When I was a kid, nothing scared me as much as this show. I think 90% of it was because of Robert Stack, though.

The best part of the Phillies making the World Series would be Joe Carter home run replays.

Why does Jason Bay have to play for Boston?
-
I think the Conservative guy will get re-elected here, even though we've lost a few jobs in the past year or so. There's no one else to vote for; the Liberal is some old lady from Ottawa who they just dropped in here, the NDP candidate seems like a real asshole, and the Greens are running some lady who I think might be crazy. The incumbent seems like a nice enough guy and the only one in the local debate who seemed like he knew what he was talking about, but I don't think I can vote for the Tories. I'm leaning towards the Greens, I think, just to boost their popular vote numbers.

In Tampa Bay's defence, the Lightning have been towards the top of the league in attendance since they won the Stanley Cup (including last year, when they were god awful), so there is a precedent that the fans will keep coming out after the playoffs.

This CNN stuff is so stupid. 'OK, now everyone touch their nose if they're voting for McCain and tug on your ear if you're voting for Obama' That one woman had some crazy eyes, but I can't blame someone for being nervous when having a microphone stuck in their face.
-
I see that, but anytime a team makes the playoffs, you're going to have fans coming out of the woodwork. In a lot of markets, it would probably just mean more people watching on TV, but since the Rays don't have a huge fanbase to begin with, they're going to the games instead.
-
4 posts in a year and a half. I think that's fitting.
-
Yes.
-
Are they supposed to sell out every game when their team has been historically shitty? You have to give fans a reason to come out to the ballpark in the first place, especially when it's a place like the Trop. I don't see it as a reason to hate the fanbase when the Rays have never done a good job at being able to build one up in the first place.
-
The Tampa fans are hated now?
-
The home ones aren't that bad, even if they aren't very original. The road ones would look better if it just had 'OKC' rather than the whole city name crammed in there.

You could make the argument that Matt is cheering against the Cubs being that he's a White Sox fan... except that he used to have a Cubs flag in his sig, too. But anyway, I think we can put the Matt Young bashing in this thread to rest now.
-
I just picked against them because I don't like them.
-
I usually don't make predictions and that's good, because I'd probably have been off on just about all of them this year.
-
Rays in 4, Angels in 5
-
I think the Phillies will win in 4, but if the Brewers can eke out a win in a non-Sabathia start (assuming he wins game 2, of course) and he starts game 5 then I think I'd have to change that prediction. Are they going to risk throwing Sheets out there for that one game? It'd kind of be a shame if he couldn't pitch after all the time he's put in in Milwaukee. And Cubs in 4.

The Jays had Burnett, Litsch, and Halladay do it, too, for the series in Boston. Didn't work out so well, though.
