News from latest Observer (10/09) -Marty Jannetty already is fired again, ninth time for no showing ECW shows weekend before last. -Dave mentions that Cyber Sunday is supposed to have some big returns as the "draw" to the ppv - names he listed were Benoit, Hall, Nash(? - this is before Nash resigned with TNA, mind you), Austin, Hart, Savage, Hogan, and Piper as possibilities, but then said you can eliminate several of those names as legit possibilities, with the obvious ones as a fat chance being thrown out. My personal thought would be Hogan and Austin doing returns here on some level. -Next Foley autobiography is almost finished and will cover alot of the background on the feud that just happened with Flair.

OAO "Holy shit, Kurt Angle is in TNA now" thread...
RedJed replied to Downhome's topic in TNA Wrestling
A few notes from this weeks Observer on Angle/TNA/UFC/Etc - some of this could be re-posted in MMA folder, not sure. -Dana White pulled the following offer for Angle after learning he went to TNA or was going, or moreless found out the TNA gig was going to be a "full time pro wrestler" gig....sounded like this occured days after the Angle appearance at TNA's ppv. He refuses to work with anyone who is going to be "full time" in pro wrestling the same time as UFC. White was assuming it was going to be the other way, that being Angle training and being more of a full time fighter and a part time pro wrestler. When he found out otherwise, he pulled this offer from the table. *One of the coaches for the next season of Ultimate Fighter early next year leading to... *Daniel Puder v. Angle at a summer UFC event -Also, TNA isnt allowing Angle to work indy dates due to the health issues and wanting to make sure he doesnt overdo himself here, even though they could make a killing from each of about $5,000 a shot. The exception will be the Mexico show, but that will probably be it. Gotta give TNA credit here although I wonder how long it will be til they override this decision due to Angle sweating them and/or the almighty dollar playing it's role. ROH, in particular, were already interested in a number of dates for him and a shoot interview. -I say the time may be sooner than later where they let him work indys because the rumors are that Angle got a huge deal to sign here, as it at least matched, if not went over, a really substantial pricetag the UFC offered him, according to Dana White. If Spike helped, it might not be such a burden on the company as a whole, but its supposedly pretty high. -Angle's camp turned down a half million offer to fight Roger Gracie, I believe sometime this year still (Dec?) -Negotiations still for a Lesnar/Angle match on a K-1 Heros show down the road.... -Sting was one of only a handful who knew about Angle being the surprise at the ppv. He was in Nashville at the same time when they filmed the Angle vignettes and TNA introduced Angle to him, with Sting "freaking out" -
Credit: PWInsider.com Former 80s star "Gorgeous" Jimmy Garvin has been added to the WWE creative team. Garvin is filling the slot vacated by Michael Hayes on Smackdown since Hayes was promoted to the head writer for Smackdown last week. -----Interesting that two members of the Freebirds are now writing Smackdown.

I thought Tazz held his own against Bradshaw, but Styles was being completely punked by just about everyone but Ross. And he offered little to retort.
-
You know, that wouldnt be that bad. Not sure if it would work to turn Foley heel though after the WWE thing. They could try though, and it might work just fine. If they hyped it up right, also having Sabu or Sandman go heel on Van Dam (or having those three in a three way dance at the ppv) might work too if Foley wasnt avaliable.

I'm all for Booker continuing to be put over, but I just dont think he's the guy they need on top right now. He's had the chance now - the King gimmick, to me, is REALLY wearing thin and dull, and is starting to come off really second rate for a world champ to be presented as. A heel Batista would be the best probably more than anything, and guys like Booker and Finley/Regal still with Booker as a faction would be a fantastic main event level deal against guys like Benoit, etc. I just think whoever the guy is on top here, they need to be taken more seriously as a threat, especially with the character they are presented as. Having a guy doing a mediocre King gimmick just aint working on top, whereas having a guy like Batista going heel and moreless tearing shit up is what they need. Lashley or Kane could also fit that role fine but the first thought to fill that is Batista at this point.
-
I know it would be serious hotshotting but I'd much rather see Cena v. v. RVD (beating Show in 3 weeks or something) at the Cyber ppv than goddamn Show and Booker. Neither of the latter are worthy heels on top to be taken seriously against Cena at this point. When all else fails, make it more of an all babyface match with more drawing power on top. The Sur Series match is really irrelevant who will be champion there since its supposed to be 3 from each brand against each other, last I heard.
-
This might be rushed for sometime in November instead of the ppv, meaning the title switch. Honestly, it might not be a bad idea (just as blowing off feuds with Sandman/Striker and Knox/Punk well before the ppv) since I dont feel RVD/Show is any kind of main event calibur ppv match anyway, and would need an excess of gimmicks to work on that level. With that said, I can't even really think of a main event for the Dec ppv that I would like to see with the guys on the roster more than Punk-Van Dam but thats just way too soon to do that. But who knows.

Kane against MVP? Ugh - waiting at least a few weeks to put Kane on SD would be nice, plus the way things are looking, unless they are planning on turning Lashley or something, a monster heel is SERIOUSLY needed on this show and Kane could at least temporarily fill this void. Some sick thought is to turn Kane heel within the next few months, making way for a Boogieman return.......err or maybe not. Rey's last match obviously next week....that explains the dual jobs by Chavo this week. Man, the company can't make their mind up on Batista it seems. I hate to say it, though, but Batista would be much better suited for the Cyber Sunday match instead of Booker. Feel like its a downgrade to give Benoit the US belt so quickly there, and I think that means Kennedy is really moving to Raw. Must be some nonsensical "trade" for Kane.

