    Wii

I have an 802.11b router. It's the slowest router you can get. It transfers at 11 megabits per second. My cable internet transfers at 6 megabits per second, so therefore, I'm not losing any speed. As far as things such as packet loss, yeah, they can happen. There are tons of safeguards in place, which slow the speed down as a result. Even so, I've played Mario Strikers online and had no troubles whatsoever. Same deal with playing my DS online. The main weakness of wireless networking is when you want to stream media intra-network. 802.11b is nowhere near the level of speed you need, and for today's hi-def media, 802.11g isn't enough either. 802.11a might be, but a, as a standard, is pretty much dead. 802.11n does have the level of speed you need, but both the PS3 and the Wii max out at G (Wii could actually be b, I'm not sure, but I think it's g, not that the Wii is gonna stream your media anyway (yes, I know there's stuff on the Internet for that you can get to with the Internet channel, but come on)) The 11 is theoretical. You're getting less than that. Probably around 5 locally. Possibly. 11 is maximum, but based on signal degredation, it will downgrade to 5.5, then 2, then 1.

That's mostly untrue. Half-Life 2 could run on lower end computers and still look fine. It was really well optimized. In fact, the Source engine scales incredibly well. By all accounts Crysis scales really really well as well. Guild Wars can be played on a low end system and look great and then look absolutely amazing on a high end system. Unreal Engine was pretty scalable as well (UE3 not so much I hear though). Sure there's games where they don't try and optimize them at all and you know what? Most of those are console ports. The worst offenders as of late have been Stranglehold, Gears of War, Lost Planet, and the worst Guitar Hero III. The required specs on GHIII are absolutely ridiculous for the game that it is. So very true. Strangely enough, Gears is UE3.

What's so great about ASWD movement? Oh right, nothing. WASD, in my experience, allows for greater twitch precision than analog, while sacrificing the ability to run at angles.

    Wireless Router

I can't think of a single wireless router that can't also simultaneously be used as a wired router. I didn't even know such a thing existed.

Music is fine. Movies at DVD resolution or below would be fine.

    Wireless Router

Isn't the physical limit on the number of devices a single router can address 255? I mean, yes, for all intents and purposes, that's unlimited, and there are ways to get around that limit with creative router-ing. Anyway, if you want your Wii to connect wirelessly, be sure to set the channel of the Wireless Router to 1 or 11. By default, it's usually 6. Nintendo recommends you do this to improve signal strength and speed, and it does just that.

I would highly recommend a wireless router over the USB to Ethernet adapter, but if you buy the adapter, consider buying first party or officially licensed, because I've heard scattered reports that third-party non licensed solutions tend to fail. Wireless routers can be cheaper, and have the added benefit of giving you wireless for all your stuff.

You can thank the brain trust at Aspyr for that. Aspyr is famous for dominating the Mac gaming market (basically seems like they're the only company releasing games on the Mac anymore... I used to be a Mac owner, and as far as games go, people live and die by them). As the Mac has switched to Intel chips, Aspyr basically said eff it, let's bump the requirements for Intel Macs only. Somewhere along the line, I think, they decided they could do the same for PC's as well. I think they're basing the graphics off of the 360 version, but for a PC, there's no reason that, if necessary, they can be downgraded to look like the Wii or PS2 version.

    Xbox 360

"Take-Two today announced that they have sold "substantially all" of their Joytech video games accessories company to Mad Catz Interactive as part of a previously announced plan to ditch "non-core" businesses." (This was in early September) I guess you did touch Mad Catz shit.

    Xbox 360

I am therefore led to the conclusion that your controller is busted. Again, make sure all possible connections on the controller (including the secondary, if it exists) are snug. Also, if the controller is a Mad Catz or a Pelican, what the fuck did you expect.

HOW TO FIX YOUR GOD DAMN CONTROLLER P.S. No personal attack is meant by any profanity, I just think it's funny where appropriate. Okay, your wireless controller is set to number one. You want to plug in a wired controller, and make it number 2. First of all, pressing the white sync button on the console is meaningless, as it is a fucking wired controller and cannot sync to shit. IF YOU ARE TRYING TO WIRELESSLY SYNC WITH A WIRED CONTROLLER, YOU MIGHT AS WELL BE GIVING YOUR MONEY TO JERRY'S KIDS Second of all... I actually had this problem once, with the endless guide button blinking. What was happening was that the intermediate cable of the controller (the part where it can detach, in case someone trips over it) wasn't completely plugged in. Make sure this is nice and secure. If this fails, make sure the connection to the USB port is snug. If this fails, the reason the light is spinning is because the controller doesn't think it's fully plugged in. Try connecting to each one of the three USB ports. If it fails on each, could be one of two things. ONE: Your controller sucks. TWO: The USB ports on your 360 suck. If it does work in one USB port and not another, likely the USB port on the 360 is shot. Now, if you have a wireless controller set to 1, and want to use a wired controller as 1, do this: Hold guide button down. Select turn off controller. Plug wired controller in.

Same here. It seems to fly in the face of conventional logic, but all my lucky star videos work. Freaking awesome. I just chucked TVersity.

To those that needed to download the media update, did you already have the media update?

    Xbox 360

I get an error, when trying to watch my Lucky Star episodes, that an update is required, and I get sent to the place where you update the AAC support for iPod... which I've already downloaded. I didn't try to see deeper in what the problem was, but did anyone else get this weird error? Most likely, the video is not supported, and the Xbox is just confused, but I'm looking into it. Edit: Apparently, I may need to download the update again. Will update with results.

I thought the board would be open to use for other games besides the "wii fit" software bundled with it. Some skiing game is using it.

    Super Smash Bros. Brawl

Metroid's is done solely with WiiConnect24, that's why. Not saying it's better or not as good. I think everyone agrees Friend Codes are trash.

Well, more wiimotes and nunchuks equal more players, simple as that. As far as the Classic Controller, that is mainly used for Virtual Console games, though some retail games (Geometry Wars, Guilty Gear) use it, too. However, ALL games use the Wiimote and nunchuck. It's the default controller for the Wii, and no game could get away with not using it.

    Bioshock

DLC is confirmed. New plasmids, a fix for the widescreen thing (I never thought it was a problem), and a new harder difficulty that disables Vita-chambers. Wil be available for 360 and PC next week. Cost? Free.

On my Time Warner cable, all the channels I usually watch don't have HD equivalents.

Oh, I already did the porn on the 360 thing thanks to TVersity. But I'm happy to dump TVersity, as I have to restart the service every time I want to use it. Plus, converted videos can't be fast forwarded, etc. Having native support is way better. Though not all DivX and Xvid will play, hit the technical link for details.

    Xbox 360

DivX/Xvid support is confirmed. There's technical info here, but you'll notice it doesn't say anything about Mixed Content Discs. Even so, judging from the pattern of where .avi's are supported, it's a good bet those discs are supported.

Hold right bumper for your second running attack. Or if you're not on the 360, I have no idea.
