I think you should see the American version first because from my understanding, the Japanese version is better. That way, you aren't disappointed if you watch it the other way around. Dames

AC, thanks for letting me know. I've already purchased my ticket to see the original on the 30th. I'll be scared shitless on Halloween. Dames I would have gone to the one on the 30th too, except that they're showing Ringu 2 on the 26th & 27th, and Ringu 0 on the 27th & 30th. So I'll probably hit the Walter Reade Theatre on the 26th to see the first two, then see the prequel on Wednesday. Too bad these aren't out on R1 DVD. I was thinking about doing that, but the problem is that the one on the 26th is already sold out and I'd rather not the sequels just yet. Since the American version of The Ring was basically a carbon copy of Ringu, I don't want to go into seeing the American sequels (which I'm sure there will be) knowing everything. It ruins the fun. Why would they change the aspect ratio from one DVD to the next? If it's like that on the new one, it most likely is that way on the old one. Personal opinion, I don't mind the aspect ratio as long as it's widescreen and everything is still visible. Dames

I saw The Ring tonight and after initial trepidation from the previews, I was DELIGHTED that the movie was 100 times better than I thought it would be. It is a VERY creepy film and I recommend it to anyone into horror or suspense. Don't have much else to say except there are now three little girls that scare the shit out of me. The Exorcist, Angela from Sleepaway Camp 1 and the girl from The Ring. Dames
