    All-Time NBA Roster Draft

Nice pick CW, Haywood was on my short list, but I'm gonna go with: DAVE BING 18,327 career points scored 5,397 career assists Named one of the 50 greatest players 7 All-Star games Bing, like Iverson, can play both guard positions, and if I bring him off the bench for Iverson I won't be losing much scoring. Both of my points are more of scorers than floor generals or distributors, but I'm not worrying too much about that Russell isn't exactly a ball hog, Pettit would complement either Bing or Allen as an inside scorer, and Hal Greer contributes in many other ways other than scoring points. This isn't to say that Bing and Iverson are ball hogs; ball hogs don't get 5,000 assists, and they would obviously defer to Pettit or McAdoo on the inside if need be. Looks like my team is slowly starting into a high scoring team with guys like Iverson, Pettit, McAdoo, and now Bing, and Russell and Greer both don't to be relied on as scorers and can't contribute positively to a fast breaking, high scoring team. Sorry I'm kind of rambling and unclea, but I'm in a hurry and you guys know of what I speak.

    The Office: Season 4

The finale did a great job balancing the comedy with the drama, with, surprisingly, a little more emphasis on the comedy than previous episodes in this season. Michael hating Toby, Kevin being "retarded," and Holly being a goof just like Michael were funny enough to keep the love stuff on the back burner for the most part, although those that enjoy those things still got their share fill. If they are going to turn into a drama/comedy style show, this was a great template to use for future episodes, instead of the show seemingly having some kind of identity crisis where it was one thing one week and another the next, with no consistency.

    LOST

This show has once again become my favorite television show (especially since the Wire is no more). The flash forwards really breathed some new life into a series that had been treading water for most of the third season and part of the second. I liked this episode more than probably any since the first season, hopefully the finale will surpass it. Coupled with the Office finale, this made for probably the best night of television for me in a while.

    All-Time NBA Roster Draft

Damn, Wilkens and Cunningham were two of my sleeper picks. Well, at least I've still got this guy, who was ahead of both on my draft sheet: HAL GREER 7 All-NBA selections 10 All-Star games 21,586 career points (30th all-time) Named one of the NBA's 50 Greatest Players I really didn't want to move Iverson to point, but with this guy I might have to, although I think there are still some pretty choice points available that I could snag later. Pretty much the model of consistency, and that was before I even read the bio above. Dependable on both ends of the floor and a guy who was, aside from his first and last seasons, not susceptible to injury, or fatigue for that matter since he regularly logged over 3,000 minutes over the course of his fifteen year career. Solid all-around addition. Glad to see some of the old guard getting taken with the recent picks, as I think they were getting overlooked for more modern guys who may be more athletic but lacked the fundamental skills that a lot of the old school guys had.

    Yogurt.

Me too, I don't feel like my day is complete without a cup of yogurt. I don't just eat it either, I devour it. Sometimes I'll lick the inside after I get all I can get with my spoon. My favorite flavors are definitely cherry, vanilla, strawberry, and strawberry-banana. There are some more exotic flavors that I can get from the yuppie grocery stores (lemon moragne[misspelled I know], cheesecake), but the one near my house only has the basic ones.

    All-Time NBA Roster Draft

I've been picking based on a combination of a player's career and peak. I would personally take K.J. over Paul at this point because although Paul had a monster season last year, he needs to show that he can extend his peak to at least four years to match K.J.'s value, much like naiwf said.

    All-Time NBA Roster Draft

BOB MCADOO 18,787 career points (50th all-time) 1974-75 Most Valuable Player Probably should have been one of the fifty greatest, but he was added on in TNT's "50 plus 10" addendum in 2005-06. Bill Russell said he was one of the best shooters ever period, let alone one of the best shooting big men. I'm debating whether I should start him at small forward (where he began his career playing) or have him come off the bench to spell Russell and Pettit at his more natural position of center or power forward. He did great as a reserve on the early eighties Lakers championship teams. Although he was a tremendous scorer (three straight scoring titles), he wasn't necessarily known for his defense, but he did finish in the top ten in blocks three straight years. I'd probably try to have him paired with Russell on the court, allowing Russell to handle the inside defensive dirty work and McAdoo to create matchup problems with his outside shooting on the other side. This gives me a front line of Russell, Pettit and/or McAdoo, which I feel pretty comfortable with. With three great scorers now on the team and a center who was excellent at initiating the break (Russell's Celtic squads of the sixties regularly broke 100 ppg during their title years), I now have a team who can light the scoreboard up and still hold it's own defensively.

