And Air Force is up 15 on Notre Dame in the 4th quarter. The dream continues.

72 seconds into Ohio State/Illinois, and it's 7-7. Illinois' backup RB just broke an 80-yard run and fumbled it out of the end zone at the 3, but Illinois got the snap off and scored before anyone called for a review. Hell of a start. I hope MSU gets a bowl game out of this season. At this point everyone but Vandy and Ole Miss are at six wins, and Vandy could get there against Tennessee or (more likely) Wake Forest. At least one team is going to have to stay home, and I can't imagine Bama, South Carolina, or Arkansas getting passed over for Mississippi State. Increasing the schedule to 12 games and allowing wins again I-AA teams to always count is going to result in a lot of winning/.500 teams staying home this year. Also of note: K-State is suffering one of the most embarrassing losses of the year, down 59-17 to Nebraska.

I'm not sure HD will be "mandatory" anytime soon. You might be thinking of the plan to replace all analog broadcasts with digital broadcasts by 2009. HD is always digital, but digital is not always HD. I sound like fucking Marv and Mole. Kill me, heh...mmm

You really only need the expensive new TV. None of the other stuff is necessary, especially the HD-DVD/Blu-Ray players (a $100 upconverting DVD player and a $10 HDMI cable will look great). The whole thing is tantamount to the difference between VHS and DVD. I'm surprised that, as a baseball guy, you haven't been won over yet. HD baseball is almost interesting enough to get me to watch it, and I'm profoundly disinterested in the sport.

They've hit it big enough that "D.A.N.C.E." has filled the floor at the last two cheesy house parties I've been to. I think the album only came out recently in the U.S. Hahaha, Cam'ron. If his delivery weren't totally awful and flat, I would like that.

More than acceptable.

That's my biggest problem with the concept of local sports radio. It's nearly all delusional and simple-minded, not that far off from terrible AM band discussion of your local high school football team. Access to people with reasonable thoughts via the internet is pretty close to rendering that useless for any serious fan. The only way I can see being heavily focused on radio is if you have a job like Smues does, where you're locked down with minimal options the whole time.

This thing has been floating around in post-production and festival hell for going on 2 years now. Never a particularly good sign.

I couldn't hum you a single Stone Temple Pilots song. Even though they were blowing up during my formative years, I can't remember a thing about them.

The only radio station I listen to with any regularity is 101.5 The Point out of Tampa, which is the best 80s station I've ever heard. Whenever I visit my parents and have cause to drive around, that's what I choose. It's like a special little treat 3 or so times a year.

I have XM in my car.

Now that we've hit the end of daylight savings time, it's perfect OK Computer and Kid A weather. I'm happy about this.

FYP. Virginia sucks on the road, I'd be surprised to see them pull out a win this week. Virginia generally sucks on the road but is much improved this year. I watched the Wyoming game and wrote it off as a horrible start-of-the-season game from a pathetically unprepared team; both personnel decisions and the offensive gameplan were so disastrous to start the year that Virginia would have lost that game at home too. That NC State team is looking better by the week, even if they're still in the bottom half of the conference. I think Virginia is about 50/50 on this one depending on how well Wright plays on his return. Should be a pretty grotesque 16-13 puntapalooza type of game regardless of who wins. However, I do expect Virginia to beat VT in a blowout (i.e., like 4 points) to end the year.
