I'd probably either go for a kind of chili lobster my mother made once for New Year's (I suck at descriptions), fried duck or some spaghetti carbonara. To drink I'd go with a nice bourgogne and some cognac.

What's up with your life right now?

Currently my university work is my main priority. At this moment I'm finishing up a paper on the aesthetic developments in the filmmaking of Ingmar Bergman which should be done within an hour or two. However, I also have to write a few papers about Jacques Rivette (Rivette and the language of cinema, Rivette's characters, Rivette and film theory) as well as a 50+ page academic essay about Rivette's filmmaking that's supposed to be due in early june which I haven't even started yet. Though I believe that if I need it, I have the summer to finish the essay. So overall things are fine. -
How about someone like Ally Sheedy, Mare Winningham or Helen Slater for TJ's wife?
-
Okay, two more supporting players finalized: Jan-Michael Vincent IS Troy TJ Jansen Richard Dean Anderson IS Jackson Caprice
-
I was thinking that TJ's wife got murdered by Diablos or Tyron, which is why he holds a grudge. As for Caprice, he should be an aged playboy who's never settled down. Perhaps he could be making moves on Lola, making The Dark Prince jealous.
-
Jackson Caprice sounds like a total sleazeball. It's perfect. As for JMV, how about TJ Haggar (FINAL FIGHT~!)?
-
Yeah, Caprice is good, but I think he should have a longer first name. Alexander? Wilhelm? Anthony?
-
I'm trying to think of good names for Richard Dean Anderson's and Jan-Michael Vincent's characters. Any suggestions? EDIT: Just as a reminder, my suggestions were that RDA's character is a sleazy police captain secretly working for Tyron or Diablos and JMV were to be the "Lone Wolf with a Grudge~!".
-
No, not really. Then all the prinicpal characters for the first season are cast. Perhaps it's time to start plotting out the episodes then?
-
She will do fine. I have no idea who she is though.
-
I still think Dirk Benedict should be the top attorney for, say, Diablos. That would work so perfectly.
-
That works as well. As long as Guzman is involved somehow.
-
Luis Guzman also needs to involved in this somehow. Maybe as Diablos' brother or cousin or something. Perhaps he should make a cameo in season one and then reappear in a more prominent role in a later season. EDIT: Perhaps setting up a Hamlet storyline for later down the line, but I'm getting ahead of myself.
-
Any ideas for who could play Julia? As for Rosa Santos, perhaps Maria Conchita Alonso could work?
-
Wasn't he in that Othello movie that came out a few years ago? That could make for some nifty cross-referencing.
-
I think the cops should play semi-prominent supporting role for about the first half of the first season, that is, until the FBI comes in. This then leads to Richard Dean Anderson's character getting very nervous about the feds figuring out his connection to one of the familys (I haven't figured out which one yet). He should probably get killed in one of the last episodes of the first season.
-
It would be kind of interesting to go for a totally off-kilter Shakespeare crossbreeding in later seasons. Twelfth Night meets Richard III? The sky's the limit. Oh, and I've got a great idea for season 3 or 4. How about the Tempest? Let's say Diablos is exiled from his former turf and go from there...
-
I was thinking of ending Season 3 with an invasion by an army of Yakuza femme fatales, but yeah, that would rock as well. That could perhaps lead into an interesting Titus Andronicus variation.
-
If the Yakuza is brought in, Sho Kosugi needs to be involved somehow. And, to continue stealing from Scarface, the season finale could be the Russians storming The Dark King's villa.
-
I don't know about the hero. One could always introduce a rebellious underling who decides to break off from The Dark Prince, or use the Jan-Michael Vincent renegade cop character I introduced above, or perhaps an undercover fed who gets in really close to The Dark Prince, ala Donnie Brasco. As for the MacBeth storyline, I really think the Othello element should be introduced leading to The Dark Prince killing Lola in a fit of jealous rage towards the end of the season, leading on towards his downfall. Perhaps, to steal some stuff from Scarface, The Dark Prince's best friend could fall in love with Lola, leading to The Dark Prince killing him as well?
-
Then you could bring in Dolph Lundgren as the top Russian hitman. I am also thinking that Dirk Benedict needs to appear as a sleazy druglord that either side is trying to work out a huge deal with, or as the top defense attorney for either family.
-
While I'm continuing to work on a MacBeth-storyline for TDP, I also thought of the following: Perhaps Dutton can be brought in as a childhood friend of Tyron who ended up on the other side of the law (a bit cliched perhaps, but bear with me)? He could then (continuing with the cliches) be forced to team up with a renegade cop who carries a grudge against Diablos (preferably played by someone like Jan-Michael Vincent). One could then also bring in a crooked captain secretly working against them (played by Richard Dean Anderson). I don't know if that's any good, but the MacBeth storyline's got my imagination going.
