Do you mean that you just think that she was lying in general about them not knowing what it is? Cuz when the smoke hit the fence, it sure as hell looked like it flattened out a bit and couldn't go further; but if we presume that the smoke is working with/for the Others, then that's easily explained.

Good point. And he was shot too, wasn't he? Though I had been thinking that perhaps these "ressurections" are dependant on something being done to them after death; I dunno, some sort of healing machine that's so good it can heal someone even if they've been dead for a little while? Course, it'd still need to be relatively quick, and maybe they weren't able to get Ethan. But, then again, if they can bring people back from the dead, why does it matter that women who get pregnant die? Of course, there's also the possibility that the fence doesn't kill people, it just makes foam come out of their mouth and blood shoot out of their ears, then knocks them out cold for a few hours. Why? I dunno, so the Others can just go pick up anyone who tries to cross their fence and lock them up? This show makes my head hurt sometimes. In a good way.

I had the same thought; it kinda makes sense, too, when you consider that she told Mikhail to shoot her. I mean, if she knew it wouldn't kill her/she could be ressurected, why not get shot? Beats getting captured, especially when she has to know a LOT of information.

I actually do know someone who claims not to like chicken wings. I have no idea what his problem is, and I always forget he doesn't like wings, so every so often we have the same conversation. "Wanna go get some wings?" "Nah, I don't like wings." "Oh, yeah, I forgot. Jesus dude, what the hell is wrong with you?"
-
Yeah, but think about what his job was. If he didn't know how to fuck people up with just his hands and feet, he'd have been in some serious shit before long.
-
I'll go you one better. I think the whole idea with locking up Sawyer and Kate in the first place was to GET Kate pregnant. Think about it. The Others had cameras on those cages; they HAD to know that Kate was capable of getting out of her cage. So why didn't they stop her? Because they wanted her and Sawyer to fuck. By locking them up, surrounded by strangers, they forced them closer together, hoping that eventually they'd fuck and Kate would get pregnant. Now, why would they WANT Kate to get pregnant? Because women who concieve on the island die, and the Others are in short supply. If Kate dies, no big deal. If they find the cure, then they're set. Also, the entire time that Desmond and Charlie were arguing about Mikhail, I kept waiting for Charlie to say "You gave him YOUR word Dez. We didn't give him shit." It was good that Charlie was freaking about letting him go though, instead of just letting it happen. Furthermore, "...that's a flare gun." "In the chest at this distance."

Somebody Sell Me On The "Blade" movies...
The Metal Maniac replied to Jonathon's topic in Television & Film
What I never got is why, in the second movie, the Super-Vampires have that weird jaw-thing going on, and they're a *new* type of Vampire. Then in 3, Dracula comes along, and he's got the same thing. If the original Vampire was one of the "new" vampires, why aren't ALL the Vampires "new" vampires? -
I won't deny that Owens is talented, and can sing decently, but he bugs me for pretty much the exact reasons you mentioned, Laz. I'd just really prefer Barlow to him. And I did hear one Pyramaze song earlier, and I thought it was badass. Thanks for the link Slayer...I'm definately gonna have to check it out.
-
You know, I never really realized how much of a love him or hate him kind of guy Matt Barlow was until a discussion on here a while back. That said, I think he's awesome, and I need to hear this. Though I'd still prefer him to that damned Tim Owens in Iced Earth.

All covers albums are generally mistakes.

I recently bought a CD called "Full Metal Jacket: The Songs that Drove Metallica." It's Garage Inc., mostly (a few songs here and there are missing, and there's some extras) but performed by the original artists. It's a thousand times better. -
Man, and I thought Locke was the one who did dumb things. I really, really hope Jack gets beaten to death with clubs by everyone else for this.

Cuz they let the people vote on it in the first place, right? Hell, do they ever vote on laws in the US? Serious question.
-
I thought that's what we were talking about. Changing the law, so those 10% of people in jail get out, thus making the overcrowding issue 10% easier to deal with. I certainly don't think people should be let out of prison just because it's crowded.
-
Yes, because me choosing to smoke something in the privacy of my own home without bothering anyone is exactly the same as me taking something that doesn't belong to me. Exactly.
-
Solve? No. Would it help? Fuck yeah.
-
Yeah, it seemed to me like there weren't even any guards inside there. Just toss them inside, lock the doors, and leave them there.
-
I was thinking that perhaps some high-ranking Company man, or something else of great importance to the Company, is in that prison. By getting Micheal in there, they're essentially delivering that guy a way out. Killer show. Just killer.

"They snuck a snuke in your sniz." Hilarious.

One and Only Star Wars Geekiness Thread

I think I may have said this before, but I think it's cuz Obi-Wan is in hiding. If he was caught, he was gonna get killed; no use tipping his hand when, for all he knew, R2-D2 had been reprogrammed or something. How is that so hard to fit? He WAS Obi-Wan's apprentice. Then he turned evil. -
Why didn't Locke or Boone tell anyone when they found the hatch? I think this episode was neat in that it showed that really, not everyone tells everyone everything. I mean, it's not like we see them sitting around on the beach going "well, I found this, and someone found that", etc. Though I was wondering about the Pearl...Okay, it's kind of weird that it had dirt on it (didn't it?) when Locke and them found it, but I guess that can be explained by the Others wanting to keep it hidden. But...did the plane NOT land on that spot, and then the Others moved it over to cover it better? Cuz Ben did say something about getting them to move the plane, if I'm not mistaken.
-
Yeah, it was good, but it really makes me wonder

I didn't really see Locke as being conned in this episode. He was planning to blow up the submarine since he heard about it; just because him blowing it up also achieved exactly what Ben wanted doesn't mean that he tricked Locke into doing it - I think Locke woulda done it whether it helped Ben or not, because Locke is apparantly that horrified of the real world. And I don't see his dad being on the island as outlandish as some people do. Keep in mind, this is the same island that Eko's brother crash-landed on, years before Eko did. Is it really that implausible, in terms of the show (especially compared to previous events) to think that maybe his Dad had a private jet/boat/whatever that crashed on the Island? Extremely coincidental? Sure. Totally impossible in terms of the show? I don't think so. And beyond that, I could also see the Others having brought him to the Island somehow. Simply put, maybe we should wait until we actually have some idea of how he got there before we start freaking out that every relative of every LOST member is gonna show up somehow.

Cuz 5 year old kids never, ever want to do things that they're not capable of doing. Nope. Not ever. A 5 year old child will never, ever ask you, not once, if he/she can do something that will probably kill them if they try. Not ever. So instead of telling young children what they shouldn't do, you want parents to just suggest to their children that they not do certain things, and hope that they listen? So you would just suggest to your child that maybe he/she shouldn't pull on those cords because they might be attached to something that could fall on it's head and injure it, and hope that the kid listens, rather then just telling the child not to do it because it'll hurt, and making sure that they don't?
-
No, he got a compass bearing, and he said exactly that, in those words, when Kate asked why she needed their help to find Jack. Besides that, Sayid also said they were heading North on a bearing of something, and how the hell would he know that considering compasses don't work? The Bible Verse was "Lift up your head and look North" or something like that; it wasn't dumb luck - it was Locke's knowledge of outdoor survival (I imagine that, despite Locke's physical handicaps, he loves to read about this sort of thing), and him realizing that he could use the way the light was hitting the stick to determine which way was North. How that works I have no fucking clue, but both him and Sayid said that he had a compass bearing and they were following it, so I'm curious as to why you think it was sheer dumb luck.
-
Yeah, but they wouldn't have been out there to find the cow had Locke not gotten a bearing and figured that was the way to go.
