Besides, Phantasy Star 1 + 2 + 4, and Shining Force 1 + 2, there aren't that many good RPGs on Genesis.
-
Extensions will be granted, as I can hopefully cut the marking time shorter, but we need to the have the discussion before the 20th, as one of the panel members will be "out of town" on that day. Edit: Still waiting for like 7 people's AIMs so I can make the AIM list.
-
Alright, for the discussion, let's try to hammer down a finalized day, and then make it a full week after the submission end date of the Top 30 lists. As I'll need at least a full week to compile the lists and get the final list created (cause of work and stuff), so while I don't mind it being awhile, at the same time it can't be too late, ya know? So let's get some dates/days at least tossed out. I'd say at least three weeks from this coming Monday myself we'll have the discussion and then take however much time is needed to produce a finalized product. So this would be the schedule: May 1st to May 8th - Submission Week May 9th to May 15th - Time for the results to be done up by myself. May 15th-17th - Discussion Day, Results (A full week, cause don't know the day). May 17th to May 23rd - When we submit the finalized column to TSM. Sounds alright? We may have to change that Discussion Day, but this should be a good timeline. As for a list of panel AIM names, send me them via PM so I can put them into a list or something. Since most people are going with this idea of the updates issue I'll agree.
-
...I get the feeling I'm going to be outnumbered on this. Can we also get end dates for Top 30s, and our discussion date?
-
Urgh... Fuck, I knew this would bite me in the ass. Panel can decide if we do this or not... I'm against since I don't think having a remake of a game is right, since it wasn't the original game and is more used as a cash cow. And of course the remakes aren't going to be the same, its why they make them as remakes. Its to polish it and add things you didn't think about before, or in ways to get rid of plotholes in a series of games.
-
Alright now then, since the panel's complete; there's only two things left: End date for the Top 30 Submissions and the date for the AIM Discussion about the results.
-
God dammit, I'm missing so many of these posts. Your in, if you still want to be, my bad. Geezus Christmas you two are nuts. I mean, you've got a freaking while until we lay down a finalized date for the end time (which I'm leaving up the discresion of the panel). Shit, I haven't even started~! ...then again, I am answering replies here, as well as waiting for Episodes 13, 14, and 15 to download of Mahou Sensei Negima to finish. Features added to a game released later don't get to count. The original game is the way it should be rated, as that's how it was intended. Unless due to a bad disc or something technical in the reason its being doubly released, then no. Original or bust. Because if we do the "not original", compilations would be included since compilations also do this. I didn't know alright. He's in if he wants to be, I honestly didn't see him ask (and I missed people). Yes they will need to be ALL ranked. Because I need to do the list thing that I suggest nearly a page or so ago.

I think we'll just stick with the Stateside stuff, because there's only a few of us who've played the imports. Oh yeah--I asked about imports, and PC/console is good question too. Flik, lay the ground rules. All games for all systems. Arcade included. However, if the game is multi-system or released on one system and then another, it will go by the original game (or in the case of multi-system, the "base" game - meaning the one with least perks). I don't mean to be a dick, but I could swear that's me asking twice to be a part of this. Am I banned from it for not frequenting this section or something? Sonuvabitch. How did I miss those? >_< Gomen sai. You've been added to the list. Compilations will not be counted as they can be touched up versions and therefore, are not true to form games. If you'd like, I've still got some panel space left if you wish to join. Sounds like you've got quite the knowledge. Another sports guy would be welcomed. You've been added to the listing.
-
Ok, we're still in need of three more judges/panelists (as I had said 11 and there's only 8). I'm unsure about the timeline we get for doing this, but I'd like to hear people's opinions on them. I'd rather have those lists handed in via PM, so that we can get a more "surprised reaction" from the 10 panelist other than me. Besides, the discussion would be from an AIM chat (as I'd like to actually post this on TSM).
-
We need spots filled, so your in. Since were gonna do this: Each will submit a list of their top 30 games along with a paragraph describing the game. We'll use my idea on how to make the finalized list (unless someone objects), and viola. We'll probably also have a discussion about said placements, cause you know, that's why its called a "panel". Sounds goods?
-
ATV Off Road Fury, SSX, and I didn't care for Tony Hawk, but yeah, I've played the Extreme Sports stuff.
-
...really? *looks at list and realizes this is so* Um, well, shit. I didn't think of that. Well, the next 5 people to be added to the panel must know sports.
-
Um... Sports nut here. Or did you not see me post up like NHL and Championship Manager threads? And yes, hence why we need 11 people, to make sure we weed out the biasism.
-
Doubt it. Probably just 2 at best. But who knows. The 11 panel does up their own lists, then given "points" based on those lists towards making the final true list. So like if (btw, none of these lists are real): AndrewTS had: 1) Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time (5) 2) Mega Man 3 (4) 3) Chrono Trigger (3) 4) Super Mario Bros. 3 (2) 5) Super Metriod (1) And Anya had: 1) Final Fantasy VII (5) 2) Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time (4) 3) Chrono Trigger (3) 4) Super Metroid (2) 5) Super Mario Bros. 3 (1) And you had: 1) Metroid Prime (5) 2) Katamari Damacy (4) 3) Halo (3) 4) Soul Calibur (2) 5) ESPN Football (1) * - (#) = points award. Real Top 5 List would be: 1)Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time (9) 2) Chrono Trigger (6) 3) Metroid Prime (5) 4) Katamari Damacy (4) and Mega Man 3 (4) 5) Halo (3) In the case of a tie, like Katamari Damacy and Mega Man 3, the one with the higher placements on everyone's list would let it get the better ranking. Halo had higher placing than either Super Metroid or Super Mario Bros. 3, so thus gets buy (even though it got 1 Top 5 vote). See? Nice and easy.

