I agree with LooneyTune in that he'll probably squeak in. He had a career .263/.394./.588 line and aside from the SLG, there are a number of 1B that have better BA and OBP with similar SLG. McGwire was a solid fielding 1B but never did much in the field to stand out from his peers.

Rules regarding Trades Basically it'd be all trades go through unless it's grossly awful(Ex: Trading on opening day Albert Pujols for uh...a guy who has a season ending injury that everybody knows about in Spring Training). The reasoning behind this is because with majority rules, most people nix the trade because A) they fear that your team will beat theirs if it goes through or B)It's not the trade they would do. Now you can all argue about this day and night but in the end, it's what the two owners who are apart of the trade are doing and they'll do what they think is best for the team. I'd like to think everybody in this league is fairly smart as far as baseball goes so they'll presumably have a good reason for any trade they do.
