  1. Something that does lend some credence to the Butch Reed story is that he had a non-title match against Steamboat that had an indecisive finish on Challenge. I think Steamboat won by countout.
  2. Another solid Online lineup. Definitely appreciated the fact we didn't get any Valentine's day nonsense. Also digging the fact that it appears we'll get 4 Raws a month from now on. Here's the lineup for the Hotbed show for those curious: Everything is JIP Tito Santana & JYD vs Terry & Hoss Funk (WM2) Royal Rumble Match 1997 Jake Roberts vs Ted DiBiase (WMVI) IC Title - Bret Hart vs British Bulldog (SummerSlam 92) Antonio Inoki vs Ric Flair (Korea) Money in the Bank (WMXXIII)
  3. Knowing Russo and TNA, I bet it's actually Senshi under that mask.
  4. . . . His opponent already in the ring from the South Pacific, weighing 300 pounds, Joe Burton.
  5. From Meltzer. Got to admit, I'm looking forward to hearing Beth Pheonix's and Kofi Kingston's themes, as long as they don't butcher them by remixing them.
  6. Hunka Hunka Honky Love!!!
  7. In kayfabe, I wonder if Cornette ever considered barring anyone from ringside during a semi-important match.
  8. I think WWF's hardon for face/heel matches at the time really hurt the tournament. Especially after teasing Savage/Steamboat and heel/heel matches on WWF TV in the weeks prior. And in the spirit of the thread:
  9. Right, Eucker. That's what I said.
  10. While others recreate epic puro matches in Fire Pro Wrestling Returns, one of my first orders of duty was to recreate the battle royal w/ Bret Hart, Bad News Brown, JYD, Ken Patera, The Bolsheviks, Hillbilly Jim, and Harley Race. Eucker: USA IS IN! YESSIR!!! *Patera gets heaved out* Ventura: Yeah, there goes USA Eucker. Eucker: Ah well.
  11. I do remember my dad's friend having it on tape (ppv version). He gave it to me to keep a little after WMV. I thought it was the coolest thing ever. A FREE WrestleMania. I've seen that battle royal probably more times than any match that jumps to mind since I'd often would try to watch it from the beginning in one sitting (as I was/am a battle royal mark). Come to think of it, the WM2 battle royal is probably my most frequently watched match. It was a nice touch to have Okerlund interview the faces and stick Eucker w/ the heels.
  12. They were color coordinated . . . but then again so were Muraco and Graham.
  13. He slammed him after the match. They played his music immediately after and he posed for 5 minutes despite being canned from the tournament.
  14. IIRC, Muraco/DiBiase was a damn fine little match.
  15. Big John Studd vs. Andre the Giant
  16. I think the show would have been remembered MUCH more fondly if Steamboat was allowed to square off w/ Savage and do the job. Steamboat could have easily shaken his hand afterwards and gesture that Savage is the better man. Would have been a much nicer sendoff than beefing w/ Hebner before losing to Valentine.
  17. Anyone else surprised they actually bothered to "weigh in" Team 3D?
  18. ........................................................................ This can't miss.
  19. Eh, there's three world titles in the company . . . sorta.
  20. I guess a semi-current example of that would be the advent of 'Extreme Rules' and how Sabu would just put people through tables in non-Extreme Rules matches . . . granted, that only lasted a month or so.
  21. I always loved it when it would appear someone would take Monsoon out of his comfort zone. I was watching the 3/88 Boston show and Outlaw Ron Bass really laid into him challenging him to enter the WMIV battle royal. Monsoon just abruptly ended the interview. IIRC, Terry Funk would also push his buttons during 1985-86 arena shows.
  22. I didn't follow wrestling when the Machines were around but if I did when I was growing up, that music would have given me nightmares for some reason.
  23. Now that Killer Khan is gone from WWF/E, I suppose he thinks it's safe for a return.
  24. Re: The Austrian strongman and the Aunt Jamima energy drink . . . Oh yeah, this can't miss.
  25. Does anyone know the name of the song used by the Jumping Bomb Angels in All Japan and the WWF during the mid-late 1980s? If anyone has it, I'd be most appreciative if it was posted.
