Yeah, it looked like he got shot in the neck or throat and basically faded into unconsciousness (or death). You can say that "Reche dove on that fucker" and explain what happened, but there's no explanation for how it happened, because there is no "how"; though players are always taught a particular thing to do whenever a fumble occurs, there is no discernible skill held by football players that makes them any more pre-disposed to making more fumble recoveries than another given player in any given situation. ......... Good/great teams wait until their opponents kick themselves in the ass and then stuff those mistakes right back up there. That's been their M.O. the whole time and it works to a tee. Like I've said multiple times, the Patriots kicked themselves in the ass plenty of times yesterday, but the Chargers couldn't find the asshole, I guess (cue Czech replying "That's easy, it's Belichick"). That wasn't a "fortunate bounce": Caldwell DOVE on that fucker and held on for dear life.

Inflated a bit due to slapping around the Vikings and Packers on the road. They played REALLY well on the road overall, though. Take out those two games and it's still a solid +56.

That's fine, but if a team lets one "slip away", there has to be another team to catch it. You mean to tell me that it is ENTIRELY the Chargers fault they lost here? That Troy Brown strip, the Brady passes to Caldwell, the Stephen "He'll fold like a cheap tent under pressure because Vinatieri is the only guy that can kick in that situation" Gostkowski FG, those were all because the Chargers "let it slip away"? It takes two to tango. Brady sucked most of the game, but he pulled it out when it counted. The "better" team DID NOT WIN. Hear that, MiB? I'm admitting the Chargers were the better team, but the better team needs to still make the plays and not do boneheaded things to actually get it done in January, which the Patriots did. Like I said, three Patriot turnovers led to ZERO points for SD AND they had a bunch of possessions that started at midfield in the first half and got like one TD out of them, but that's not just because the Charger offense sat on the field with their thumbs up their asses, New England's defense kept them off the scoreboard. You talk about Patriot Fanboyism, I counter with people sick of the Patriots winning without flash and huge stars to fawn over trying to base a SIX YEAR RUN of success on "luck." EDIT: ATH is talking about LT and the postgame stuff. My take: It was a highly emotional game and winning was a giant release for them, so they got a bit (ok, more than a bit) carried away and so did LT. That's all it was.

Really? In the regular season, they only allowed 11 rushing TDs (tied for 10th in the league) and 94.2 YPG (4th in the league and best of all the remaining teams). It wasn't the rushing game that led Indy in their matchup during the season (53 yards, 2 rushing first downs, 2.1 average), it was Manning playing out of his mind (301 yards, 17 passing firsts, 7.7 average and finding Harrison for two TDs). THAT is what will be the thing to look for (along with Reggie Wayne and Clark), not Addai. Believe me, Joseph Addai is no Tomlinson.

Thinking back, I DO remember LT walking off the field with a limp and taking himself out of the game for like a play at some point in the 3rd(?). Maybe he tweaked something that slowed him down and scared off the OC from using him too much?

How about the TD drive at the end of the first half and the one that tied the game at 21? If they just need a FG, they'll just play for the FG. If Brady threw a stupid pass that got picked instead of running the clock down, he'd rightfully be CRUCIFIED by everyone.

If all the stories about his job securtity being on the rocks and him not getting along with the GM are true, it's a possibility. I wouldn't be surprised to see SD go for Pete Caroll.

NFL.com doesn't have the total 2nd half stats in their statbook, but my calculations say that they halved SD's rushing yards (something like 96-52). Wether or not that was the result of Marty shying away from LT in the second half (HIGHLY doubtful given the circumstances) or the D tightening up is something to look at later, but all I know is that the Pats were down 11 and came back while SD had chances to put the game away and failed. Whether you call it NE getting it done or SD giving it away is based on interpretation. I'd say it's more NE nutting up and making the plays when they were needed (Brady's bomb to Caldwell and the TD to Caldwell as examples).

A little, but Troy Brown made just a humongously smart play stripping the ball after that last INT. I'll have to look up the numbers, but that defense (NE's) absolutely clamped down on everything after the first quarter and a half or so.

That kick was 52 yards. Not exactly a chipshot. SD lollygagging around and burning off like 25 seconds between plays with no timeouts on that last drive was another bonehead move. Get your asses over there and get the play off.

One big stat: Charger turnovers forced: 4 Points scored off TOs: NADA Fuck "breaks", fuck "luck", THAT'S why SD couldn't get it done when they had ample opportunity to. If I was LT I'd be pissed too if I worked my ass off and got my job done but the rest of the team failed to do theirs (that challenge on Brown's strip was inexcusable and screwed them out of a timeout).

Please, they just took out the #1 seed and (arguably) the best team left on their own field, so.... Don't want them to celebrate? Beat them.
