I don't know. My impression is a wish is just something you want to happen, and a prayer is something you ask God to make happen...

Vitmain X is right! I used to always drink lots of regular coke and hated the taste of diet. Now I've switched to diet and I don't like the taste of regular, it's too sweet. Diet Coke tastes good and gives me a caffeine boost with none of the calories. Anyway, I've recently started an exercize program that focues on lifting weights and doing cardio every other day, plus I do a lot of walking anyway just around campus to get to and from classes. Diet per se doesn't have a real structure to it, but I'm just trying to avoid eating things that I know are bad for me, at least in moderation. I'm trying to get myself to eat breakfast in the morning which is supposed to be good for your metabolism, eat things like eggs or oatmeal or fruit. For lunch I try to eat something like a turkey sandwich or tuna salad and use wheat or whole grain bread instead of white. I also can pasta and try to eat some vegetables too. For dinner it's lean meat like grilled/roasted chicken, pork, fish (even though I hate most fish) and of course a salad with it with oil based dressing. Or something like pasta with red sauce. In the early night I try to eat a snack too, whether it be a grilled chicken sandwich from the Chick-Fil-A at the student union or something simpler like cottage cheese or cheerios and milk. But, yeah I think the key is to get some sort of exercise or physical activity and then just watch what you eat in terms of making smart choices. I'm not really huge or anything (in fact I'm a short 5'6 but weigh about 170, so I need to lose some flab, about 15 pounds is my goal, and then hopefully some muscle to compensate). It's doable, it just takes dicipline and commitment...

MMA Comments that Don't Warrant a Thread
Styles replied to RavishingRickRudo's topic in Mixed Martial Arts
So, anyone have that gif of Rampage powerbombing/headbutting Arona into a KO out of a triangle? -
This man didn't want to buy the show... Jackson: "I don't want to buy the show" He paid the price... Jackson: "No, stop, I'll buy it now!" ....but it was too late. Silva (translated from Portugese): "Next time you will be confident in your decision to buy the show" Don't make the same mistake. Buy the show. Or Wanderlei will kick you in the face.

