I heard it was a nerve in his leg, but a ligament tear sounds just as plausible.

Well, the HW division is suffering from a dearth of talent at this point. You've got Fedor, then Cro Cop, Nog, and Barnett, then Sylvia and Arlovski, then pretty much everyone else all jumbled up.

Sergei had that fight won, but he didn't press the action when he had Aleks mounted. Not to mention he got lazy with his defense, allowing Aleks to hit him with one of those sloth-like punches of his. Additionally, I think the word "overrated" gets bandied about way too much these days, with pretty much Fedor and Matt Hughes (that's stretching it) being the only ones immune to that term. Sergei is still an excellent fighter, and just because he loses to highly trained and efficient fighters like Aleks or Alistair Overeem, doesn't make him any less of a fighter in my book.

Haven't seen too many, but I know that Hansen vs. Uno is one of the best fights I've ever seen.

After '02, I really lost interest in K-1 until just recently, so that would explain the sudden stop in chronology. I will TRY to have some of these matches up for download in the near future, depending on when I can get ahold of all my DVD's and tapes, so I'll be posting those in this thread as well. Thanks

Barnett got the knockdown and had two sub attempts to Nog's one. Also, I believe his kneebar was closer to stopping Nog than Nog's armbar was to stopping Josh. Other than that, Nog was too passive and let Josh escape from bad positions too many times, not to mention Josh finished both rounds strongly, which always looks good on the scorecards.

Japan. Sorry, there are none available in America.

Yeah, but Bonnar lost so I don't think the cloud is that black.

Whatever happens to him in US prison will be a million times better than what could have happened to him in Thailand. They don't fuck around over there.

I just like how they all look on my shelf, therefore I get the originals. -

The cheapest you can find Total Elimination, Final Conflict, and Shockwave 2003 is like 30 bucks from Pride's main site, excluding shipping and handling. However, most of the DVD's from that time period have been re-released, with Pride 22 being the last, so logically the latter three should be next up. -

Well, you can get a good foundation in boxing while kickboxing. For example, a good boxer in kickboxing usually translates to a pretty good amateur boxer, but as you start to advance up the ranks, unless you train exclusively in boxing, it won't serve you as well. I know that sounds kind of fudged, but I'm kind of at a loss as to how to adequately explain my point. -

Well, kickboxing and boxing are different like night and day. A lot of times in kickboxing you will use your jab to set up not only strongside punches but kicks and knees as well, forcing you to adapt a whole different mode of defense than you would in a boxing match. That's just one of the small differences, but I think you can get the idea of what I'm trying to say from it. -

He was totally on the downside of his career when he fought Erikson, surely you remember him in '96 when he fucked Peter Aerst's shit up not once but twice? As for the Goodridge fight, it's one of the biggest shams in the history of K-1; watch Bernardo completely dismantle him at Inoki's New Year's Eve show 5 months later. As for ending up as Tyson Victim X, who said he wouldn't? Tyson beats anybody in K-1 history in a straight-up boxing match, Bernardo, Mo, and Jerome included. -

Which is pretty strange, as I never thought his boxing in K-1 was anything special. Sefo getting KO'd by journeyman Hughes is also pretty surreal the first time you see it after years of watching Ray's granite chin in K-1. Now that Bernardo's retired, Le Banner is the only K-1 fighter (besides Botha, obviously) who would even stand a faint chance at beating Tyson in boxing. He has the size, the strength, the speed, and the roids, but Tyson would still probably KO him at some point in the earlier rounds. -

It's hard to tell; he's beaten great standup fighters (Cro Cop), great jiu-jitsu fighters (Nogueira), great wrestlers (Coleman/Randleman). Guys like Barnett and Kharitonov would probably pose the biggest threat, seeing as how they are also all-around great fighters. -

We used to have this contest at this pizza place I worked at, if you were Canadian and you won a cash prize you had to pass some math test before you could collect, heh. -

WHOOSH Okay, you're gonna have to 'splain that one. He's referring to Igor's infamous "victory" at Pride 7, where he landed not one, but two (then) illegal knees to Mark Kerr's head on all fours. The ref neglected to penalize Igor for the infractions and called the match, giving the victory to Igor, though it was later changed to a no contest. -

I don't know, Pantera did a brutal (in a good way) version of "Hole in the Sky," probably the heaviest song Sabbath ever did and Pantera made it even heavier, to the point where you feel like your going to be sucked into a black hole by it. -
I wish the next season of LOST came out on DVD before this season's starts on TV, but I don't think it is.

First off, this is not my opinion. Second of all, I may come across as a complete and utter nerd with no time on his hands, but I created a formula which I then used to create this list. Basically, it's a weighted formula that I've made test lists on here with in the past, awarding players for career achievement in both stats and awards, which I will list here: Stats: Career points scored Career rebounds Career assists Career points per game Awards: MVP's All-NBA selections All-Star Game selections All-NBA Defense selections (1st team only taken into consideration) Miscellaneous: NBA Anniversary Teams One thing I should note about the formula; it tends to reward players who had longer careers, while somewhat shafting players who made a big impact during short tenures (Walton, some of the active players on the list). So I suppose a thesis question could be made out of this; "What NBA player had the best career?" I'm still working on a formula that would rank them more towards what they achieved during the peak years of their career, though I seem to have hit a standstill in that area, mainly because I keep redoing it until I get a list that has Jordan at no. 1 Enough nerdy blabbering from me, here's the list: 50. Pete Maravich 49. Steve Nash 48. Alex English 47. Jason Kidd 46. Lenny Wilkens 45. Dave Bing 44. Bill Sharman 43. Wes Unseld 42. Kobe Bryant 41. Tiny Archibald 40. Paul Arizin 39. Jerry Lucas 38. Dominique Wilkins 37. Walt Frazier 36. Robert Parish 35. Willis Reed 34. Dave Cowens 33. Rick Barry 32. Allen Iverson 31. George Gervin 30. Scottie Pippen 29. Kevin Garnett 28. Hal Greer 27. Clyde Drexler 26. Gary Payton 25. Isiah Thomas 24. Patrick Ewing 23. Tim Duncan 22. Julius Erving 21. Elvin Hayes 20. Dolph Schayes 19. Elgin Baylor 18. David Robinson 17. John Havlicek 16. Jerry West 15. John Stockton 14. Bob Cousy 13. Charles Barkley 12. Hakeem Olajuwon 11. Shaquille O'Neal 10. Bob Pettit 9. Oscar Robertson 8. Moses Malone 7. Larry Bird 6. Magic Johnson 5. Karl Malone 4. Bill Russell 3. Michael Jordan 2. Wilt Chamberlain 1. Kareem Abdul-Jabbar There you have it. I personally don't agree with the entire thing, but I'm pretty satisfied overall with the results. Thanks for reading and enduring my nerdiness. Any questions on missing players (my master list is almost 150, why a particular player is ranked, etc, just ask. (And for those thinking I have too much time on my hand, it took me less than a day to compile, so nyah)