Those two deaths were much forgotten because it was on the Genesis. Have you ever noticed that whichever system has had the RPGs, has ruled the gaming industry? I mean, Nintendo vs. Master System, it was Nintendo. SNES vs. Genesis, it was Nintendo. PS vs. N64 vs. Dreamcast, it was PS. PS2 vs. GC vs. XBox, it was PS2. I mean, I find it funny that one system that pretty much has a strangle hold on that genre rules the industry.
-
Mega Man 3 is still a bitch on difficulty factor. I still have problems with Protoman and all you need to do is fucking slide. BTW, we really shoud do our own top 30 list of the past games. If were going to do it though, I suggest we make a panel for it. Like you know, the group of best gamers and such (or rather the regulars that come here). I think we should at least have 11 for the panel Thusly: CronoT AndrewTS Anayaka Lightning Flik wildpegasus Renegade Special K And some other people to make 11 for our "gaming panel" to do this Top 30 list. That would work enough. What ya think?
-
Hence why you do a Top 30, instead of 100. For a Top 30, there's a couple of games that have to make the list. These lists would be more for replability, ability to pick it up and still be good fun, and what they did for the gaming industry as well as how good they were at the time.
-
Ah, ok. that at least explains Alundra's similarities then.
-
BTW, that list = the suck. Well, maybe we shouldn't do a Top 100, as that would allow games to creep in via bias, but if we did a list via Top 30, I think we could get away with it, because there should be about 30 games that have to be on the list, and if not, the list is garbage.
-
Its not bad really. At least my ears didn't bleed like I was thinking they would when I was listening.
-
Actually, that was trying to make a what games were great from last year. I think if we got off our asses and did it up, I think we could do good. We've never had a "Top 100" of any sort. Best RPG, Best Hero, Best Villian, but not really Top anything. Hell, those best ofs, were more Clash ofs then Best ofs. We could just get a select panel to write up their top 100 games, each list giving off "points" and do up a list that way. Might work better. ...no one participated in what games were great from last year because they were pissed about the selection. Hence why I never posted the results.
-
Alundra I believe is either a prequel or sequal to Land Stalker (Genesis). Or at least I remember both characters being too similar to pass it off. The second Alundra had nothing on the first. I don't even think they were related.
-
If people are up for it, why not us do our own Top 100 list? I mean, not all that hard really. Get a bunch of people to submit a listing of the Top 100 games they have, get a panel together to make some comments about the games and hell, we could probably even post it on the main site. Just an idea.

IGN 1st: Ok, this list loses points for having Shining Force III and SD:HTCP being on the damn list. Shadow Hearts: Covenant is 90? Fuck that shit. More points lost. Phantasy Star IV at 89? This game was pretty much one of the greats for RPGs for first gen and gets written off? Travesity. Fire Emblem comes in at 51? M'kay... Wasn't expecting it to make the list at all. Xenogears gets #40. Geezus, this list is fucking wacked. 40? Xenogears? Please, this deserved to be near 60-70. Ninja Gaiden is 39? The Xbox released Ninja Gaiden? Ugh... 50ish at best. Super Mario Bros. 3 comes in at 32? What, the, fuck?! This game is Top 20. Hell, I'd say this is top 10. *looks at 31* Hello, this one comes after Mario 64? Hell no. (Super Mario World didn't make the list) ...whoever reads IGN these days really made up a shitty list. Wow... Final Fantasy VII only gets 29th? That's a shocker, would've expected it to at least make Top 10. Metroid Prime comes in at 28th and Metroid Prime 2: Echoes is 23rd? I really wanna see what makes Top 10 now. (Super Metroid didn't make the list) Final Fantasy VI makes 20th? Wow... Was expecting lower than 20th. What the fuck made Top 10? Ok, when GoldenEyes doesn't crack the Top 10 (13th), I think this Top 10 list will suck. Well, well. Legend of Zelda: Link To The Past makes Top 10 at 10. Wonderful. Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas comes in at #9. Meh, I guess I can live with it making Top 10. The original Soul Calibur ranks in at 8, and I can live with that fact. Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater is 7? Um... Fuck no. Top 11-20 at best. Geezus... God of War at 6? Ok, did they just take all the games from nowadays and went with what's the hotest stuff? Ugh... Half-Life comes in at 5, and I'm laughing at how bad this Top 100 list is. Too my shock, Chrono Trigger actually makes the list and is #4. That I can agree with. Tom Clancy's Splinter Cell Chaos Theory makes #3? Oh geezus, these readers are stupid. The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time makes #2 and I wouldn't have a problem with this except... Resident Evil 4 is #1. There, I saved everyone the trouble of looking at the list. IGN 2nd: Don't look. Honestly, don't look.

Oh, so its because Bertuzzi's got an easy name then? Well, fuck that idiotic bullshit. Seriously, kick him out for half of the next season, but ban him till Moore comes back and if Moore can't come back, you basically kill Bertuzzi's career and you make the entire fucking league a bunch of kiddes. Why a bunch of scrawny little kiddies? Because instead of checking the fuck out of people you'll either get even more clutching and grabbing because people will be worried about dishing out hits. And yes, I know that Bertuzzi was gooning, but people will back off on the checking as worried for causing an injury that's going to cause this type of backlash and go with the "safer" way out.
