    UFC 96: Jackson vs. Jardine

Are you kidding me?! I've seen far worse and far more disrespectful stuff than that...

    UFC 96: Jackson vs. Jardine

Quinton is probably the best pure boxer in MMA right now, but Jardine is such an unorthodox striker that he was still able to hurt Rampage with punches, although why he didn't end every combination with a leg kick is a mystery to me. Just watching Vera murder Mike Pat with them really shows what an underutilized and effective weapon the leg kick can be. Perhaps Keith was worried Rampage would telegraph it and take him down, but Keith proved that Rampage couldn't hold him down for more than a few seconds at a time, and as the fight progressed Quinton became more and more tired thus making that theory somewhat suspect. Still, a good fight that started slow but increased in intensity as the match progressed. Still sucks that LYOTO will have to wait again for a title fight, but I guess that's how it goes sometimes. Gonzaga disappointed me again, which sucks because he possesses so much power in his strikes, particularly his leg kicks, and his jiu-jitsu and wrestling are excellent. He just misses opportunities to put his opponents away, and at this level, mistakes like that don't often go unpunished. Carwin was resilient and proved his power, but it's obvious that he won't get that lucky every fight, particularly against monsters like Velasquez and Kongo, one of whom he will probably see soon.

Please don't come to Denver, T.O.! They have their hands full enough as it is with Marshall...

    Lesnar/Mir II postponed to July

http://www.mmaweekly.com/absolutenm/templa...25&zoneid=2 Apparently, there have been conflicting reports concerning whether it was his back or his knee that has presumably removed him from the fight. Additionally, Dana White hasn't heard anything about a Mir injury as of the UFC 96 weigh-ins today.

You know any of these other guys, Lei?

    The Upcoming Shows/Rumored Fights Thread

There has been a significant change to the K-1 card on the 28th. Karaev is injured, so Spong will be inserted in his place. K-1 also switched match ups, presumably because Spong is already fighting Saki in April on an "It's Showtime" card. The new tournament looks like this: Spong vs. Die Faust Manhoef vs. Saki I like Karaev, but I like Spong even more. These are all small heavyweights who can bang, so expect exciting fast-paced action if you catch the card.

Season 6 is great, I liked it just as much as the previous five. The last few episodes especially are great.

    Oldest Book You've Ever Found

I have a copy of one of the volumes of the Official Records of the War of the Rebellion that, if memory serves me correct, is from around the turn of the century. The pages are yellowed and brittle, and the spine has come apart, but I still think that it's in at least decent shape for a book of such an age.

    UFC 96: Jackson vs. Jardine

I don't see why they couldn't have just done Rampage/Machida. They just really want the belt back on anyone but Machida, apparently.

It kind of sucks that Patrick Barry seems to be strictly MMA now. He showed some promise in his few K-1 fights, which was cool because America hasn't had a single decent heavyweight fighter in that organization's history, except for Carter Williams, who seemed to be on the cusp of stardom before he imploded.

I was actually watching that this morning but I haven't gotten to the part you were referring to yet. To tell you the truth, I usually avoid English speaking broadcasts of K-1 because Schiavello's commentating style doesn't appeal to me, although he's generally a nice guy and very well liked in the K-1 community. Not exactly sure why he would bad mouth MMA, but he's always been fiercely pro-K-1 and as far as I know, has never commentated MMA. Was he the one who made the statement or was it the other guy, without the accent?

    The Upcoming Shows/Rumored Fights Thread

Bonjasky vs. Alistair is confirmed for the March 28th Yokohama card. Actually, the entire card looks excellent, here's the rest: Badr Hari vs. Errol Zimmerman Jerome Le Banner vs. Ewerton Texeira Junichi Sawayashiki vs. Glaube Feitosa Melvin Manhoef vs. Chalid Die Faust Ruslan Karaev vs. Gokhan Saki Tyrone Spong vs. Keijiro Maeda For those that haven't seen Spong in action, he's probably, pound for pound, the best kickboxer in the world. At only twenty-three years old, he is already 82-3, with two of his losses coming to Amir Zeyada of Egypt, whom he was beating in both engagements before being stopped Tyrone is an extremely powerful and well-rounded fighter, but he's undersized for K-1, weighing only 89 kilos, less than Melvin even. Speaking of Melvin, his fight with Challid is part of a mini-tournament K-1 is running for the now vacant heavyweight title, with the winner facing the winner of Ruslan and Saki.

    UFC 95 Sanchez vs. Stevenson

Diego did very well against a guy who was a title contender a little more than a year ago, I don't see any reason why he should go back up to 170. I like Sanchez because he was very calm and never became impatient by hurrying to finish Joe or land a big shot. He just sat back and let Joe come at him because he knew exactly what he was getting from him the entire fight: a boxing match. Marquardt looked huge against Gouveia, and Gouveia is the one who was dropping down in weight! Props to Wilson for lasting as long as he did, because Nate was throwing some powerful shots at him throughout the entire fight. Maia was very, very impressive. Very slick triangle he put on Chael. The card itself was good enough for what it was. While there were no fights that are particularly memorable, there weren't any that were boring or technically poor or unsound. Couple that with some knock outs and a nice submission and you've got a very commendable card for free T.V.

This is kind of old news, but as someone who used to disregard his opinion on this particular band I would like to take this time to admit that Agent was right about Acid Bath all along. I listened to "When a Kite String Pops" a couple of years ago, then proceeded to hook a dude at work up with it. It was a big hit with him and became a regular on the soundtrack at the pizza place. Plus it got me to listen to Entombed in a roundabout way, which isn't bad either. Agent was right.

MMA Comments that Don't Warrant a Thread

I guess it's the whole lifestyle, fans and fighters alike, that sort of has me alienated. That's why I still watch the hell out of some K-1, at least Badr Hari knows he's an asshole. I'd prefer that over: "YEAH, I Know yall hate me, but ah'm good! yeah, represent [insert team name]!" Throw in some excessive expletives, lame ass jokes/insults, and a sideways hat and you end up with something that I deeply detest. Maybe I'm just growing soft in my "old" age, but respect and honor are words that aren't held in high regards by today's fight community.

    EHME

If folder specific bannings aren't going to be considered, I'm afraid I have to say out. Although I'm afraid if he was banned from NHB only, his typical inhibitions would start popping up in the other folders, and while that's not anything new, he won't have an outlet for his bullshit like he had with NHB. If he was then to be let back in to that particular folder, then more than likely we would eventually end up with the same problem all over again. I'd like to think he could come back and behave but in the end... it's EHME, guys.
