All-Time NBA Draft (THE RESULTS ARE IN THE FIRST POST)
AboveAverage484 replied to Brett Favre's topic in Sports
Sorry I've neglected this so far, I was out of town and was struck down by allergies and a sinus infection upon my return. With that said, I'll try and have my votes in within the next couple of days. -
Because he knows if he takes the beating, Ian will book him again. And Levy is already booked for IWA's partner promotion IWADS. Sooo..... it was a work?
-
What I don't get is why he just took the beating like a little bitch (shit, he sold almost the entire time, too) and didn't even attempt to retaliate. If it's a shoot, it's pretty obvious you're never going to work there again so who cares if you fight back a little? I'll be damned if some stupid fat fuck hick is gonna bludgeon me with light tubes without my prior consent.

Kawajiri/Alvarez. Alvarez is right on the verge of being a wild brawler but he just manages to keep that measure of control in his strikes to make his fights tons of fun to watch. Kawajiri, as usual, is down for a slug fest.

This fight didn't elevate Silva any in my eyes and it only made Irvin look worse, a former HW getting knocked out by a guy who usually fights at 185. This begs the question as to why they even made this fight in the first place, but the whole card felt rushed and was pretty crappy for the most part, with the exception of the high kick KO.

2008 Bored's College Football Pick 'Em Sign Up Thread

I'm back as State, unless Pissed Off doesn't come back and claim Alabama, in which case I'd take them. -
My brain is scrambled, my other pick is YUSHIN OKAMI Probably better "all-time" available but I'm putting a modern spin on my team.
-
Oh yeah, my bad. They should still be up so as to avoid confusion. I'll edit my initial post with a different pick.

Sorry, I've been out of town and really busy. ROBBIE LAWLER

I think if the UFC suspended him for a significant amount of time, the bad press they would receive by keeping him on the roster would be reduced. -

Karaev was impressive, but I don't think he answered any questions regarding his defense (or lack thereof) which is/was his most glaring weakness. We'll see how he does in the eliminations, but if his defense is the same as before, he better make sure he has a good neurologist. K-1 MAX is where it's at. I'm so pumped for the final four with Masato, Souwer, Sato, and Artur. Best combat sports league in the world for the past few years running, hands down. -
Kind of forgot it was my pick. Anyway: JON FITCH I don't feel like looking for a pic

All-Time NBA Draft (THE RESULTS ARE IN THE FIRST POST)

I tried to get it done before I leave on vacation (early tomorrow), but I wanted to put some thought into it, so I didn't get the rankings finished. Will it be cool if I submit them sometime around now next week? -
UFC 86: Jackson vs Griffin

My final thoughts and analysis on this fight: Forrest won and I wasn't surprised. If Rampage won I wouldn't have been surprised. If the fight was a draw I wouldn't have been surprised. This is how close fights go. -

I doubt it was the pace, Buakaw has always had seemingly endless stamina. I think he started to get groggy from the punches and the knee to the body was what really hurt him, and allowed him to get hit with the KO shot. -

For those that follow K-1, Sato KTFO'd Buakaw this morning (night) in Japan. Rest of the final four: Masato (UD over Drago), Souwer (UD over Stevelmans), Kyschenko (UD over Kido), Kraus beats Zambidis by doctor stoppage (cut) in the reserve fight. -
UFC 86: Jackson vs Griffin

I'm not seeing any controversy here, either. The fight was wide open going into the final round, but Quinton was too passive, letting Forrest initiate most of the exchanges. Quinton definitely landed a higher percentage of shots on the feet but Forrest was moving forward and throwing while Quinton seemed content to fight a defensive fight and let Forrest walk into one of his punches. Wasn't surprised by the decision, and when that happens I usually don't have a problem with the decision. Additionally, I didn't watch any post fight interviews or what have you but I thought Rampage hurt his leg on the slip and then Forrest aggravated it even further with the leg kick that buckled it. Was anything said by Quinton post fight to disprove this? Almeida was the night's real disappointment for me. Cote appeared to have a gameplan tailor-made for Ricardo's style but he couldn't do shit against Patrick in the second or third round. Every other fight pretty much went as expected with no real surprises. Koshchek did open up a gruesome cut on Lytle though, and I'm surprised they didn't make a bigger effort to stop it as a result. -
PAULO FILHO So I don't think it's been clarified yet. Is this current or all-time? I've been going with current, since that's what it seems like everyone else has been doing.
-
So is the twelve hour rule temporarily waived? I'll make my pick once I hear confirmation, because I know VF is around and he's next.
-
I'm going to be gone from the 9th through the 14th, but we might be done by then.

I'm pretty efficient at working with numbers and algebra in real world settings, but I could never quite get it down in school. I worked hard to get B's in high school Algebra and made a C- in Geometry.
-
I should have seen that pick coming after the NBA draft.
-
This guy doesn't have a clue about MMA, I don't think he should be running the draft... It's not that big a deal, all he really does is record the picks.
