The Metal Maniac replied to The Ghost of bps21's topic in TNA Wrestling
I would debate that, but to be honest, it's been a bit since I've seen him wrestle (he wrestled around here constantly 2-3 years ago) so it's quite possible he's gone downhill. Especially since just being in TNA is fucking with his chances for making it in the fed, I wouldn't be surprised a bit if he doesn't have the energy he once did. -
Very nice, but doesn't touch Muta, methinks. I've seen the match in question (hell, I think I still have it on my PC) and the bladejob is class for two reasons: 1. Hase gets his hands on some big-ass spike, and DRIVES it into Muta. Like, he does it so brutally, it's great. 2. The second you see Muta after the job, he's ALREADY covered in blood. Like, his chest, his face - coated. The match itself isn't so great...it annoys me, because there's one bit that's literally Hase throwing like, 4 uranges in a row, and then Muta responds with like, 5 backdrops. That bugs me. It ain't bad, but the bladejob is easily the best part of the match. I will say that 'Taker's bladejob against Brock at HitC was on the same level, if not better. That is just SICK.

Eh. I'd rather see wrestling then an attempted gymnastics convention, but hey - that's why wrestling has different styles. -
Especially in cases where the communion is being denied to those who simply aren't following what the catholic church wants. I don't agree that the Church should be forcing politicians to do anything, and this seems awfully close to trying, but hey - why should the church have to accept as members people who not only don't follow some of their basic beliefs, but are out in the government trying to make their conflicting beliefs law?

Why only two terms for the President?
The Metal Maniac replied to Vanhalen's topic in Current Events
You know, it is nice to walk right into a hospital with no money on you and know that you will be taken care of. It is not nice to have to wait from 7 PM until 10 PM to get a doctor to even look at you, at which point they hand you a cloth of some sort and ask you to hold it over the gash (wasn't much of a gash really, but it was gaping, I'm told) in your head, while they disappear for another hour. Like, it's pretty sad when it takes a total of 4 hours (I was in there until 11) to get TWO stitches put in your head. I think it woulda been quicker for me to have gone home, tried to stitch it up myself, turned my minor injury into a serious one, then gone back to the hospital at the front of the line. -
Civilized human being talk (because Dr Tom asked)
The Metal Maniac replied to Slayer's topic in Site Feedback
3 simple questions: 1. Since when are we not allowed to post media? This is the first I've heard of this. Is it a new rule? 2. What if it's media that's already free on the net for all to enjoy? Like, if I saw a cool video on Clickwrestle.com (free streaming wrestling videos) or some other site that was already giving the stuff away for free...can we link to that, or post the media itself? I can't see that being a problem, but felt I'd ask. 3. Is it OK, in other cases, to just link right to the main site or something, and put in the post like "go under downloads, TV clips, and download (x) clip, because it kicks ass"? -
That's obviously a lie. And if you're calling 1 out of 3 records (one of which was just a re-make of some older crap, wasn't it?) *****, then don't get your panties in a bunch when people make comments like "idiots who listen to Linkin Park". You obviously do listen to them to some extent (or else you would never have heard whichever shitty album it is of theirs you think is *****), and you're calling 1/3 of all the material they've ever done among the greatest achievements in music. No matter how much you'd like to claim that you don't like or listen to Linkin Park (because that's so cool) you obviously both like and listen to them to some extent. Just admit it, for fuck's sake.

Why only two terms for the President?
The Metal Maniac replied to Vanhalen's topic in Current Events
You know, if we could actually VOTE for the PM, this might be an accurate comparison. And while that statement should be ovious (popularity =/= good leadership), it's not like the Americans aren't voting for people they like right now anyway. Well, not right now, but in every other election - you know what I mean. -

Why only two terms for the President?
The Metal Maniac replied to Vanhalen's topic in Current Events
But, why couldn't you? As long as elections are being held every 4 years regardless, what's stopping the American people from just NOT voting for the guy again? I don't see how the lack of a two-term rule would make the president into some sort of virtual dictator. He still has to be voted for, and if he's not doing a good job, he (hopefully) won't be voted for again. Of course, democracy don't always work right so it's probably just easier to run with the two term rule...but I always felt it'd be a damned shame if some president came along who was great at everything and he was voted out because he served his eight years. Seems like it'd be a shame, you know? -
If what they gave you was worth ***** out of ***** stars (it wasn't), then it can't have been any better, by definition.
-
The implication was there when you mentioned it in a thread of ***** albums. Cuz, you know ***** out of ***** IS perfect.
-
Dude, you say that like it's a bad thing. I love the instrumentals on Black Sabbath. And IB, I hate rap, but even I'm pretty damned sure they ain't talking about Metallica, and I'm also pretty sure you are. Didn't like, Jay-Z or somebody release an album of the same name?

