Actually.. Brett slid into third after a triple and crashed into Nettles http://www.kcstar.com/sports/brett/hofday.htm

Although Graig Nettles notices the post earlier and you wait until it's useful before you protest. "Fire them all"

I think the Royals will be facing the Yankees in April this year (in KC) and in August in New York. (Somebody can check the 2004 schedule) The Yankees/Royals game with a Royals victory and about 20 doubles was very enjoyable. And I can tell my descendents that I saw Jesse Orosco pitch live, and that he didn't even get a single out (he walked Ibanez and gave up a hit, I think)

let's put it like this.. im March 2003, if you said KC was going to contend late into 2003 but not win it, most people wouldn't believe you. They wouldn't respond by saying "DAMNIT! WHY DIDN'T WE WIN?" Cleveland was projected to be better than KC this year anyways, and if not for a rather poor stretch in September and the Twins winning like 10 games in a row in that month, who knows what happens. Maybe if former Yankees Graeme Lloyd and Jason Grimsley didn't blow so many games then KC finishes better (Pena isn't his catcher too.. granted, Grimsley was horrible with inherited runners) In games that Lloyd pitched, the Royals were 1-14. That says it all for the lefty "specialist". You can have Graeme back. Anyways, I'd say that the Twins and White Sox are going to take some losses in this offseason. Both Pohlad and Reinsdorf are huge cheapskates too. The Royals had to use massive amounts of players due to all sorts of injuries. Maybe the adjustment will be 'Immunity tablets' to prevent blisters (Affeldt), arm injuries (Snyder) and sinkers (Grimsley). Any idea if Gardenhire will be axed, or his team will be adjusted, since they failed and lost the ALDS in 4?
-
George Anglesaultbrenner, You would have fired Tony Pena for only winning 83 games, right? I'd say for a team that was projected to finish fourth, or even last in 2003, winning 83 games, being in first place for big chunks of the year and revitalizing baseball in KC is a damned good year. But.. since they didn't win it all.. I guess they gotta purge the team and start over.
-
Since every good manager takes their team to the playoffs. Jumping 21 games is NOTHING. Winning 83 in your first full year is nothing. "If I didn't give it to the guy, who, you know, lead the best team in the league" - reeeally.. well, you did say you'd give it to that Serial Killer Gardenhire, but you suggested the idea of giving it to Torre. Yeah.. they should have went all the way in the first full season for Pena. Damn them! Only winning 83 games. Winning 83 games in one year gets you fired from the job of Yankee manager. yeah.. we're really pissed at Tony for failing this year. We wish he'd stop failing and get us back to the Tony Muser days where the team won 65 games a year. Fucking Pena. Why not just give the 'Best Manager' award to the pennant winning manager, because all the other managers failed. Grady failed. Gardenhire failed (1 win? WTF? Loser!).

Fucking SI can't they devote a cover to LeBron or something? other SI covers 1/20/2003- http://i.cnn.net/si/si_online/covers/image.../0120_large.jpg 6/2/2003- http://i.cnn.net/si/si_online/covers/image.../0602_large.jpg (it took Clemens like 3 more tries to get 300 after that) 9/2/1996- http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/si_online.../1996/0902.html Fucking Steve Bono and..of course.. this http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/si_online.../1985/1028.html I think that between the time this came out and the 'published date', the Cardinals lost 3 out of 4 games and lost the world series. SI.. isn't there some Shaq/Kobe thing you can talk about?
-
Even then, they're not guaranteed to even go to the league championship, much less the world series. 83 wins after just 62 in 2002 is a damned good year. But, you hear the idiots out there claiming there was a 'choke'. Like the team that was 62-100 in 2002 was the one we all expected to win it all in 2003, but they let us down! (actually, the White Sox choked alot more than the Royals) Anyways, what makes Joe Torre more worthy of 'Manager of the Year' than Tony Pena? (this is for AS, since he is obviously pissy that Torre didn't win and Pena [who did nothing but lead KC to their first winning season since 1994] won) I bet the reason that Torre was the best was 'job pressure', 'New York prestige' or some crap like that. No idea if Torre could have managed the 2003 Royals to a better year than Pena, or if Pena would be a worse Yankee manager than Torre. MVP prediction: In the tradition of KC players topping Yankees, Beltran gets more votes than most, if not, all Yankees listed. ("Beltran didn't really do nothing, now Jorge Posada is clutch!") I preferred the "Ichiro got it, so why not Matsui?" talk.. considering that Ichiro only had an average over 60 points higher than Matsui's and all. But, I guess if Matsui had 240 hits and a .350 BA, he'd lose since EVERYBODY HATES THE YANKEES, THEY ALL WANT TO KILL THE YANKEES~~~~~!!!!!!1
-
yeah.. Pena only managed a team that won 21 more games than last year. A team that was in the race for their division as late as September (after 10 years of nothing) It's just nothing.. 62-100 to 83-79.. NOTHING NOTHING NOTHING It's pretty freaking hard to determine who's the manager of the best AL team when you file votes before the playoffs. You vote for the best manager, not the most successful. Man Anglesault, you've been unusually bitter towards the Kansas City Royals. Pena was an obvious selection for Manager of the Year. Berroa was the rookie of the year.

http://wnd.com/news/article.asp?ARTICLE_ID=35550 before we go OMG PAT BUCHANAN~!.. let's think this through.. yeah.. in most likelyhood, Saudi Arabia is in a tough spot. Considering the possibility that they would elect extremists. this may be a bit drastic but.. it's nice to see that Buchanan isn't out of work or anything.

