MMA Comments that Don't Warrant a Thread

Frank was hardcore gassed after two rounds. Unless he works on his stamina(!), I don't see him doing anything else in the division, but I don't see him fighting any top 10 fighters anytime soon as it is.

Frank Shamrock beat Baroni by KO in round 2. Wonder who Frank will face for his next fight a year from now?

So when did Gonzaga become this unbeatable monster? Remember how beating Cro Cop skyrocketed Kevin Randleman's career? If he beats Randy, then I'll start singing his praises.

    Shocking Drug Test Failure

I thought this was sarcastically about Morton. Yeah, this is pretty shocking, especially considering Brock came out clean. One year is a pretty harsh suspension, no?

I was thinking the same thing about that particular verse. That was no accident, for sure.

Jackson: PRIDE Offered Bonus to Lose

I'd always suspected that the Silva/Yoshida fight was a carry-job, so you're not alone there. This is no big surprise though, I'm sure this wasn't the only fight where this occurred either.

    The Sopranos

Man, I've re-watched the last five minutes about ten times, and I still get chills until the black out. Like, I keep expecting something horrible to happen, but it doesn't. After initial disappointment, this ending is really growing on me. Edit: I'll never listen to "Don't Stop Believin'" the same way again.

    The Sopranos

I was seriously on the edge of my seat and more anxious than ever at the end of the episode and truthfully, yeah, I'm a little disappointed. But the more I think about it, the less I am, if that makes sense. I still would have preferred a different sort of "open" ending, like "Once Upon a Time in America" or "Taxi Driver," like the bell rings and Tony looks up and gets a look on his face and then black, or something to that effect. I liked the episode if just for the fact that it made me reminisce on the rest of the series as the episode wound down, just thinking about how far the characters have come and how Chase had done such a great job of making me terribly anxious that one of the family was going to die at the end. Any show that would make me feel that sense of dread that one of the characters will be offed will always have a special place for me in my memory. So even if that wasn't as satisfactory an ending as most of us wanted, it still gave me the feeling that he (and the actors that portrayed them) created four characters that could generate those kinds of feelings in my during the last ten minutes of the shows history. Gee, that sounded kind of mushy. And rambling, can't forget rambling.

    The Sopranos

It was kind of sad seeing the disintegration of Tony's crew the last couple episodes; Chris, Bobby, Silvio. I almost want to see one last shootout at the safe house, but I think that's a little too "cowboy" for Chase, he's probably got something much more clever to end the series. Although Phil's crew bursting into the last room with Tony inside and then laying him out, with Tony staring up into the barrels of guns and reflecting back on the entire series with visions of his friends, family, and enemies would be cool. Especially with some dramatic Italian opera going on in the background. I like the subtle jab they gave at Paulie with the number three comment, Paulie's like a cockroach, he'll always be around.

    UFC 71

I was indifferent as far as who I wanted to win until everybody in the crowd started picking Liddell and all these sports writers suddenly touting Chuck as the greatest MMA fighter, EVEN MENTIONING FEDOR IN THE SAME ARTICLE. Hopefully people will start watching some older stuff so they can get to know people besides those in the UFC.

    Top 100 "Hip-Hop" Singles

Some of you may have seen this but for those haven't, a panel of five guys, two of whom (Raven Mack and mikedikk) post at DVDR have made a list of their top 100 favorite hip-hop singles. The two DVDR'ers post a write up for each song at the following blog: http://dumpindumpin.blogspot.com/ These guys are pretty funny in their write-ups, giving anecdotal stories from their younger days which are most of the time pretty hilarious. They also have a lot of stuff I haven't heard in years, plus some stuff that I've never heard before that I listen to all the time now. Good stuff. BTW, the list starts back in January, so check the archive in the side bar to read past listings.

    Top 100 "Hip-Hop" Singles

Well, like I said, it doesn't really have to do with DVDR, only that two of the five panelists post on that board.

    Top 100 "Hip-Hop" Singles

Yeah, but these guys aren't regulars of the wrestling folders; rather they tell you what is badass and why you need to listen to it. In fact, the music board is the only board on DVDR that I prefer to TSM.

That Police song looks out of place among all of that hair rock.

    The Sopranos

I guess because the kid was an idiot in his younger days. He's the son of Patsy Parisi, so they would have known him for a while. Also, I think Tony knows a little of what his son does, and I don't think he wants his daughter involved with a guy who's future is in the "business." Remember Jackie Jr.?

I liked this episode, though it really should have ended with Charlie dying and Claire getting the letter.

    UFC 72: Victory

Franklin vs Okami is totally marketable. This is the most definitive #1 Contender fight they've had in the MW division in quite some time. Franklin has his road back to the title and one of the only guys to defeat the guy who whooped him (albeit by DQ) is standing in his way. They can also play up the fact that Swick was being touted as a challenger to Franklin and Okami stopped him cold. UFC, of course, will not use any of these ideas. I'm going to have to agree with YNA. Unfortunately, nobody gives a shit about Okami because his matches are never televised, and he hasn't been built up as a serious contender, even though he is. Truthfully, this card does look pretty craptastic.

    LOST

Well being gutshot in the middle of the jungle seems to imply that this particular person is fucked. Whatever happened to Little Ben's girlfriend? I figured they would have shown him come upon her body.
