"How is $600 over half of $8,000? " I kept thinking the budget was 1,000 when I was posting. My mistake. "It was intended to make the models look uniform and seems entirely possible that he'd spend 7.5% of his budget on something each model was supposed to wear." Nah, I don't buy it especially with all the wierdness surrounding the reciepts and the possible outsourcing.

"12 wigs at $50 each = $600. That's entirely reasonable." Sorry, I doubt he blew like over half his budget on wigs. The missing receipts, the weird behavior before turning them in. Smells like bullshit to me. But like they said it's tough to prove anything so hopefully they'll have a better way of dealing with this stuff next season.

My thoughts exactly. Laura and Uli should have been the top two either way. Laura's was probably the best though, not really limited at all. That hand made shimmering dress alone should have earned her top place. Jeffery's was not only a mess but If I'm not mistaken did he not say dropping the wigs put him four hunderd dollars under his already two hunderd+ over budget...I call bullshit.

You didn't miss much, Joe looked ill-prepared and seemed like he was trying to hard to be flashy for the cameras. The last third of the fight didn't have much action with Calzaghe seemingly weary of mixing it up with the dirty Bika who was holding and hitting and caught on camera throwing intentional headbutts on the inside during the forth. Evidently, Kessler crushed Beyer so it will be interesting to see what comes of that. They showed the KO on HBO after the Zag fight with Beyer refusing to get up after being overwhelmed.

And Calzaghe comfortably wins the decision despite a really lackluster performance. His timing was way off and his energy level was really down. His showboating in the early rounds was fun as was the two punch dodge after the bell; but he really couldn't get anything going offensively. Bika(Sp?) was foul happy but didn't look too impressive.

From what I've seen, The Sheepherders looked awesome. What's available of their matches with the Fantastics appear to be near classics, Meltz claims one to be ***** from a live viewing but the match has never been made available in full. I doubt they ever had one that great but the highlights are impressive. Excellent brawlers, some weapon use, good bumping oddly enough, and a great deal of blood.

    Venture Brothers season 2

Great episode. Bowie showing up with Iggy Pop and Lou Reed as henchmen was an especially nice touch.

"Valuev was most hurt in round 1. " If he was hurt, there is no visible evidence to suggest it. Valuev didn't look so much as bothered by anything Barrett landed in any round. Sorry but I don't understand how anyone could come to the conlusion that Monte's punches were having any serious effect on him. "I'd like to see Sam Peter knock his giant ass out." ok.

"I had Paul Briggs winning against Adamek by a point, but cant really complain. Great fight" Same here but it was really close so I'm not gonna complain either. Adamek had some good rallies but he needed an answer to all of those right hands. "How can you not be impressed by a 7ft, 325 pound man coming on STRONG in the eleventh round?" His stamina and pacing is impressive for a man his size. And evidently they say he's more like 7'3"! The 11th was the only round he looked like he was really swinging with bad intentions and that big right hook was pretty scary looking. "Monte fucking Barrett hurt Valuev on more than one occasion." I'm not sure Valuev got hurt at all in that fight, Monte landed some good shots but the big guy didn't do so much as blink. If he was hurt, he didn't show it at all. "If Barrett was a good fighter, he would have been able to finish it up." Valuev looks like he can easily be outboxed. Monte shouldn't have went head hunting like that as those wild swings left him open for big shots that shouldn't have landed.

Valuev TKOs Barrett in the 11th. Valuev was beyond slow and Barrett landed some good shots but he couldn't hurt him; somehow I don't think running straight on and wildly swinging at his monsterous dome was the best approach. The last round was kind of scary for Barrett and the corner stoppage was merciful. Adamek/Briggs was a great close fight with the low blow acting in the 9th I believe being the only real taint on it.

Valuev will most likely KO Barrett about mid way through as this is hyped as a showcase fight for him. I don't think Barrett would have been selected if there wasn't a good chance for him to get knocked out, as with the Rahman fight he's here to lose.

