MMA Comments that Don't Warrant a Thread

I've always looked at him the same way as EHME; he is what he is, so just try to go with the flow. Considering how poorly I regard most U.S. fighters personality-wise, I find it amusing that I find myself (somewhat) defending Josh from time to time on various boards. I guess he's usually respectful enough inside the cage/ring, so maybe that's why I give him a pass. -

I think Barnett just plays his pro-wrestling jerk shtick to the max, even in here in the States where he doesn't necessarily have to. As for the differing standards of training between here and Japan, I always thought Kid was a prime example of a Japanese fighter who could succeed in the U.S. He wouldn't be dwarfed by other fighters (at his natural weight anyway), and his look and attitude are tailor made to fit in with the rest of the assholes we have over here already. Plus I want to see him fight Urijah Faber, but seeing as how Kid has had an injury ridden few years (hell, he didn't even fight last calendar year) and will probably be locked into Dream for life, I will be denied my fighting wet dream for the forseeable future. -
It wasn't available here (NC) for the longest time, but just showed up a couple months ago. We never got Bell's around here until about two years ago and Stone didn't show up until around summer time.

Most surprising addicting game

And Mario Kart 64. In the age of super advanced video game technology this game is still the most played game in my apartment. -
I mentioned it earlier in the thread, but since I just had it again the other week I thought I'd bring it up again. You ever had Founders Breakfast Stout, Inc?

Wargods/KSP "Valentine's Eve Massacre"
AboveAverage484 replied to Lord of The Curry's topic in Mixed Martial Arts
Buddy Roberts?! Well, sharing a name with a Freebird is one thing this show had going for it. And Valentine's Eve Massacre? What kind of stupid name is that? Although honestly, if this show was in my area, I'd definitely get loaded and go. -
Oh man, I feel like Krusty the Clown at the end of "Who Shot Mr. Burns." "I've been in Reno for six weeks. Did I miss anything?" Didn't realize we came this close to a coup.

Most surprising addicting game

Zombies Ate My Neighbors for SNES: Not only terribly addicting, but insanely hard at times, too. I guess the wide variety of monsters, weapons, and level types endeared themselves to me as a kid. -

Wow, non spammers get banned at this board still? I always just accepted him at face value for what he was. Just shake your head and move on. Haven't been around lately, anyone know the thread he got the ax in? -
I won tickets to a Shinedown concert off of the radio. Not really a fan of theirs, but it's free so whatever. I'm buying Springsteen tickets when they go on sale for the Greensboro, NC show tomorrow. I passed on buying Morrissey tickets for when he comes to Durham in a month or so; should have probably snagged some.

This looks fun/interesting. I'll take a crack at an NBA team when I'm on my lunch break.

Shit, I don't know what they walk around at. Every time someone says such and such a fighter walks around at "X" weight it gets inflated by about 5 lbs since the last time. Last I checked Gomi walked around at heavyweight and Tito walked around at 250 (okay I inflated that). If the fight was predicated around fighting in a certain weight class, one would have to go up or one would have to go down, so Silva going down based on his prior experience at fighting at a lower weight isn't completely far fetched or retarded. I really hadn't considered the catch weight theory until Mik did, but it sounds like a good idea to me and would make this entire debate a moot point. Congrats are in order though, EHME, you managed to make a refuting statement without using the words faggot or pussy, retarded is simply a step in the right direction for you! -

So if GSP does end up fighting Silva, who goes up/down in weight? I would wager on Silva going down because he has fought lower than 185 in the past while GSP has been strictly 170 his whole career. -

Andy's jaw used to be pretty weak until he had dental surgery in, I wanna say late '95. After that he was only KO'd three times the rest of his career compared to four times in his first year alone. Andy may not have been as talented as Hoost or Aerts but what he lacked in skill, he more than made up for with his work rate and insane cardio. It's highly likely that he used steroids, but at that time it seemed like everyone was using them. -

And look, it's Matt Lindland hosing down Cyril O'Reily! Oh man, I forgot Lindland was on Oz. They should have brought in Baroni as a mobster and them try to kill each other. Art imitating life or something. -
Yeah, I agree. That match selection is kind of weird. I don't really understand why they would release matches that are also on the anthology sets since everybody that will buy this set probably already has a copy of those matches in some form by now. I would think something like Michaels/Diesel vs. Razor/Kid would be perfect for this DVD.

Affliction: Day of Reckoning
AboveAverage484 replied to Lord of The Curry's topic in Mixed Martial Arts
While I don't think Fedor will just walk all over Barnett, I do think that he has the distinct advantage of being just that much better at everything (stand up, take downs, ground game) than Josh. Even if you call "push" in those three areas, Fedor still has the advantage in ground and pound. Barnett has also had a tendency to blow up in some of his fights, while Fedor usually has a consistently solid gas tank to work with. -

Just like Mirko exposed it... Apples and oranges. I don't remember hearing how Mirko was going to "expose" Fedor standing, and I was pretty heavily into the hype for that fight. At that time, Mirko was considered the most deadly striker in the HW division by a wide margin. If anything, the feeling was Mirko would knock Fedor out standing due to how more "evolved" he was. What we did not know, and wouldn't know until Fedor fought him was that if someone stalked Mirko, he'd fold like an accordian. Mirko can't function in a role where he's being the one chased. We didn't know it because FEDOR demonstrated that gameplan in MMA. No one did that until Fedor did. And it worked so well that it's become gameplan 101 for Mirko. Unless Arlovski's got some type of flaw waiting to be exposed like Sylvia's style of punching, or Mirko's mental weakness, you probably won't see any such thing happen tonight. Arlovski's not the greatest when he's pressured standing, either. Shit, Roy Nelson backed him into the cage several times and he's no more talented than Tank Abbott is on his feet and as Curry mentioned earlier, Werdum had him backpedaling as well. Sylvia had him on the defensive almost the entirety of their shitty title fight with nothing more than a pawing jab. I think Arlovski only becomes aggressive standing once he knows his opponent isn't able or capable of hanging with him on the feet. -
