Islam; now Allah tells us to ruin the Olympics too~! Normally I wouldn't have to add this, but if you couldn't tell, it sounds stupid for a reason, as in it IS stupid. Eat me. The point being that the Algerians and other minorities in France have been pissed off for a long time and something like that would allow them to make their troubles known. This isn't "ALLAH AKBAR WE MUST KILL ALL THE INFIDELS ON PRIMETIME TV!!!!!" like you thought I meant. Think of it being more like the World Trade Organization meetings in Seattle a few years back, except substitute loony hippie activists with a pissed-off minority group and a couple of guys from CNN with the entire world press. Of course you didn't mean bombing; I knew that. You meant that they would speak up or something, like become activists or complain or some shit. That's not a good reason not to hold it there, and also it's not guaranteed they'd do that.

Two things: 1) When I thought I was out of shape, I was nowhere near as bad as you guys, I still looked relatively thin, except I still carried some baby fat that just wouldn't go away. I was always the biggest kid in my family. Now I'm 5'10 and 180 lbs, and now that rugby season has started I feel in better shape than ever. 2) This thread didn't go the way Netslob planned.

I didn't know how to word it better, sorry. Basically I'm asking what it is that you're doing right now, like where you are in your life with respect to what you want it to be, and what you plan for the short/long term future. To use myself as an example, I'm finishing up high school this year, and I'm going away for the summer to work at a camp, and in September I will enroll in Chem. Eng. at a university to be named later. I don't know why I got into that, just wanted something respectable that can be useful once I graduate. I figure that any liberal arts course that I'm interested can be learned in my spare time anyway. I guess I'm pretty lucky that my parents are willing to afford the costs for this, as a lot of people I know don't have the money to go to university next year and will probably have to work in addition to getting loans. That sucks. So yeah, what's going on? I'm pretty much just wondering what's up with the rest of the board, if only out of curiousity. I've been getting in a "reminiscing/reflecting" sort of mood as the school year has been ending.

It's not meant to be taken OH SO SERIOUS~! but I think that most people in CE wouldn't like it anyway, or they'd think it's dead-on. No one really has a sense of humour. I wonder if the people in GC are as conservative as most of the people in the CE folder.

One time I went to this thing where a bunch of bulky guys just ripped phone books and did weird shit like that. They were a Christian group, but since I don't remember the message I guess they put too much focus on the wrong aspect of their presentation. Oh, and glad to hear it went well.

I was actually sifting through some old threads yesterday for no reason in GC, and came across one where that dumbass guy whose hispanic yet hates hispanic people was complaining about how he had a friend who was racist, and was REALLY trying to make a case for it, and later said his friend was black. I'm guessing that the guy's hate goes beyond Hispanic people, and to just about anyone who ain't white.

Flanker/Lock I never got this in the US; what does it mean to be "lettered"? Apparently that's very impressive, like he lettered in four sports or something like that.

There was a British comic that had Tony Blair on GWB's leash. It was two birds with one stone. I can't find the comic. Any Brit folks could lend a hand here. I mention it because I'm sure it would offend many on this board as well, if the one in this thread did.

I love Siamese Dream and thought Adore was pretty damn solid, but than I'm probably in the minority here. I used to listen to a bunch of metal, like Slayer and In Flames and all that sort of angry goodness (I don't care to find the subgenres), mixed in with some sentimental acoustic crap here and there. The only depressing music I listen to these days are The Smiths, and I'd like to keep it that way. Voted Nickelback, the best band my fair country has to offer.

The man is going to help others better their lives and you mock him. Maybe you should give a speech at your former high school and talk about how to be a disgrace of a human being. I'm sure it's an inside joke. He meant nothing by it. CWM, just be really descriptive with the examples of pain that you use. We high schoolers have high "standards" for that sort of thing.

I find a few posters whose opinion I like to hear about music/current events/actual topic, but the only ones who I find to be pretty cool outside of that is Inc., Marney, and probably AoO.

I am one of those that will disagree with you on The Cure - Disintegration, as I picked it up expecting greatness and was sorely disappointed. As for my picks: Sonic Youth - Daydream Nation Pixies - Bossanova, Doolittle, Come on Pilgrim and Surfer Rosa The Smiths – The Queen Is Dead, Meat Is Murder, Nirvana – Nevermind Radiohead – The Bends and OK Computer There are probably a lot more, but I’m going by what other would call ***** albums. While I really don’t go by star ratings, if I were to do so I’d have a much higher standard. I’m of the thought process that a ***** album means it’s perfect, and that you like it for personal reasons in addition to its technical merits. Doolittle would probably be it for me, or maybe Siamese Dream, which many would say is a ***** album as well. The Queen Is Dead too.
