Good-bye Philadelphia Eagles. At least Rush Limbaugh has something to smile about tonight.
-
Meh. Patriots/Panthers = Yankees/Marlins. Out of all the possibilities with the final 4 teams, both are the least appealing choices.
-
Man, that brings a smile to my face!!

No it didn't. RVD was already crazy over as a face dude. Cena wasn't exactly a real heel going into NM either. Come to think of it, it's much more like Jericho/RVD. It had a face and a heel that wasn't really a heel, and the crowd more or less turned to the heel by the end. The heel turns into a full face within the next two months The face turns three months later and enters the world title scene. Three months after the match, the heel got his push halted by HHH...and it looks like Cena's going to Raw! Angle/Cena=Jericho/RVD Well he was a heel in that he acted very heelish, but got cheered for doing it. (IE: He calls Angle out, runs to the back, jumps Angle, does the "you can't even see me" thing, jumps in a limo and runs away... all to a huge face pop. In that situation maybe it's time to rexamine how sympathetic your "babyfaces" are. Faces have been like that since the Attitude days. It's not like it's new or anything.

How come people always put "Funny" in the subject title when the content isn't that funny? ...... ......anyway.... That doesn't seem right. Austin/Hart, in THAT very night, got Austin completely over as a face and Hart completely over as a heel, doing a double switch. After the Angle/Cena match, Angle was still a face and technically Cena was still a heel. In the Austin/Hart match, Hart become a heel RIGHT THEN. Angle is now becoming a heel three months after the match, with absolutely none of it actually being attributed to his feud with Cena. The two matches aren't really alike at all. I've yet to hear an argument that compares the two successfully without it looking like the person is grasping for straws.

Damn, this must be one of those artsy things I never seem to get. Oh well. *scratches head and leaves*

I don't even know where to begin with that. You can start by naming a match that year that had more heat. Because I can't think of a single one, AS. And I don't care how many snide remarks or pithy comebacks you bring until you can name me one you're just wasting both our time. HBK/HHH - Last Raw of 2003. Granted it's not BEFORE Angle/Cena but it definitely had more heat.
-
Don't forget it had the buildup of Austin/Hart.

Well, I bought WrestleMania X-8 to see who would be in the Japanese shampoo ad. Man, I still laugh to myself every time I think of Edge or Booker T fighting over that shampoo.... And end sarcasm. Besides that........jeez......Austin/McMahon, Rock/Foley, Angle/Rock (No Mercy 2000 build-up) and probably some others have had some comedy elements to it. But I don't know if pure comedy has ever been the single driving cause behind a successful storyline and received good buyrates. I'm not sure if that's possible. Comedy may please the fans for a short while, but drama is what keeps them there.
-
If we're talking about catchphrases that need to return, I would personally like to hear Michael Cole go "1-2-HEGOTHIMNOHEDIDN'T!!" Come on, commentating wise, Michael Cole is practically Vince McMahon's protege. It would fit perfectly.

I know. Wasn't that whole snapping thing and "I'll break your fucking ankle" thing he did to Rock a few years ago just dreadful? <_< Kurt does comedy very well. Agreed. And sure, in certain storylines, he could do comedy if the storyline calls for it. But would it call for it in a WWE Title Eddie/Kurt match? Hell no. Did it call for it while Kurt spit milk on a woman and Brock laughed during the Brock/Kurt/Show Vengeance storyline? Again, hell no. WWE writers know nothing about moderation - which is a central rule of writing comedy for a wrestling show.
-
Nothing's wrong with comedy.....if you're good at writing it. Ass cream? T-Shirts that read "You Suck"? Necrophilia? THIS is comedy?! No, this is pathetic. These to-the-common-denominator storylines would be rejected by the writers of SNL for chrissakes. Again, comedy is good. Good comedy is better. But you can't build a title match AROUND comedy. If you're making the storyline around your #1 title a joke, then the title becomes a joke, which translates into the federation becoming a joke. I shouldn't have to scratch my head and silently not laugh to myself while watching wrestling, as if I'm watching "Frasier." I should be enthralled by the wrestling show on my television and the championship that a storyline is being centered about. But they must be doing SOMETHING wrong because right now, and for the past few months, I have not. But if Austin riding around on ATVs with a sheriff's badge keeps you entertained and transfixed to the TV, more power to you.

Statement: That cage isn't made out of chocolate, you know. Translation: *JR's stomach is growling* Statement: You're not black! You're beige! Translation: And they said I wasn't good at comebacks anymore. *Lawler pats self on back*

Well, now Ultimo Dragon can simultaneously get his Madison Square Garden/WrestleMania appearance before being cut the next day. Ah, I get all happy and fuzzy when wishes come true.

Statement: "This match seems to have bowling-shoe tendencies." Translation: "This match lacks A-Train"

Or right now. Getting back on topic... "What's he going to do with that ladder/chair/foreign object?" Gee golly, what the FUCK do you think he's gonna do with that? Genius. And in that context: RVD goes to the top rope.... JR: My gawd, what is Van Dam going to do?! Jeez, JR, I don't know WHAT the fuck he's going to do. I just figured he climbed to the top rope so he could get a better look of the popcorn vendor in the third row. Wouldn't be a frog splash.....his finishing move, would it? Nah, that wouldn't make much sense....Agh, his dumb ass comment pisses me off every time he does it.

