You'd be getting hosed at $300 for that system. I wouldn't even pay $300 Canadian for that today. I think I paid $600 CDN for that exact system 3 years ago. Well it does have dual processors so that would make it worth the $300 but the only boost you see is in internet browsing, Word and things that can actually make use of dual processors.

Not to be an ass or anything.... but you are aware pretty much nothing right now is written to take advantage of the Athlon 64 correct? And you bought a COMPAQ?!?! Again not to be an ass..... if you are going to spend that you should have built it yourself and have had the ability to upgrade it as you see fit. It may have been cheaper also or a tad more expensive but you save in the long run by being able to just switch out components in say 2-3 years instead of almost chucking your whole system due to it being a custom board + the cases suck. Just my opinion.
