House is an offshoot of electronic music, so no. And, offhand, I can't think of any examples of what Gene suggested, but it wouldn't be a "major" innovation, anyway.
But the poetry is exactly what makes it an innovation. Rapping doesn't involve standing there and saying a bunch of things that rhyme; there's breath control, lyrical flow, etc.
EDIT: So what I'm saying is that even a seemingly minor modification can create something totally new.
Watery, inoffensive. Plus the bartender/co-owner at my favorite bar usually gives a couple of cans to me and my pal for free at the end of a night of drinking. (It helps to already be intoxicated; I'm not high on PBR while sober.)
Sebadoh was my favorite band in high school; even when it got to the point that I hadn't listened to them in a couple of years, I still thought they were good.
I finally cut the cord last month and sold everything by them I owned. I realized well before then that I didn't like them anymore, but nostalgia can be powerful; I still remember listening to "Willing to Wait" on repeat after my first girlfriend dumped me.
I admire what you, Milky and Banky have done in this thread, but I don't have the energy to deal with such willfully ignorant people. Not anymore, anyway; the one time I went off on that kid here about Radiohead was an anomaly.