Steinbrenner sticks head up ass again

Granted.. I'd say Ichiro had a much much better year than Matsui. (And even Ichiro had somebody vote for somebody else to deny him all 28 first place votes) Lets compare the two.. Hits Ichiro- 242 Matsui- 179 Doubles Ichiro- 34 Matsui- 42 Homers- Ichiro- 8 Matsui- 16 Total bases- Ichiro- 316 Matsui- 271 Averages- Ichiro- .350/.381/.457 Matsui- .287/.353/.435 Fielding- Ichiro- 1 error in RF Matsui- 8 errors in Left and Center Field The facts are that Ichiro had a great rookie season and Matsui didn't. Matsui's BA was 63 points lower than Ichiro's. While Matsui probably had some CLUTCH~! RBIs and all.. his rookie year wasn't good enough. The odds are that Matsui's peak season was in 2002 in Japan. Damned aging and math.. they're biased against the Yankees! -
how was I supposed to treat a guarantee from the freaking Bengels? but.. since you think one post means 'constant'

I haven't constantly posted, much less posted to taunt anybody.

http://mlb.mlb.com/NASApp/mlb/nyy/news/nyy...t=.jsp&c_id=nya what about the two writers who didn't vote for Berroa? Fucking nimrod..

4 returns for TDs puts him up there for best of all time (the record for punt and kick returns is 4, I'd say that the total record is around 6) that's not good enough? sure.. it doesn't meet the standard of God McNair, but, that's not good enough?
-
what makes you think that McNair won't get hurt again this year? who's the backup in Nashville?
-
I watched the SC segment... let me get this straight.. McNair DIDN'T practice everyday before this year? WTF?
-
no.. Crouch retired and also tried out for the Packers recently
-
Eric Crouch! SIGN ERIC CROUCH it's not like the Ravens will be throwing the ball much anyways, they can just run the option and steal from Nebraska
-
I just want to say one more thing.. I don't see Bud Adams raising his first Lombardi trophy in the city he fucked over. Something tells me that's not going to happen. I'm sure there's a fan base in Houston that isn't going to be watching the super bowl to cheer on Bud Adams. Provided that the Titans don't choke and lose in their first game. Oh yeah.. that horrible defense that has intercepted 19 passes (leading the AFC) and caused 10 fumbles (leading the AFC). KC's 11th in the AFC (but, there's a catch..), as for run defense, that's only relevant if the Titans had a runningback. Kids.. don't smoke crack here's some facts for ya! The Titans have the best run defense in the AFC and.. the worst pass defense in the AFC. I wonder if they'll let Johnnie do the worm in January. Hell, you know that Priest will get more than 73 yards (and maybe some more) Who's your bookee, Chad Johnson? Which is of course why the Titans beat the Colts and the Patriots, right? will McNair throw for over 200 yards in a road game this year? will McNair end up hurting himself this year?
-
Oooooh.. Stat Boy.. the expert on the NFL speaks! Michael Holley, the man you quote, also claims that Eric Warfield is having a great year. If you ever watched a Chiefs game, you'd catch on to the fact that Warfield sucks at covering recievers. He's good at hitting them, but not at stopping them from catching passes. As for strength of schedule, it's not KC's fault that the AFC west crumbled. 2003, the Chiefs finished last with an 8-8 record. I'd say the AFC West was pretty freaking strong then. It's not KC's problem that Gannon and the Raiders got too old for the NFL. It's not KC's problem that San Diego sucks this year. It's not KC's problem that Jake Plummer can't get off of the couch without hurting himself. Hey, I guess it's KC fault that they just happened to face the NFC Central (I bet they PAID somebody to do that) and it's their fault that they faced the fourth place teams from 2003 while poor Tennessee has to face Oakland. The Tennessee Titans suffer from one huge problem. They are choke artists. The Super Bowl, they got to the red zone, down 7 to the Rams, and they couldn't win the game. They lost the AFC title game to Oakland. Even back when they were the Oilers, they were the SUPER FUCKING AWESOME TEAM that blew a HUGE lead to the Bils, and they were also going to KILL Kansas City and go to the Super Bowl with the mind of Buddy Ryan. Maybe Jeff Fisher's the choker here. Or maybe it's McNair. Hey, I bet when you guys went 13-3 and lost your first game, you didn't run your QB or kicker out of town. (Ask Lin Elliot) Oh yeah.. don't lecture me on strength of schedule when you got the Jaguars, Falcons and Jets coming up. What the hell does strength of schedule mean after 10 weeks. That some teams that KC faced have bad records? What's the SOS looking like if you take out their loss to Kansas City? Hell Ankle.. the only time the Titans are going to Houston this year will be to play the Texans. I wouldn't rely on Randy Cross for wisdom. ""Right now, Kansas City is playing better than anyone," Cross said in a phone interview this week. "But the Chargers won the September NFL title the last couple of years, didn't they?"" “What did the Chiefs do the last time they started 4-0? They got excited and finished 8-8 and missed the playoffs.” - Randy Cross, CBS With the accuracy of Randy Cross.. I want him to keep it up, at his pace.. the Chiefs will go 19-0
-
http://bengals.enquirer.com/2003/11/10/wwwben1nte.html Uh huh.. your team, the team that still has problems decisively beating the Texans, will beat Kansas City at home. Rrrrrrrright..
