  3. He DID restructure his contract. The guranteed part was why he didn't go to Green Bay. Favre said he would take a cut to get the gurantee worked out. Thompson, unfortunately, was too busy drawing zoo animals in crayon on his office wall.
  4. Only if what you're smoking is packed with carcinogens & habit-forming.
  5. How can good Americans win the fight against Telletubbies now?
  6. Aside from seeing the GOP field hit a bunch of Brit Hume's softball lobs tonight we will also get several eulogies for Jerry Falwell.
  7. Bloomberg is a huge Johns Hopkins benefactor. JHU is the largest employer for Baltimore & the surrounding area. His impact there could easily swing Baltimore to him and thus the state.
  8. Presumably. I wonder if that ticket could be more than just the usual Bull Moose/Ross Perot-type spoiler. They would get the electoral votes of Nebraska & Maryland if nothing else.
  9. There is going to be an air conditioned jazz tent designed to look like an NYC club. Performing therein will be Lou Donaldson, Doctor Lonnie Smith, Jacky Terrasson, Stefon Harris, Don Bryon, Ravi Coltrane, and Robert Glasper. It will have table seating, bar service, panel discussions, and photos/album artwork on display.
  10. I have no idea why he let Shouse start the 8th. Probably wouldnt have mattered if Turnbow started anyway with the filth he brought to the mound.
  11. It would be an independant ticket.
  12. Milwaukee really came up limp in the 8th. Awful.
  13. The talk of a Bloomberg/Hagel ticket keeps getting louder. Would those two be riding in on Rocinante for you, Czech?

    Boxing Thread

Looks like I'll finally be seeing a live boxing card later this summer. Erik Morales vs. David Diaz will headline an Aug 4th ppv card in Chicago with Ricardo Torres-Kendall Holt, JCC Jr, Donovan George, and Michael Walker on the undercard so far. I will already be in town for Lollapalooza and I'll gladly leave Saturday's music early to attend this. Erik is one of my favorite fighters ever & this is probably as good a chance as he can possibly get for one more world title.
  15. Pretty good point there.
  16. Marijuana is kinda lacking in carcinogens.

Pavlik is fighting Edison Miranda in what should be a thrilling slugfest. I doubt I'll still be awake by the end of the Taylor-Spinks snoozer, though.
  18. And they voted against the latest benchmark bill anyway.
  19. Brewers got destroyed today. Season over!
  20. He's not going anywhere. He is rightfully annoyed at Thompson's adament refusal to help the offense in any. He offered to take a paycut to sign Randy Moss (who had, in fact, said he would re-structure his contract to play in Green Bay). Amazingly, Boon becomes a bigger twit with each post he makes.
  21. We've been getting a lot of these '5+ dead' days the past couple of months. I shudder to think how many more will die/be injured and how much stronger alQaeda will be allowed to get if we escalate in this fashion until at least September.
  22. I would guess it's because boxing ppvs, for the most part, sell very well and the promoters like to get that info out. The WWE, on the other hand, probably doesn't care to let the public (especially their investors) know how terrible their business is doing without someone like Meltzer/etc finding the info.
  23. Here's a story from my childhood, Banky. I sent Sparky Anderson a letter asking him for an autograph & he sent me his 1959 rookie card signed. What a nice guy!
  24. The Tigers should only get better as the season wears on & their health improves. The lack of injuries is another thing really helping Milwaukee thus far. Recently they've always run into injuries that brought about struggles (Sheets, Hardy, etc). So far the only injuries have been minor like the early-departures for Sheets/Suppan/Capuano (the bullpen saved the day each time) or the wrist injury that Corey Hart has battled through. With Hart we have seen that the offense is deeper than it has ever been in Milwaukee and his production hasn't been sorely missed.
  25. 2 or 3. His hit streak ended at 19 during one of the Nationals games where Geoff Jenkins came up big. I was unaware that the Dodgers, one of the many teams we hold a series win over, was one of the NL Central bottomfeeders as well.