If this is the same 12 minute one that was up at Sherdog, it's awesome. Seriously, anyone already getting the show should watch it to pump them up even more, and if you're still debating, after watching this you don't have a pulse if you don't want to see it. Tremendous video package that profiles all the fighters showing lots of great fight footage.
-
Go ahead, underestimate him, he wants you to...
-
Let's not kid ourselves here, Peter John Ramos will be the key to Wizards playoff hopes. SK, you obviously have more patience then I do. It's what you get for rooting for a team that has been under the national radar for so long (well except for those 2 years when THAT GUY played on the team, and you'd be hard pressed to focus on anything else).
-
Well, like I said, it wasn't in order...just who came to mind. You can't be argueing that Shaq isn't a top 15 player in the league are you? DEFINITELY not. I'm not that blind in my dislike for him. But #1? I don't think so. Certainly top 5, definitely top 10. I'd say Arenas is more top 20-25 caliber. He'll be getting up there, though, with time. Hell I will make the bold prediction that Gilbert Arenas will lead the league in the scoring in a season or two. The guy can score at will, but I still don't think that makes him a great player. Fair enough. But you act as if he's just a one dimensional player and the only threat on the team. The great thing about Washington's offense that Eddie Jordan has implemented is that it doesn't rely on one guy as the go to guy to score, and as mentioned anyone can run the point because it's all about constant motion and passing. Everyone picks each other up which is why Arenas/Hughes/Jamison is the best scoring trio in the NBA. I guess it's just because they haven't had much national exposure, but I think NBA fans who have largely ignored the Wiz will see what the fans have seen all year long. No point arguing this anymore.
-
Ahahahah, whether you want to admit it or not, Gilbert Arenas has become a top 15 player. An All-Star, an All-NBA 3rd team player, the franchise player here in DC. Top 10 in the leauge in points, steals, 3-pointers, free throws, and minutes. 2nd in the league in 4th quarter points, 2nd in the league in go ahead shots in the final minute of a game. I know, you were bashing the signing when it happened. "Washington overpaid Arenas". Hell it might be true, they paid 10 mil a year for a 21 year old putting up 18/6/5. Unfortaunetly for that prediction, just a year later Arenas is putting up 25/5/5/2 and leading the Wizards back to the playoffs. Lol, Jamison and Hughes better? Why don't you ask any Wizards fan who the best player is? Why don't you ask the people at MCI who chant MVP after Arenas carries them to victory? Why don't you ask opposing coaches who have said 'Arenas is the player we can't figure out how to stop". Preach on! Although I have the "mad love" as they say for Larry Hughes. Mr. Polin better open up the wallet resign him to keep him in D.C. The great thing about this Wizards team is between the "big 3" there's a legitimate argument for who the best player is amongst them. The great thing is they all compliment each other and play so well together and cover for each other's strength and weaknesses. Jamison can't play defense, but that's ok because Hughes is a menace and steal machine and Jamison can rebound, Gilbert can look for his own shot, or deal out the assists to either of them if they're open. Either Hughes or Arenas can be counted on to hit that buzzer beater lay in on a drive when they need to. And Ripper, the only change wasn't just Jamison it was that Arenas and Hughes were HEALTHY this year. Last year, Arenas missed significant time due to injuries, this year he just sat 2 games. Larry missed significant time last year too and it seemed like every time one was back the other would get injured. Don't even get me started on Stackhouse who is made of glass last year but magically recovers this year. Hughes missed some time this year but the other 2 covered for him and kept the Wiz above float. Experience factor is big too, Arenas has another year under his belt now. The Wizards biggest detriment in my opinion is their lack of depth. They have a lot of "role" players like Michael Ruffin who rebounds and sets picks but he can't shoot to save his life. Or Juan Dixon who can put up the 3s but not much more. And it goes on and on. They also lack a domindant inside prescence. This is hopefully changing as Brendan Haywood matures and establishes himself as a top center in the East. Etan Thomas has been huge off the bench too. Kwame...is...well...he's getting better I guess... Oh, and Ripper I'd put Arenas above Marion and Davis on your list, but I guess this all comes down to subjectivness and personal opinion. Anyway, PREDICTIONS~! Heat over Nets in 5 Pistons over Sixers in 7 Pacers over Celtics in 6 Wizards over Bulls in 6 Suns over Grizzlies in 5 Spurs over Nuggets in 4 Sonics over Kings in 5 Mavericks over Rockets in 6 Yes, I see the East as more competitive. Whoddathunk!?

To a certain extent that's true, but the Torch does offer a lot of good content, discussion and analysis for a low price. Think of the Observer like a trade journal and the Torch like a popular magazine and supersite...
-
Yes. They're very informative, particularly when Meltzer delves into wrestling history. I'd agree. It's essential if you want to follow MMA and International wrestling as well, as it's covered in depth. Meltzer does do history pieces every few issues and if you are a wrestling fan they are absolutely fascinating. And I'm not talking ancient history, I'm talking WWF in the 80s/90s, stuff you'd want to know about and you will learn stuff you didn't just know from reading online. Furthermore, in terms of backstage news on WWE and TNA the Observer is still the most in depth place to get the most complete coverage, the whole story if you will. I'd highly reccomend a subscription. If it's too much for you to afford, well that's one thing, but if you can plunk down a subscription it's unfair to be copying it and distributing it online. Metlzer says he works almost 12 hours a day on it, and I believe him being that each issue is like a small book with double sided pages with the smallest print imaginable. Boy, I think Meltzer owes me royalties for that sell job. http://www.liveaudiowrestling.com/wo/store/newsletter.asp To be fair, I'll plug the Torch too. The Torch has it's advantages that many of you might find more appealing in that it's cheaper then the Observer (quite a bit if you just subscribe online like I do) and like I said you can subscribe for a cheaper rate to the online VIP subscription and you get every issue right on the computer, which is better anyway since it's put up quicker then the time you wait to recieve it in your mailbox. There's tons of online extra features included like regular audio updates where Wade and the other writers blab about the week's top stories and shows. There's also appendix features with old Torch archives you can read and reviews of shows and videos that are helpful. And you get reviews for TV shows/PPVs emailed right to you. The advantage of the Torch is if you're primarily a WWE fan it focuses mostly on that (and TNA and some indies) but doesn't give much of any coverage to MMA or international. It also has things like opinion pieces, show reviews and other such features. One of the best is the Torch Talk series which are shoot interviews with names in wrestling. The one currently ongoing is with Kevin Nash and it's really interesting. In the past names like Hulk Hogan and The Rock have done them (and those are archives on the site too). http://www.pwtorch.com/torchsubmainpg.html So, in summary, if you want to choose one newsletter, The Torch wins in terms of being cheaper, offering a boatload of online content, provided interesting interviews and feature articles and focuses a lot on WWE news and rumors. The Observer wins out in the depth of it's coverage, especially top stories and business analysis, it also has MMA and international coverage and fascinating history pieces. It lacks online features but is a more lengthy read. If you're a big wrestling/MMA fan like me who doesn't care about spending his money on both, go for it since what one lacks you get from the other. Now why did I write all that up, when you all are still just looking for online bootlegs anyway?

