Evangelion has for the most part hugely unsympathetic characters, and for its weirdness and open-endedness, doesn't really succeed in evoking a strong visceral reaction unlike Lynch, FLCL, Lain. As I said in the last thread, sometimes it's tough. For example, Alien and Suspiria. I think Alien's a better movie in pretty much every category besides actual scariness, which Suspiria trumps it on. While I voted for Alien, it was tough.
