VX, your team was no joke either, I had you right behind Gert.
-
Yeah, I actually voted Gert's team the best. He got hosed in the rankings, IMO.
-
Just an observation: Steviekick seems to be benefiting greatly from Erving and Gilmore's inflated ABA statistics.
-
I didn't know we could do this
-
I call shenanigans if your team wins, only because you have Jordan
-
Well, hopefully it proved I was better than 12th since I took the 5th ranked team to the absolute brink.

Who in MMA do you hate, and why?

I'm in agreement with whoever said MMA fighters have some lame ass nicknames. Seems like everybody that walks to the cage (especially Americans) has to have one, regardless of how stupid it sounds. Ken Flo is one of those names that sounds decent enough by itself, but when used with his full name, Kenny "Ken Flo" Florian, just sounds ridiculous. Simple ones like "Rampage," "Iceman," and the "Natural" seem to work best. -

Remember when a lot of people on here were riding Kongo's jock, proclaiming him the next big thing at HW? You know who you are! As for the answer to the topic's question, Michael Bisping. Dude is just an unprofessional prick. -
UFC 94 - Georges St. Pierre vs. BJ Penn II
AboveAverage484 replied to Mik's topic in Mixed Martial Arts
Yeah, B.J. can be kind of a prick, but he can also be reserved and seem pretty nice at times. The licking blood and running back to the dressing room stuff is what kind of makes me shake my head. It's cool to show enthusiasm, but damn, act like you've done it before. GSP is almost always respectful (though he talked shit to Serra in the interviews leading up to their match, but come on, it's Serra, he gives as good as he gets) and treats his victories like another day at the office. Yeah, he shows enthusiasm with the back flip, but he doesn't scream profanities (not saying B.J. does these things), bury his opponent or put on some kind of macho, pro wrestling-like, testosterone fueled celebration. Couple that with being a freakish athlete and you have one of the most well respected fighters in the world, at least by me. -

I like both guys, but B.J. is just too weird for me sometimes. GSP -
It's no worse than much of the disrespectful bullshit that goes on post-fight in the UFC.

Cool, thanks for doing this.

I saw that today. I guess they are assuming that Rampage's legal trouples won't interfere with his fighting career and that Shogun will be injury free (no small task for him as of late). Interesting to see if Quinton has improved his clinch game, but seeing as how he is 1-3 against Chute Boxe/former Chute Boxe fighters (with the one victory being a disputed decision) tells me that he is about as good as he will get against them. Lost a lot of respect for Quinton since the Forrest fight, so it wouldn't bother me too terribly much to see Shogun beat him, then march his way back to the top for a rematch with Griffin (hopefully with a match against Chuck along the way). -
Does this have our whole squad or just the starting five that you listed?

Not going to happen... Stop living in a dreamworld. Yes, sir. Anyway, he has left the organization in the past and nobody thought Randy was going to leave either. -

If the UFC signs anyone of those fighters, I'll change my mind... But at 170, there are more valid fighters who are not in the up and coming stage who can give BJ a challenge. Therefore the best option for him right now is the welterweight division. In the UFC's current LW division, he is head and shoulders above the rest of the competition. I was thinking more along the lines of B.J. leaving to fight one or more of them in another promotion. Especially considering that a few of the guys I mentioned would have difficulties passing certain mandatory tests... -

I didn't even know the Janitor still fought. Has he been hurt or just fighting on smaller cards? -

I'd prefer B.J. to stay at 155 if only for the off chance that he will one day rematch Gomi or face Calvan, Kawajiri, Aoki, Melendez, etc. I know it's probably a long shot that any of those fights happen, but there is obviously a better chance that they will happen if he stays at his current weight. Say, for instance, that B.J. moves up to 170 and beats GSP. Where does he go from there? At least if he stays at 155 and beats one of the above he can move on to the next fighter since the competition at LW is probably the fiercest and toughest out of all the weight divisions. -
It wasn't surprising. It's great, but not the greatest of all time.
-
I loved the movie, but this is kind of ridiculous.
-
Oh, I agree wholeheartedly. I just didn't want to be the first guy to admit that they weren't really, truly impressed by Lesnar's domination of Herring. It surprised me, yes, because I thought Herring would at least put up more of a fight or try to utilize some type of submission game (please, withhold your laughter), but Lesnar's victory really didn't tell me anything other than that he's strong and has good takedowns and he can beat somebody who can be sloppy and inconsistent.
-
Well Heath is solidly in the middle as a HW; not quite good enough to be considered a top HW, but too experienced and tough to be considered a bad one. Brock still needs some work, but he definitely impressed me more than he did against Mir (obviously). As for future HW champ, I don't think so, at least not as long as Nogueira is still there. GSP probably should have finished Fitch within regulation, but Jon is tough as nails so that can hardly be considered a knock. Wouldn't fighting Kongo next be a step down for Lesnar? Or does him being a very beatable fighter for Brock have something to do with it?

All-Time NBA Draft (THE RESULTS ARE IN THE FIRST POST)
AboveAverage484 replied to Brett Favre's topic in Sports
Yeah, me too. It's kind of like the pre-season rankings and I need for my team to prove itself in actual game play. I guess it works out kind of well since 16 is a nice round tournament number. -