An excellent and extensive 10 part preview of the Pride GP from Sherdog. http://www.sherdog.com/news/articles.asp?n_id=2709
-
Sweet, that got me pumped. Got to love the Pride intro music.
-
Chicago plays D, Washington doesn't. It will be a question of which will prevail. Our triple threat persistent inside scoring will be too much for the weak Bulls to handle, especially with their big out. And we rebound like nobodies business and usually convert on those rebound. I forget how the NBA does playoff rounds, is it 2/3/2 or 2/2/1/1/1?
-
OK, thread updated with the news about Nash, Sonjay Dutt and the Preshow match.
-
It might just be Sabin vs. Shane, escape rules. I read in the Observer that Shocker is going to miss the PPV, so he's out too.
-
Hoyt is the next great challenger for Jarrett. The crowd already chants for him and everything...ok, maybe not, but I think he could turn babyface.
-
Here's the subscription info: http://www.liveaudiowrestling.com/wo/store/newsletter.asp I'm a subscriber and would reccomend to any wrestling fan to be a subscriber too. Dave puts way too much time into each issue just to have it plagearized.
-
Because there's no freakshow crap like Ogawa vs. Giant Silva vs. Akebono 3 way matches. Put that on the card and it would sell out.
-
Pride runs every 2 months like UFC (not counting their smaller Bushido shows which are only neccesarry for MMA hardcores). So the 2nd round would be in June and the semis and final in August. As for Pride DVDs. Try Suncoast video which usually has some (for 10 bucks no less). If you can find them try Return of the Warriors (PRIDE 10), Cold Fury (PRIDE 12), Collision Course (PRIDE 13) and Championship Chaos (PRIDE 17). But really you shouldn't go wrong with any of them (Im sure the more knowledgeable will correct me on that statement!)

This is tough to pick, but I'll try. *Kevin Randleman vs. Kazuhiro Nakamura Randleman by TKO. Yes, god help me, I'm picking Randleman to win a fight he should win. *Dean Lister vs. Ricardo Arona Arona by decision. This could be really close, Lister looked skilled at Bushido 6. *Igor Vovchanchyn vs. Yuki Kondo Igor by brutal KO. *Vitor Belfort vs. Alistair Overeem Overheem by decision. *Dan Henderson vs. Antonio Rogerio Nogueira Nogueira in split, close, hotly debated deicsion. *Kazushi Sakuraba vs. Yoon Dong Sik Sik's the only one I'm not familiar with. Sakuraba by submission then pulls out with injury? *Quinton Jackson vs. Mauricio Shogun Rua Hopefully Jackson by domimant KO and none of that sluggish crap again. *Wanderlei Silva vs. Hidehiko Yoshida Delicious KO. Hopefully by foot stompage again.