I hope I never hear the word "Manster" from Tazz ever again. There has to be millions of labels for Brock better than that shit nickname.

Christ Here's some advice. Toughen up if that kind of language shocks and offends you. Don't worry about such little things, especially if they don't really have anything to do with you. Lighten up. With that out of the way... That was the problem. We've never even SEEN that move from Randy before. Now, we had to endure it for three minutes, with absolutely no one in the arena buying that Van Dam was going to submit. All the selling and screaming in the world wouldn't have changed the fact that Van Dam just wasn't going to submit to a leg scissors. If they were looking for a submission move to be applied for a few minutes, they should have gone for something that looks a little more painful and has been established a little more. The leg scissors is pretty much a transitional move, and using it for as long as they did just didn't work.

And you're trying to make it seem like that it was an INCREDIBLY shitty match, and that any redeeming value in it can be completely attributed to Randy Orton. The rest of the match - which you have stated you hated already - can be attributed to RVD. Orton was "on" that night and is completely responsible for any good in that match, despite the fact that he admits Van Dam led him through it. That line of thinking seems just as incorrect in this situation.
-
......what in the hell are you talking about? How could Orton be "totally on" if he was KNOCKED DIZZY!! He wasn't totally on. He LOOKED "totally on" because Van Dam was able to take proper control of the flow of the match. Personally, I thought he just looked average. At this point, Orton had a minor concussion and at some points, probably wasn't even sure what he was doing. RVD, being the ring general, was able to guide Orton through certain spots and the match looked better as a result. And ** is HORRIBLE?! Christ, you must have been raised on ***** Steamboat/Flair, Bret/Owen matches your entire life. **+ is still a pretty decent match! Doesn't change the fact that Brock's push was ENTIRELY undeserved due to his negative heat from April to August. Doesn't change the fact that, just as Brock was terribly unover, so too is Orton. Doesn't change the fact that, just because Brock turned out to be an above average wrestler, so too will Orton. And top five? Eh, I guess it's a matter of opinion. Orton said it was all RVD!! Try to understand that!!

I think it was a joke article from ESPN Unless, of course, that was what your post was about. Making a joke of a joke. Then, I would say "Good job." Not really sure at this point....

Wrestlers Upset Over Coach/Vince/Ross Fiasco
NYU replied to EdwardKnoxII's topic in TSM Classic Threads
Well, Rudo, I thought we were going over how we would handle the General Manager Urkel angle if we went a little slower. So, this is what would happen: At the PPV, it would be Randy Orton vs. Eddie Winslow for the IC Title with Urkel-Bot as the referee. Orton would get the quick advantage, but Eddie would start pounding back, rallying and getting the fans on his side. The camera would cut to Urkel in the back at the edge of his seat, gripping his plate of cheddar and mozzarella for dear life. Near the end of the match, Orton would attempt to hit the RKO but Eddie would throw him into the ropes. Orton would bounce back and WHAM! They hit each other with a double clothesline. As Urkel-Bot starts with the 10-Count, somebody comes out of the crowd with a mask on. He quickly jumps into the ring and starts bashing Urkel-Bot in his face and body with it. Sparks begin to fly out of these strained circuits, and the masked man quickly leaves the ring. Both Orton and Eddie slowly get up. Orton turns out and GETS HIT WITH THE WINSLOW WHIRLWIND!! It's over!! Eddie covers!! ..... .....but Urkel-Bot refuses to count. Eddie gets up to confront Urkel-Bot about this injustice, but Urkel Bot gives him a bone-shattering punch to the face. Eddie goes down! Orton quickly picks Eddie up, hits the RKO, and covers him for the three count. He leaves ringside with the Intercontinental Title before any possible damage could be done. But the madness in the ring has not stopped. Urkel-Bot picks up Eddie and throws him into the corner. He starts unleashing a violent series of rights and lefts into Eddie. If this weren't a character from a family television show, you would clearly see blood. The masked man hands Urkel-Bot a chair, and the metal maniac smacks Eddie right in the head with the steel chair. The crowd is in stunned silence until it pops loudly for someone running down to ringside. Who could it be? IT'S GENERAL MANAGER URKEL!! He quickly slides into the ring and attempts to slip behind Urkel-Bot to work on his circuits. But Urkel-Bot grabs Steve by his neck and hurls him over the top rope. Finally, he picks up Eddie way over his head in a gorilla press position. And dumps him over the top rope onto the steel stairs waiting in the corner. EDDIE MUST HAVE 15 CONCUSSIONS CONSECUTIVELY! The masked man comes into the ring and hugs Urkel-Bot. The robot, despite being nothing more than a series of wires and electrical charges, hugs the man back. Finally, the masked man reveals himself to be..... ..... .....WALDO!! JR: BY GAWD, HOW COULD WALDO DO THIS TO HIS BEST FRIENDS?! I HOPE HE ROTS IN HELL, THAT SON OF A BITCH!! DOESN'T HE REALIZE EDDIE WAS THE ONE THAT SET HIM UP WITH MAXINE?! WHAT A SOULESS COWARD!! And then the fans would be GLUED to tune in the next night. Stay tuned. -This thread is still way too young to die. -
Boy, if this card is right, Vince must be getting pretty pissed off right now about the entire thing being revealed But again, as it stands now, I doubt this will be the final card. Besides the fact that it's VERY questionable they planned all these matches out, too many of them classify as a "smarks dream" match.
