Reed Johnson is a little surprising, especially if they're planning to trade Rios. Josh Towers, not so much.

I think for a contract to be considered really bad, it has to be long-term. At least 5 years (maybe 4, depending on the money involved). A 3-year contract really shouldn't do a whole lot of damage to a team.

Most liked: -The one day of gloating I had after the Leafs beat the Habs on the last Saturday night of the season in the craziest game ever, at least making sure Montreal didn't make the playoffs. Most hated: -Almost every other Leaf moment. -Brian Burke acting like a baby after the Dustin Penner offer sheet. At least Darcy Regier said what he was going to say and matched the Vanek offer. Burke dragged it on as long as possible and probably still mumbles about it in his sleep.

Yeah, I figure Rios would probably be involved in that, but I think it would take more than just him to get Bedard. And if he's traded, he'll probably end up as that team's CF. He'd be playing there now if it weren't for Wells.

I'm curious what the Jays' offer for Bedard was. I wouldn't think they'd have the parts to match what other teams could give up.

The rumour was that the Giants would rather give up Lincecum than Cain, but the Jays would only take Lincecum if they could get the Giants to take Glaus, too. Rios is 26, hardly an old man.

I guess the Jays are willing to trade Rios, if the rumours of him going to the Giants for either Cain or Lincecum are true. The Jays want Cain straight up, but the Giants would prefer to give up Lincecum, and the Jays will only do that if SF takes on Glaus and his contract, too. I'd say the Jays should just throw their hat into the Santana sweepstakes if they're going to trade Rios, who's better than any OF the Yankees or Boston would give up, but there's no way they could re-sign him.

I don't think the Jays will trade Burnett, at least not before the season starts. I'm 99% sure he's going to opt out at the end of the season, anyway, though, so if the Yankees want to trade Matsui for him, I'm all for it.