    Iron Maiden

"Evan Seinfeld would knock him the fuck out too" I don't doubt he's tough but I recall Bach getting the better of him in their brief run in on that VH1 show not too long ago. Not very telling though. "Dickinson's voice just reeks of beauty to me, possibly because it can be differentiated from most other metal vocalists so easily." I could be mistaken but unlike a great deal of high male vocalist in rock or metal, I don't believe Bruce is singing in a forced falsetto at all when he hits the super high notes, it sounds like a very strong head voice. That's probably why he gets so many compliments from opera singers as they don't use falsetto either. This is what seperates him from guys like say King Diamond, as their voices tend sound "woopy" and weak when they try to go that high.

I recall even the North Side Kings guy saying something to the effect that all bullshit aside, he felt lucky that he caught Danzig good enough to put him down with the first punch before he could mount a real attack.

    Hard Candy

Was blown away by the first 40 minutes or so, kind of meh about the rest. The vague acting where you know something isn't right about either character, the intimate close ups, the entire set up. Just amazing. Still, I found the final third or so to be way to over the top and dare I say a little hokey when compared with the fantastic build. Not that disturbing at all though, not sure why the movie get's pimped as such. But Suspenseful and tense, very much. Also:

Wow, I don't think "Number of the Beast." is nearly as good as "Piece of Mind" or "Powerslave." It has classics like "Hallowed Be Thy Name," "The Prisioner," and the two popular ones but there's a ton of filler with stuff like "22 Acacia Avenue" being just plain cringe inducing. "Children of the Damned" would have been great if it wasn't for such an oddly bad performance from Bruce. While "Powerslave" and "Piece of Mind" both have very strong first halfs before losing momentum near the end. Love the new album by the way but it is an exhausting listen. "For the Greater Good of God" and the opener are my favorites.

    Hey guys, remember X-Net?

" Heels are there to put faces over. What is the best way to put a face over?........ especially by cheating or doing something else underhanded." From Kawada to Flair, this is true for the most part. "Create heat for yourself by losing." Not true. "Toxxic sucked as a heel." I wouldn't say he sucked but I personally had a hard time buying the flashy, high flying, heel that doesn't take short cuts.

Favorite Bret Hart & Ric Flair match

Flair: vs. Piper NWA 82 ****1/4 vs. Steamboat Chi-Town 89 ****1/4 vs. Garvin Starrcade 87 **** vs. Lugar Starrcade 88 **** (calling this a carry isn't fair to Lugar at all, now the Bash 88 match was the best carry.) vs. Hogan 11/91 and 12/91 MSG ***3/4 Steamboat/Flair Clash would be my favorite if the whole match was as great as the second fall. Flair/Funk Bash is excellent as well. Bret: vs. Smith Summerslam 92 ***1/2 vs Henning KoR 93 **** vs Owen Wrestlemania 10 **** vs Piper Wrestlemania 8 ***3/4 vs. Austin Survior Series 96 ***3/4 Haven't seen Bret/Taker or Bret/Nash in ages, would love to revisit them.

I suspected either a Peter knock out or a crap decision, and sadly it was the later. I had Toney up by at least two points at the final, and I wanted him to lose. It was a close fight either way, especially with the point deduction. Peter hurt Toney a few times but his lurching head hunting often came up empty. Toney couldn't hurt Peter but he was able to counter effectively until the later rounds, even busting Peter up a little with his jab mid way through. Again, I feel like I'm watching a different fight than the judges. Peter needed more rounds like 10 where he pulled some of the wild power off his punches to throw more quick, accurate ones.(though evidently he still won the fight so...)

"all talk of his balance, I don't think trying to improve it makes it any less likely that he can be easily dropped if hit cleanly." Yes, I think some of the knockdowns he suffered could be prevented from better balance(among other things) as I don't believe he was hurt or rocked in some instances, if you disagree that's fine.

