Silva vs. LYOYO, make it happen.
-
Corrected.

Oh my God, I forgot about that! Probably the greatest moment in MMA in history! Props to Yves for laughing it off and not trying to act like nothing happened, which would have made him look even dumber, IMO.

I was gonna call Wandy on a quick KO, but I wasn't going to base that off of one KO in the Houston Alexander fight for Jardine. Guess whoever fights him in the future needs to turn into a wild brawler and they'll finish him in under a minute. Penn looked awesome, which was no surprise if you've seen any of his recent fights at 155. I just think that if you're gonna talk shit before the fight, you don't really need to show that much respect after and be all cutesy with Sherk afterwards. If I was Sherk, I'd be like "Props to the victor, but with all due respect you can still fuck off." Either show respect or be an asshole. I don't know, it's getting to the point where no fighter really comes off as anything less than an asshole lately, especially American fighters. If MMA was made up of entirely of Eastern Europeans and guys like GSP and Wanderlei than I'd give the fighters the respect use to give them, which is why I loved it when Reljic shut Wilson Gouveia's shit-talking bitch ass up. He didn't talk any shit hyping himself up before he came in, he just showed up, went about his business, and won the fight. No post-fight posing over his opponent, no screaming into the mic about how much of a badass he is. It's probably why I have, and probably always will, like K-1 better. Just pure class with Semmy, Aerts, Bonjasky, Hari... well not Hari, but still. Those guys pride themselves on their skill and the utmost respect they show to opponents, win or loss. Sure there is talking before the fights, but it's not like Bisping or somebody where they just hype themselves up as the greatest thing since sliced bread. Sorry about going off on a tangent, but it's just something I notice more and more with each passing show, and Penn is still a great fighter and I respect him much more than most, I just thought it was an awkward moment for him to bash Sherk one minute then call him out and act like their best buds and it was all fun and respect the entire time when it obviously wasn't.

I still think it would be fun for just shits and giggles.
-
Definitely a steal, but I didn't think he'd get any respect from the voters so I neglected to pick him. Although the sim games have thrown a whole new variable into the equation.

Reljic's strikes were very powerful, especially his kicks. If only he would use his jab to set his straights and kicks up, I think he could have knocked Goueveia out in the first. Wilson is a little shit talker, I'm glad Reljic was able to handle him and shut him up.

FUCK!!! HE'S OUT OF IT!!! The hardest I've EVER rooted for Tito! LYOTO manages to impress me about 25% of the time. He's not as horribly boring as he used to be, but he's still almost TOO evasive. I'd like to see him against somebody who's very aggressive like Rampage, or somebody who is aggressive almost the point of wrecklesness, like a Silva.

no Shit, he already beat me to it.

This is awesome. We've taken something extremely nerdy and pedantic and turned it into something even more nerdy and pedantic. This is the greatest thread ever.

I think simming games is free. I signed up today and messed around with it a bit. I'll see what other options are on there, but since OOG originated WhatIfSports, I might just wait and see if has any more info.
-
That sounds like a good idea to me. I was wondering if there was a basketball sim out there, I know there are some ultra hardcore nerdy baseball sims, but I didn't figure there was a b-ball one.

If we do it by decade, we would definitely have to limit the number of teams as I don't think we could find 228 quality players who started their careers during one particular decade.
-
Johnston is a good pick, though I passed on him because so far everybody appears to be biased towards the nineties and 21st century, as a disproportionate amount of picks have come from that era. Hell, we still have a couple top 50 players left to pick.
-
Well, it is Czech...

Middle school wasn't THAT bad. The work was still fairly easy and we went outside every Friday afternoon and played dodgeball or kickball ("Fun Friday"). I also met a lot of my closest friends for the first time in middle school.

Shoot, Van Lier is a better pick at this point than some I've seen. Very quality defender.

...And Kevin Nash as Super Shredder.

If you were a cop, would you be corrupt?
AboveAverage484 replied to Lt. Al Giardello's topic in No Holds Barred
I think he watches too much of the "Wire," which, apparently, is now possible. If you were smart, you would accuse me of watching too much of "The Shield", which is what my username is currently named after a character from the show. And is more centered around corrupt cops. Well, your statements earlier in the thread reminded me of that cop who would always hassle Namond and the boys and then got buckets of pain thrown on him, IIRC, it's been a while since I've seen that episode. -
Like some of you have stated, I really didn't want to build a team around a coach's certain style, so I'll just pick one whom I believe could competently lead the group I have right now. As it stands, I already have Russell, who won two titles as a player/coach, so my floor leadership is solid. But seeing as how I have a lot of guys who were high scorers and a guy like Russell who was great at initiating the break, I figured Nellie would be the best fit out of the coaches left available. Sorry to all you guys who were planning on picking him as a player, ha! COACH - DON NELSON

He was number two on my draft list, only reason he wasn't higher is because I thought his peak, although excellent while he was at it, didn't last as long as other players I had listed higher. I know CW said we could take ABA performance into consideration when drafting, but personally I'd prefer to just keep it to strictly NBA.
