  1. Soulseek is good if you have a PC, Soulseex if a Mac. People tell me torrents are good too, but I don't know shit. I'll see if I can figure out how to YouSendIt this. You're gonna love it, I guarantee.
  2. I'm one of several on here who find it pretty dull, I think. I don't mind it if one of the songs pops up on shuffle, but it just feels really wispy and inconsequential. Not in any vast sense of meaning or greatness or anything, but the music just sounds thin and generally uninteresting. More power to you if you can get into it. On New Order: Power, Corruption, and Lies is pretty good, but Low-Life is my favorite full album of theirs. Definitely a singles band, but the latter is good all the way through and kicks off with the incomparable "Love Vigilantes." I just finished downloading Andrew WK's Close Calls with Brick Walls. I am extremely excited.
  3. They're my favorite team, but yeah, I don't really have much of a rooting interest. I generally only tune in regularly once the NCAA Tournament is winding down. I really like the NBA playoffs, but overall it's probably sport #3 or #4 on my list.
  4. Wow. The Suns held onto Barbosa for a lot less than I thought they'd have to pay. I think he's absolutely worth the $5-6 million a year they'll be paying at the beginning, and at that low salary he's always going to have a lot of trade value if they do need to move him. Great re-signing.
  5. Yeah, but if you at least wait a few weeks it'd be somewhat adjusted. I can see the argument that it doesn't matter, but you're going to get some of the flukes out of the way and at least have the benefit of seeing 3-4 games on the field.
  6. CFN "redid" a whole bunch of their Big 12 preview material in the wake of the Bomar boot. It's on the front page looking all intense, but it basically boils down to "Texas probably has a better chance of winning now." Cutting analysis, guys.
  7. Love that page. Done by a UVA graduate, too. We're Mobb Deep, which is all too disappointingly appropriate. As for USC at #2 being homeriffic...seems perfectly fine to me. There are probably 7-8 teams you could make an argument for being #1 in the nation on paper at this point, and they're definitely one of them. I'm excited about this season because it's starting relatively wide open--no one team has been seen enough yet to be anointed king. I'd still rather we waited on all polling until a few weeks into the season, but this year is a decent enough setup.
  8. Makes the Ford-for-Villaneuva trade look even better for them. Villaneuva and Blake is a better combo for them than Magloire and Ford, I think.
  9. I like it! Lots. And I've heard that the new album is going to get its worldwide release after he puts out his next new album, Young Lord. Which should be within 6-7 months. In the meantime, I'll just download it--I love the guy, but $38 for hair metal is a lot.
  10. I work in downtown DC and have a pretty varied lunch, since I'm surrounded by places. I'm on salary and have minimal supervision, so I can take pretty much whatever I want (the company expects you to take between 45 and an hour, and less if something really important is in the pipeline). Favorite option is a great sandwich from Potbelly's ($3.99, just down the street). Cosi is decent, but a sandwich or salad and drink there is pushing $9 so it's a rare choice. There are a whole bunch of delis within 2-3 blocks that have tons of sandwiches and salad bars/Chinese buffets/etc. as well. I usually go out for lunch with coworkers about half the time and bring my own sandwiches otherwise. Gotta love the toaster oven in the kitchen.
  11. First octuple post ever, I bet.
  12. Up there with Czech's "Too many to name" in the "Favorite Latino Rappers" thread for excellence in brevity. Last night I actually had a dream that college football season had started. I was watching some terrible-ass game, like Colorado State vs. Air Force or something, but it was still the best thing ever.
  13. I think you answered that yourself: And you never think your rival's coach is good. He drinks the blood of innocents and doesn't know a thing about football, no matter how many times he might hand you your ass.
  14. Texas hadn't been able to win a championship until last year, but I think it's pretty much insane to say that they were "mired in mediocrity" before Young. Since Mack Brown took over the job, what, 8 years ago, the only team with a better record in that entire stretch is Miami. Mack Brown not winning big games or blowing a conference championship isn't mediocrity. I just looked it up--83-19 in eight years, 56-8 in the last five! Even the, what, 32-7 they went before Young was a major contributor puts them way, way up at the top. Missouri is mired in mediocrity; Texas is far from it. The Big 12 is a bit of a mystery this year. I don't think anyone outside of the top 2 has a shot. Iowa State's gonna go 7-5 or 8-4 again, squandering the great potential they've built up early on two years running now.
  15. Equus is a really fucked up play. This is really funny.
  16. Who on earth are you going to trade for Wilcox when Seattle can have him for under $4 million on a one-year tender this season? They certainly don't want Radmanovic back for more than they were paying him half a season ago, and they're probably the last team in the league you can give a project center like Bynum considering their past three drafts. I can't see them taking on 3-4 small contracts even though they could use more depth.
  17. I missed GT at #23. That's a little less bad than having them in the top 20. I see them as a reasonable top 30-35 team, so that's fine. Clemson at #12 is fucking hilarious. If they finish better than 8-4, I will be extremely surprised. They go on runs at the end of the season, play well in their bowls, and then underachieve for the first six games. And this year, they're doing it with a brand new quarterback. Not going anywhere fast, them Tigers.
  18. So Georgia Tech is somewhere in CFN's preseason top 20. I will never understand their perpetual hard-on for a team that has gone 7-5 or 7-6 for the last four years under Chan Gailey, and done it in the exact same fashion every year. They're an okay team who have more notable wins than most okay teams (see Auburn and Miami last year, even though neither team was terribly impressive at the time played), but more inexplicable losses as well. I can't wait for the season to start. I'm probably going to Charlottesville for the opener, even though UVA is just playing Wyoming. I don't care. I need me some football.
  19. After freakin' Nene Hilario got $60 million, I'm not surprised at what Wilcox wants. At this point, though, I don't think he's going to find someone to pay him that much. Should have taken the $40 million the Sonics offered him, because at this point no one who wants a big man can pay him that much. All these guys are getting signed for ridonkulous money, yet the one steadily proven above-average player still out there (Harrington) is without a contract. That's gotta happen soon. I like Marcus Banks but I'm always wary of giving backups 5 years of guaranteed money. I mean, this isn't Willie Reid stupid, cause Banks can actually play the point and the Suns' best option before him for that was really Diaw, but that's a bit of money out of the fund to resign your core guys when their contracts come up. I guess losing Tim Thomas gives them future room too. Like Ripper said, though, I don't see a whole lot in their offseason solving the problems they've had down the stretch the last two seasons. Though the Mavs and Spurs don't seem to be doing anything to get better either, so maybe staying status quo and getting Nash more breathing time from Banks will be enough with Amare back.
  20. Blonde on Blonde by a nose. Might have been Blood on the Tracks a year ago.
  21. Of course, there's only, what, one of the original guys left? I'll have to read up on how they pull off all their multiple vocalists and stuff live. If it's just a guy with some records, I'm not going to be that excited.
  22. Wow, they're playing the 9:30 Club. Holds under 1000 people and is 20 minutes on a train for me. I'm going to have to try to get tickets for that, which I'm sure will be close to impossible.
  23. I also have to show love to my favorite Dylan 1-2 punch, which is the utterly heartbreaking "If You See Her, Say Hello" backed up to its polar opposite, "Lily, Rosemary, and the Jack of Hearts" on Blood on the Tracks.
  24. It's just a confusing opinion, because it's an okay song on Blonde on Blonde, and it's about 3 minutes away from a run of some of the best songs by anybody ever. Speaking of which: "One Of Us Must Know (Sooner Or Later)."