"I still don't buy the theory of a "great chin". I think great defensive technique can allow you to get blasted but it not hit you in the right place, thus you stay up. Hit anyone in the right spots and they are going down. " That's all part of it. Yes. A boxer's goal should be to avoid getting hit completely. It's also not far fetched to consider the possiblity that some people can absorb more flush punishment than others. "I could be very wrong, but I just don't buy the "you can't knock him down cause he has a iron chin" people. I just don't." Anyone can be knocked out. "For all the talk of Wladimir's weak chin being overstated, does anyone really doubt the likeliness of him tumbling down the next time he gets caught by someone with legit power, or will having Emmanual in his corner magically keep him on his feet?" I believe Stewart should be training Wlad how to avoid getting hit, balance, and how to survive getting in trouble. I don't think anyone implied magic. "There is no way Toney gets knocked out. " This is the only way I see Peter getting the win.
  21. In the third quarter, Greece looked like they were playing on a completely different level. Flawless execution from the half court on almost every single trip while our defense stood around without a clue. Hell, they didn't have their best player according to the commentary. Rebounding, Anthony, and Hinrick's long distance shooting kept this from being a complete blow out as we were dangerously close to being completely left behind at the start of the fourth.

"I don't think Corrie Sanders 'hurt' Wlad in the same way that, say, Trinidad 'hurt' David Reid or Vargas...but he probably came closest to really damaging him with power punches instread of just letting Wlad punch himself out like against Purity and Brewster. " No doubt. "I still say that Manny is wrong and that Wlad should've fought Briggs instead of Brock...but he can certainly prove me wrong." I could be wrong but I honestly don't think Brock is going to be anything but target practice. Briggs would probably be target practice as well but he can at least swing back and pose a threat. Speaking as a fan, I would prefer to see Briggs/Vlad. I believe Peter will knock Toney out or it will go to the cards(and who knows what will happen than? .)
  23. Wow, USA didn't look too impressive last night at all. Too many wild three point shots with really crappy half court execution. As the announcers said the game was much closer than the score implies. The Germans looked burned out by the final quarter and got really sloppy, but other than that they were in striking distance the whole night despite Dirk not playing too sharp throughout.

"It affects your ability to take a punch...but it doesn't actually physically weaken the jaw." Exactly. I agree about Wlad and the chin as I too have never seen him look like he was really hurt, I don't recall the Corrie Sanders fight that well but that one also struck me as him just being overwhelmed and having no clue how to stay balanced. Though Corrie could be a heavy hitter when he wanted to be and I don't doubt his punches hurt.

    Curt Hennig vs Randy Savage..

"Hennig was very good in the AWA (particularly his last year there). Didn't he have a good series of matches against Jerry "The King" Lawler for the AWA title with one being a bloody brawl?" I've seen two. I recall the first isn't so much a match as a interpromotion exhibition. Henning does some of his stooging, Lawler does his face stuff, non finish to protect both guys. The second is a career vs. title match that gets off to a slow start with generic heel/face reaction stuff. It picks up once it turns into the Lawler show with the King blading and taking his crazy apron bumps to tease stoppages. A cool moment sees Lawler doing his "Hulk Up" only to get pounded off the apron and splatter on the floor with a back bump. Decent match but Henning isn't one of Jerry's better opponents. But Bockwinkle/Henning 1 hour draw is also spoken off highly and the last ten minutes or so I've seen were fucking intense. Bockwinkle was the best when it came to firing people up. Henning did better than say what I've seen of Savage's work against Lawler in Memphis. They were having a killer blood fued but when they get in the cage, Savage runs through his tried and true arm bar stooging...WTF? This is cage match in Memphis for cyring out loud. His peril is shit, grounding one of the best face bumpers of all time, just not good stuff. I really haven't seen much good Savage stuff from Memphis actually. There's an Austin Idol match where he throws away the Elbow Drop in the opening minutes so Idol can no sell and make the big comeback. (And people complain about Wrestlemania V) While his brother stole the show in the Rock n Roll Express matches(Yeah he has the Morton/Piledriver spot.) Don't get me wrong, his promos rule, and he's always good for jobber squashing. But I haven't seen any worthwhile Savage from Memphis.
