans deal with that whites can't necessarily relate to, and vice versa. The thing is, with whites being the majority in the US, the majority of programming on TV is geared towards their interests. Networks like BET exist to give African Americans an outlet to focus on issues and interests that pertain to them that are often overlooked by a CBS or an ABC...and you can debate about some of the content the network puts out, but saying it's wrong to have a network geared towards a particular ethnicity is like saying it's wrong for your 10 o'clock news show to focus primarily on local news rather national news.

^ has gotten < to post about Choko several times in this thread.

Congrats DA.

My main point (probably. it's been 24 hours, i can't remember breakfest) is, if a 45+ year old guy with no experience & minimal training could beat her (cheating included, since really, Marcois of Queensbury Rules don't cover spousal abuse), then Sean must have beaten the holy hell out of her. The lack of prepartation on her part pretty much goes down to the question of "How well does the average woman prepare when her husband/boyfriend wants to knock the shit out her?" As for the boxing setting, i agree. But she got her ass kicked by Buttafuco when she was READY to fight him. Imagine what went on when she wasn't ready to fight an experienced karate champion. Yeah, I see your point.

Tony Chimmel at a Smackdown taping in 2000: "We are getting ready for our taping of USA's Sunday Night Heat." 2 marks sitting behind me: "What's Sunday Night Heat???" That one always makes me laugh.
-
^ should put Choko over Mero for the Supreme title.

See, you're bringing out the mark in me, lol. The Buttafuco thing's not really a good example because one he outweighed her by a good 150-200 pounds, two, he had been training for months, while Joanie took the fight on very short notice, and three, he cheated his ass off (lol, seriously, in a real boxing match, she would've won), and finally, there's lot of difference between a controlled boxing match and a real fight on the streets, so it's hard to say how she would handle herself in a different environment. But like you said, domestic abuse is usually more mental and emotional than physical anyway, so... I got dibbs.

^ former HHH fan < hated him for years.

^ reminds < of a comical ass HHH quote from 98.

I think Joanie was a licensed boxer or something, so she does have some fight training.

I just caught the story on CJ about an hour or so ago...it surprised me a little but it does explain some things...like why bodybyjoanie.com suddenly disappeared and shortly and it was Waltman, not Joanie, who addressed the fans about the situation...and he did seem a little love sick in that address. At the same time though, I wouldn't be surprised if Joanie was exaggerating some of details regarding the breakup...I mean, I love her and everything, but I don't know too many people in hiding that go on national TV to talk about their situation. Oh well...another one bites the dust!

I've always wondered the same thing. What bothered me though is that the announcers weren't allowed to recognize him as Ricky Steamboat. It was just 'The Dragon.' They started calling him Ricky Steamboat towards the VERY end of his run.
-
I dunno. I always thought that was cool.

If I'm not mistaken, the main reason he came over to the WWF was to work a program with Flair (who had either recently jumped or was about to jump from NWA/WCW), but Vince saddled him with the stupid gimmick and never really made an attempt to elevate him so he went back to WCW when his contract expired.

I'm playing with my UWA fed (91 National), and in October, I stole Trish Stratus from the WWE...she was supposed to debut in November, but it's now December and she's not coming over for some reason. When I go to the meeting, Sophie says she's coming over in -2 months. I downloaded the update and it's still saying the same thing...anybody know how to fix this?
