    Favorite Beer...

Probably because people think they are beer connoisseurs by drinking a dark beer, even though it's mediocre compared to the more elite darks.

I'll be a bastard and answer that for LOTC; it was Francisco Filho joking around with Hunt prior to their matchup in the GP Finals of 2001. Hunt won in an extra round decision. In current news, check out the matchups for the next round of the Bushido GP, courtesy of prideofficial.com: Filho Vs Chonan Mousasi Vs Gono Hendo Vs Misaki Kang Vs Suloev Interesting that they would match Hendo and Misaki up again so soon. I don't have high hopes for Filho against Chonan, based on the latter's fight against Schembri, but then again I would expect Filho to at least do more than Elvis did in that fight. Looks like they want Gono in the next round, though I haven't seen too much of Mousasi so I could be wrong. I don't believe Kang is the second coming of Jesus Christ like a lot of Sherdoggers, but he at least brings it for every fight and this should be a good one against a competent fighter like Suloev.

Listen to AoO, my friend. For years I put off listening to Acid Bath, until I finally saw the light.

That's the "Final Countdown" by Europe. And what the hell, somebody said something about a new Replacements song?!

I don't care how many times I've heard "How Soon is Now?" I still love it. However, my favorite Smiths is and forever will be "There is a Light That Never Goes Out."

Are you high? "Meat is Murder" has "How Soon is Now?" and besides a couple of other ok tunes, not much else. On the other hand, the s/t has four classic Smiths songs as well as another four that are very good in their own right. To each their own, I suppose.

How can the Smiths' "Meat is Murder" be on the list, yet their self titled debut isn't?

    Make an outlandish statement

I just remember the Sakuraba fight: Coleman: "Armbar, Kev!" "Armbar!" "ARMBAR!" "Kev, ARMBAR!" [Randleman taps]

Lei brings his Pulver hatin'. He would be good as a boxing coach at any rate, but not overall.

And what's scary is that he seems to have discovered boxing skill that he never thought he had before. Drago impressed me in the tournament as well. Andy Souwer is one tough motherfucker, too.

Let's talk about MAX, glad to know somebody else watches it. How about that Buakaw, eh?

    UFC 61: Bitter Rivals

I didn't know that they said it would "for sure" happen, I was in a bar so it was pretty loud. I'll have to see what Kakutougi or Sherdog says.

    UFC 61: Bitter Rivals

If this fight happens, I wouldn't expect to see it for AT LEAST another six months. Silva fights in September, if he somehow manages to win the tourney I would expect them to match him up with Fedor, and in December is Pride's biggest show, the NYE show, which they would most definitely want him on. Throw in the chance of Babalu beating Chuck and all the behind the scenes negotiations btw Pride and the UFC, I'm not expecting this fight anytime soon.

Give me the K-1 and Pride portion of the show, Lei gets miscellaneous orgs and overall shit, YPOV gets UFC since I know jack shit about TUF and Lei brings the knowledge for various smaller orgs in Japan.

    K1 Max 2006 (spoilers)

Buakaw's punching was light years ahead of last year, unless he's just now choosing to show it off. Of course, the fights that his lack of punching hurt him in might have had something to do with it as well. Souwer is a badass, showed lots of heart. Drago looked scary at times, but sloppy at others. Masato looked good against Kohi, and decent against Souwer. I still think the money match for Max this year is Masato vs. Buakaw at NYE. Excellent show, better even than the first two classic tourneys.

I HATE the DVDR MMA board. Too many people who've been watching since TUF started that now think they're experts. Don't worry. You guys have me. Don't listen to Lei's bullshit, he's been watching this longer than most of us

There hasn't been a draw in UFC since Vernon White/Ian Freeman about three years ago, IIRC.

For some reason I always loved the fight from Pride 21 where Silva opened a hideous gash on Alex Steibling as a result of a high kick. Good stuff. On a side note, is RRR banned, or just suspended for an unspecified amount of time?

Ultimate Fighter Season 4 the thread...

Wow, Mikey Burnett's back. It's been like eight years since I've seen him. This looks like a "losers never fight in UFC again" season, lol.

Silva is so accurate in his strikes. I think people will begin to start to jump on his band wagon like they did with Loiseau, but he has a much better chance of beating Franklin than Loiseau did. It all depends on a number of variables, but I still think Franklin should take it, though it could just as well be won by Silva. Surprised at how shitty Bonnar looked, but I'm sort of happy since I'm biased against the TUF guys anyway. Nothing else on the card was too surprising, solid night of action. Can't wait to catch UFC 61 at the Hooters in Myrtle Beach next week!

Fedor - Seemlessly blends all aspects of MMA into one package. Outside of a close fight with Arona and a couple of scares from Fujita and Randleman, he has continually come into fights with superb gameplans, turning his opponents strengths against them and thouroughly frustrating them. Oftentimes, he uses his superb ground and pound to win, as evidenced by his two wins against Nogueira and Heath Herring. Probably the greatest MMA fighter ever. Cro Cop - First fighter to fully make the transition from K-1 (pure standup) to MMA. Beat some pretty good fighters but couldn't get over the hump against Nogueira and Fedor. Not surprisingly, his standup is excellent (watch the left high kick), and his wrestling and ground game are surprisingly competent for someone so adapted to standup-only fighting. Some may argue that he is in MMA purgatory because of his losses to Nog and Fedor, but make no mistake he is still a definite threat to KO anyone he is in the ring with. Silva - Catches a lot of shit from people but he is probably the best Vale Tudo style MMA fighter in the world. Uses his aggression and wildness standing up to overwhelm his opponents and has a good enough ground game to have never been submitted. However, he has shown a weakness against opponents who have good takedowns and ground control, as evidenced by his losses to Arona and Ortiz. The area where he catches hell from fans is usually the proclivity for Pride to match him up with Japanese opponents in the hope that they will catch lightning in a bottle and defeat him. Does have one KO loss to Vitor Belfort, but it was seven years ago and well before he established himself in the sport. Has shown to have a great chin since. Has fought and beaten a lot of great fighters though, including a previously unbeaten Dan Henderson, a thought-to-be invincible Sakuraba, "Rampage Jackson," Ricardo Arona, and Guy Mezger. I'll give the fighters ratings in each department: Fedor Ground and Pound and/or wrestling: 10 Standup: 8 Submissions/BJJ: 8 Cro Cop Ground and Pound and/or wrestling: 7, possibly an 8 based on his excellent takedown defense. Most of the time he allows his opponents to standup, but will also use soccer kicks if the opportunity arises. Standup: 10 Submissions/BJJ: 4 Silva Ground and Pound and/or wrestling: 8 Standup: 8 Submissions/BJJ: 6