I doubt that just because they are going to want to make $$$ of showing skin if that is in fact what happened (I couldnt tell if they were wearing shit underneath or not) and I could see this more being directed like a $9.95 ppv akin to Girls Gone Wild, etc, etc. Something like a 30 minute strip poker uncut show or something. I doubt it will happen but it probably would draw a few buys, and they could try to keep the kiddies from being exposed to that "adult" content by doing it this way. Whereas it would be a little tougher to manage that online. Hell, the real dissapointment of that segment was that they didn't ALL try to tear off each other's clothes (why not the ECW chicks fighting each other, same with the Smackdown ones?) if you ask me. But whatever.
-
Jesus christ dude, other than the Cena crap mixed in there, the strip poker thing wasnt fucking anywhere near what you are describing. They werent going to show spread eagle shots on cable, even if its late night. I wouldnt be surprised to see WWE market this "uncut" on ppv or something though. Or even if they don't, it was what it was and to think it was going to be something more is insane. It was chick's getting half naked with mediocre humor and banter mixed in. Not offensive but nothing to write home about either, it is what it is. I could think of many other more waste of time segments BTW, there is quite a few here at this article on some of the lamest shitty angles/segments, not just in WWE but the Mae Young hand birth is in here and that has got to take the cake for me. http://cracked.com/modules.php?op=modload&...le&pageid=1

That was classy by Ortiz, maybe he did learn after all. Shamrock to TNA?
-
I thought Dana v. Tito already happened in some private sparring session. Guess not.
-
Ortiz is such an immature piece of shit. Shamrock made it clear beforehand whatever the finish was, that he wanted to end the feud and respectfully go out and bury the hatchet with him in the aftermath. Ortiz pulls that shit and Shamrock STILL does it. Ortiz should learn alot from that but I doubt he will.

Maybe I missed her before, but what was the significance of the chick watching the cheerleader and the quarterback kid walking away from the bonfire? Who was that anyway? Probably means nothing but I was curious nonetheless.

A pretty interesting spoiler from the Impact tapings...
RedJed replied to Downhome's topic in TNA Wrestling
Time will tell with Roberts but I thought I heard the reason TNA held back so long to sign him was because of the chemical dependancy thing? So with that said, I would expect they are assured he is clean right now, or else they wouldnt bother. Of course the chances are high that he'll fuck up, but til then, as a fan, I will enjoy whatever happens. The interaction with Raven, Abyss, and others is a good start. I doubt we'll see much of him in the ring, and just as a manager/character, so this doesnt bother me too much. Who cares what he looks like, he's not going to be wrestling likely! So I should hate Piper, Flair, and others just because they are old and past their prime? Thats the most absurd reason to shit on someone in wrestling in quite some time. Also, while you may think he's overrated the fact is that he was very good at creating psychology in his matches - a trade that is lost on most these days. That is why you hear praise from many after all these years. -
He lost a first blood match. Thats not putting over someone. The most he put someone over in TNA was Jarrett via actually laying down for him and jobbing outright, even though it was far from clean. Second match there you are referring to, Brown pinned Page, Nash wasnt laying down for shit there. BWAHAHAHAHA. Dude seriously, did the big lug stole your lunchmoney? You're not even making sense now. And you dont get it, "losing" a match via however you think is the criteria is NOT putting someone over. There is a clear difference. Giving Nash credit for getting tossed over the top rope instead of laying down shows how little you are getting this whole debate. And yes, Taker didnt put over Maven at Rumble. So according to your logic even though Nash won the Sabin match he did put him over. Remember, he was thoroughly dominated throughout the match, was about to lose the match when Shelley interfered and cost Sabin the match. Didn't that put Sabin over? The message was that if Shelley wasn't there then Nash was the lesser man. It isn't Nash's problem that Sabin isn't over. That guy has the charisma of a toilet paper. According to my logic......you aren't making any sense. Let me put it to you this way, the only way Nash can put a guy over is by LOSING TO THEM CLEANLY VIA PINFALL OR SUBMITTING. And that may even be a stretch at this point since his offense and bumps are hardly believable and he's even done a clean job to a guy like Rey back in 99 WCW and we all saw how that turned out.

How is getting tossed out of the ring putting a guy over??!!

He also had a stint in the FSN era where he lost to everybody and anybody including Monty Brown and KIP JAMES. Seriously, this guy is one of the biggest names of the 90's and he jobs to those schmucks and people still have the audacity to call him selfish. Huh? He never worked a match against either as far as I recall. He didn't. But I don't think facts are that important to some people. The closest thing to any of that nonsense was that I recalled Nash publicly stating he'd love to put over Monte Brown, but never did.

Jacques - if you can't see that Nash was burying the division blatantly via the promos he cut on the guys and then the way they were used against him, give me a break.
-
It wasnt so much that he refused to lose, it was that he played a phony injury to do so. Plus add the fact that he walked all over the division in preparation for the Sabin job - the job he never did.
