I blame it on the loose definition of "Hypocrite" we use.
A Hypocrite is someone who thinks it's okay for them to do but not for anyone else to do. Someone who thinks they're above the rules, laws, etc., while everyone else isn't.
Unless any of them have condemned their peers for coming back after doing so themselves then I don't see them as hypocrites. Just someone who realized they were wrong and changed their mind.