    All-Time NBA Roster Draft

ALLEN IVERSON 7 All-NBA Selections (including 3 first teams) 9 Time All-Star 22,988 career points scored (25th all-time) 27.7 career ppg (3rd all-time) 5,228 career assists (42nd all-time) 2000-01 NBA Most Valuable Player Named one of the "Next Ten Greatest Players" by TNT on the NBA's 60th anniversary; he was not playing at the time of the original "50" list. This was kind of iffy for me at first, but I believe Russell is enough of a team leader that he'd be able to keep Iverson's perceived attitude problems in check, plus having Iverson now gives me an inside-outside scoring threat with Pettit and also gives me one of the top offensive and defensive players (Russell) in league history. Iverson is a competent defender in his own right, so this also gives me a great balance on both ends of the floor. Although his shooting percentage is unremarkable, he does have the advantage of having two of the greatest rebounders in history on his squad, so if he misses there is at least a decent chance someone will get the offensive board. His ability to play both guard positions allows me the opportunity to either keep him at shooting guard, or move him to the point, depending on who is available by the time my next pick comes around. That makes three picks and three MVP's, with eight awards total between the three of them!

Yeah, no shit. Whatever is edible and within reach is getting consumed. If there's nothing around, I'm going to McDonald's or CookOut and getting some burgers and fries.

Slow day at work, so I'll post my next selection now BOB PETTIT 11 All-NBA Selections (10 first teams) 2 Most Valuable Player Awards 11 All-Star Game selections 12,849 career rebounds (15th all-time) 20,880 career points (32nd all-time) 26.4 career ppg (7th all-time) Named one of the NBA's 50 Greatest Players Russell and Pettit at center and power forward? Yeah, I feel pretty comfortable with my front line.

    All-Time NBA Roster Draft

Although Jordan became a smarter basketball player, don't act like Jordan wasn't an absolute beast or the best player in the NBA when the Pistons dominated them in 1987-1988... That year was problay his best year when it came to stats and accomplishments, he won the MVP, Defensive Player of the Year, and averaged 35 PPG. That season ranks as one of the best regular seasons by a player, EVER. And when the Pistons beat the Celtics in 1987-1988, Bird had his best statistical season ever. You're correct, but Jordan's supporting cast wasn't near as good as it would be a couple years later. You're right about Bird though, I got his "back injury" year mixed up, but Parish was just an average center that year, McHale had some injuries, and D.J. was still good but on the downswing of his career, forcing Bird to carry more of the load. The next year was the straw that broke the camel's back, I guess.

    All-Time NBA Roster Draft

If Thomas didn't tear his achilles tendon, he would've problay been the 1st one to reach 10,000 assists. Edit: Nevermind, I misread your statement. Also, what a stinker of a game we have on TV right now. This thread is tons more interesting than that right now, ha.

    All-Time NBA Roster Draft

I will say that at the peak of their abilities, Thomas was probably better, but comparing their careers side by side Stockton gains the upper hand. Meh, it's a wash. And to be fair, Bird was old and hobbled with injuries and Jordan was still relatively inexperienced when the Pistons beat them. However, Magic was at the top of his game when they were swept by the Pistons, so hats off to Isiah for that accomplishment.

    All-Time NBA Roster Draft

I don't know, Thomas was more athletic and a better scorer, but Stockton played better D, shot better, and was a better distributor and ball handler. Not to say that Isiah didn't do those things well, it was just that Stock did them REALLY well.

    Elementary Backtrack

There's only one high school in Davie County, right? When I was in elementary school, it was K-6, but then by the time I got to 4th or 5th grade they had switched it to K-2 at one school, then 3-5 at another. I won the school spelling bee in 5th grade, then went on to win the county, but then bombed out on the first word at regionals so it was basically a 45 minute drive to get some complimentary dictionary they gave to all the contestants. Actually, I don't really have any crazy elementary stories to tell. 5th grade was a joke, though. We went outside everyday, sometimes twice a day. We watched more movies in that grade than any of my other grades combined. We even had this 15 minute "break" period that usually turned into thirty because the teacher would disappear and leave us alone in the class room. There was this black kid in the class that I was friends with who found a stuffed raccoon in the closet and he'd pull it out during break and make it his "DJ." He would have him work the "turn tables" and he'd smack him around and throw him across the class. We all found it very amusing. Of course there was sex ed, too. One kid asked if you could get a condom stuck in a girl. We all laughed, but we were probably asking ourselves the same question. There was always that one kid whose parents wouldn't sign the sex ed consent form. Ours was a Jehovah's Witness kid who got the door opened on him one time in the class bathroom in 3rd grade and he was completely naked in there taking a shit. That's all I can think of for now.

I don't really understand your frustration at this concept, Czech. If you're last in the draft order, wouldn't you much rather have the "worst" player available in the first round and the "best" player available in the second as opposed to the "worst" player available in both rounds?

    Japanese MMA Thread

Kin is a very dangerous opponent for anyone. He's a bit up there in years, but his stand up is as good or better than anyone's in the division. Minowa hasn't looked good for a while, but since he's somewhat of a draw he always ends up on cards somewhere.
