He also just had a knee scoped, but should be back by the last two preseason games. Link He's been pretty impressive in camp so far (NFL quality routes, ridiculous hands and ups), and many observers think he's got the chance to make the most immediate impact of the Skins' 10 (10!!) draft picks this season. I wanted the Skins to draft either Quentin Groves or Jason Jones with that pick, but if he produces I'll get over it.

HOF voters can go to hell... How Cris Carter wasn't 1st ballot is a fucking disgrace. Monk should've been in YEARS ago. And Andre Reed deserves to be in as well. I agree with all of the above. Monk getting hosed for so many years ended up hosing Carter, and that's just not right. I'm absolutely shocked that Marshall's not already in. That makes NO sense at all. *image removed for ease of loading* That's not entirely accurate, though. Marion Barber had 100 yards and then Julius Jones lost 99. Just messing with you. Barber's my 2nd favorite non-Portis running back in the league and is an absolute beast...except when he's playing the Redskins. heh Like Kinetic, I can forsee Hart eventually being the backup in Indy. He's tough to bring down, got a decent burst and just flat out doesn't fumble. Sounds like a good backup RB to me. Not sure how well he does in blocking or receiving, though. If he's deficient in those areas (like many, many rookie RBs), that may slow the process a little bit. He's a good back overall, though, and I was surprised he went so late in the draft. That front office in Indy knows what they're doing, that's for sure.

Both teams played well last night. As meaningless as preseason is, both coaches had to feel pretty good about their teams.

That's pretty much my main worry about the move. That he'll be around just long enough for the offense to not quite put it all together...and then he'll retire. Here's hoping that in the next couple of drafts Vinny drops his philosophy of not drafting defensive line in the first three rounds and this all becomes a moot point. Yeah, right.

Yep. ...Same as it ever was. At least this guy can still play. However, this'll look like a straight up hosing if Taylor decides in late February to retire. I suppose the Skins put themselves in this position, not having a proven every down DE behind Daniels (or even waiting to take his job - dude was 36, what'd they expect to happen?). It still hurts a little, though, that they can't even go one offseason without having to give up a decent draft pick. Maybe this move allows the Skins to give Erasmus James even more time to heal and he becomes that guy waiting in the wings next year, as opposed rushing him back. Though, he's hardly proven at the professional level. Beast in college, though. It'll be interesting to see how Taylor reacts to playing a different position in a different defensive scheme. One good thing about this is that the Dolphins moved him around quite a bit, so it may not take him that long to get acclimated. One of the potential problems, though, is that the Skins don't get a large amount of push up the middle from their defensive tackles. However, they do have a young guy in Anthony Montgomery (6th round pick from Minnesota, 3rd year) that took the starting job last year and could be making that jump this year. If he does, add in Andre Carter, a healthy Cornelius Griffin and Jason Taylor, and the front four becomes a potentially dominating force. Potentially, that is. Still doesn't get the Skins any closer to a Super Bowl, but I suppose it doesn't hurt them either. I'll wait and see before going nuts over this, negatively or positively.

Danke schön. Actually, I've increased my posting rate to four times a year. I really need to cut back, I need more time to pretend I have an actual real life.

    News You Can (barely) Use

I've had the idea since he debuted that he should just be the 'savage' while wrestling, and then in any backstage segment he can be himself. Kind of like the Festus gimmick where competing turns him into the 'savage'. Might be too confusing, but it appears funny in my head.

    Smackdown Spoilers for 6/27/08

To be fair, Trips has lost like half a person's worth of unneccessary muscle mass since then. He also couldn't straighten one of his arms all the way. Also, Taker was still in his 'Booger Red' phase and his matches were flat out awful then. It's possible they could actually put out a decent match now. Not likely, but possible.

    OAO Raw Thread 6/23/08

Yeah, it wasn't a squash since Kofi got some moves in and did in fact have a mini-comeback right at the end there. However, it wasn't as competitive as I was expecting and it left the general impression that Kofi got his ass whupped. As opposed to coming up just short against a more experienced wrestler. That doesn't seem to be the way to get a hot newcomer over in his first exposure on the big show (no pun intended), but what do I know. Nothing, that's what. Heck, he at least managed that nifty backflip off the rope back into the ring after the irish whip. That had to count for something. I reacted negatively since I no longer enjoy JBL in the ring (helluva commentator though) and Kingston's one of the few reasons I make a half-hearted attempt to watch 'ECW' on a non-WWE site every once in a while. However, it did fit with the general theme of the evening which was 'ECW' = Raw and Smackdown's chewtoy. Tazz's commentary by the end of the battle royal was hilarious. I was half expecting him to walk out once Matt Hardy got eliminated.

Comments that don't warrant a thread

Yeah, probably replacing "Funny Car" with "Drag Racing" might have been the way to go there. Even if that headline is technically correct, it's a little offputting to anyone who doesn't know that at least one type of drag racing cars are in fact called 'Funny Cars'. Also, even if you do know that, it makes you give a double-take.

My question on the Walker robbery is where were this guy's bodyguards/posse? You'd think that after what he's gone through over the last couple of years, along with the phatty-boombatty contract he just signed, that he'd be a little wary of situations that could lead to that sort of thing. Not that I'm blaming Walker for what happened. Nobody deserves that, regardless of how careless they may or may not have been. Of course, even with a bodyguard or posse they can't be around you 24 hours a day. Still, in his position I'd hardly go anywhere without protection of some kind. Hoping this wasn't some kind of setup.

    Random Thoughts 3-27-08 to 5-28-08

Bossman. He was 'fired' the week or two before that show, and the next night on Raw he was 'hired' back. Probably one of the subtler Russo angles actually. Golddust, as it was originally named GDTV and the first few times it focused on people related to Golddust. He gets canned, it gets switched to GTV and the rest is extremely loopy history. On the other hand, I don't believe anyone was ever outed later on as being behind GTV, so I actually didn't answer your question. My bad.