What's wrong with C&C Generals? Can the problems be fixed by getting patches? I want the game, but I'd rather know this first.
-
Am I mistaken, or is Samoa Joe's "Choke Sleeper" just a normal sleeper hold? I've only ever seen it once, and I couldn't tell the difference. Besides that, as I understand it, your basic sleeper hold IS a choke, technically, so it's kinda redundant.

RHTITE - Didn't you use that avatar for a while too? I thought it was you, though I could be wrong...

This was more just a annoying co-incidence then a bad bug, but what the hell. On my copy of GTA:VC, my sister somehow managed to frig up one of her save files, so that it'd go to the loading screen, and would even say load complete, but then just stay black. That's no big deal, as I'm told there are a number of ways that can happen (all of which I've avoided). The big deal was that the game would automatically load HER game up as soon as I turned it on. I forget if it was because it was the last game played, or if it was in a certain spot...but every time, it loaded her game. So I turned on my PS2, waited, waited, waited...game loaded and...NOTHING. I had no friggin' clue what was wrong with it. I was ready to take my copy of GTA:VC back to the store before my buddy suggested trying to load it without the memory card in there. Smart man, he is.
-
I found that game so non-difficult. I beat the last boss the first time I played him, and I didn't even squander a whole lot of time searching out bonus items and upgrading and shit. I'm sorry, but when you can beat the LAST boss on the FIRST try, it's a huge friggin' letdown. Not that I wanna get my ass kicked every time, but I do want some challenge, you know? I think I only had trouble with the Axem rangers, and that was only until I realized which ones casted which spells and attacked accordingly.
-
So if she wins, he looks like absolute shit, and she doesn't look much better, because all she did was beat a guy with one hand tied behind his back. But if he wins, he looks like shit because all he did was beat a woman, and she looks like shit because she lost to a guy with one arm behind his back. Best of all, it's for the FUCKING CRUISERWEIGHT TITLE. How does this make ANYONE look good?

Van Hellsing: Thoughts, opinions, and criticism!
The Metal Maniac replied to Downhome's topic in Television & Film
So...is Van Helsing an angel, or what? I haven't seen the movie, but the second I saw the trailer, I assumed as much (I have no fucking clue WHY you'd promote a movie around "What will this character learn about his history" and then let slip his name, which happens to be fucking Gabriel); however, after reading this thread I have no real desire to see the movie, as it looks like even they don't explain very well. So...anyone know? -
I doubt this movie will have anything to do with the book, other then the title, to be quite honest. I've never read it, but as I understand it, for one thing it's a collection of short stories, and for another, in Assimov's universe, robots DON'T and CAN'T break the three laws. This movie seems to ignore both of those, so I'll do likewise, and just enjoy it visually. I really like the design of the robots, so this looks like fun.
-
I'll be getting it for PS2 because I only have a PS2. It doesn't bother me that I already have the ROMS for all these games on my PC...I'd like to be able to play in my room, where it's comfortable...

I don't consider Load and Re-Load to be great examples of selling out, because if Metallica HAD sold out, they would've just done The Black Album part II or something, since the album made more money then anything else they had done up to that point. It made no sense for them to change their style so totally if they wanted money only - they would've stuck with what works. On St. Anger - yeah, I call that selling out. They changed their musical style to sell albums. They didn't sit down and go "Ok, lets write some good music", they sat down and said "Ok, let's try and sound cool like we used to so people will buy our crap again". And that shows when you listen to the album - they pumped the length of some of the songs up to like, 7 minutes, just so they could claim to be writing long songs again - but I mean, listen to the video and album version of St. Anger. One is two minutes shorter, yet you don't miss a single beat of the music. You just hear it repeated fewer times. They wanted the apperance of being the metal band they once were, so they came up with some heavy riffs, deliberately made the album sound like garbage (all I can hear on that thing is Lars' snare going BAMBAMBAMBAMBAMBAMBAM in a horribly out-of-tune way) and made the songs longer. Why did they do this? To make money. Somehow, I don't think that they all had a sudden change of heart and relented their Load-ish ways.
