The 25th Anniversary of WrestleMania Thread
Coffey replied to DrVenkman PhD's topic in The WWE Folder
Mae Young & Santino? -
Have any of you ever seen the movie "Demonicus?" If you haven't, don't bother. It's hideous and looks like it was made on a budget of about $40 during the Halloween season with the costumes being bought from a local K-Mart "Seasonal Section." The main character in that movie, however, looks like Brutus Magnus. Same gimmick and everything. They both look like they bought Gladiator Halloween costumes. That being said, the last episode of iMPACT! that I watched was easily the most I've enjoyed the program in a long, long time. I thought the big ass battle royal was entertaining. I dug the sitdown interview with Beer Money & Team 3D. I even liked the random Suicide match if for no other reason than because Suicide seems to be getting over. His ending spot at the PPV was bad ass.

Chris Jericho, I just don't know what to make of him
Coffey replied to zhangmeijie's topic in The WWE Folder
I have never really liked Jericho in the ring. In WCW, I thought he had a good finish, but I was never a fan of the actual match substance. He, for the most part, has always been a good promo though. Well, at least when he wasn't getting out of hand with catchphrases when WWF went through that whole period. His heel character right now is really good because he seems to be getting genuine heat. People hate him. In 2009, that's not an easy thing to do. Well, unless you're Vickie Guerrero! -
I was banned for so goddamn long, I don't even remember most of the peeps here anymore. Did the ban list just get reset, or what?

HTQ on the debut of ECW on Sci-Fi
Coffey commented on Hunter's Torn Quad's blog entry in Straight Shooting
I concur. I didn't say it was a good idea. I always thought the women got more over when they "accidentially" showed ass anyway. Like when they were ringside valets with short skirts that ride up or whatever. Just coming out and taking off your clothes doesn't leave anything to the imagination and comes off as downright sleezy the majority of the time. -
HTQ on the debut of ECW on Sci-Fi
Coffey commented on Hunter's Torn Quad's blog entry in Straight Shooting
To be fair, Kelly did show ample amounts of ass. I agree with everything else though. This show was abyssmal. I'm not watching next week because of how bad this show was. That's saying something too because I'm a huge Shelly mark and I think she's showing up next week. One good thing to come out of all this was I got a new Sandman shirt. Of course, I had to pay twenty-eight bucks for it, but, hey, a new Sandman shirt. Not much else can be said that hasn't been said in the ECW threads in the WWE folder. Just a terrible, no good, very bad show. At least Trinity looked sexy, I guess. -
The X-Division angle with Kevin Nash
Coffey commented on Hunter's Torn Quad's blog entry in Straight Shooting
We already have alternatives to WWE. That's what Puro, current TNA and ROH are for. Not to mention older wrestling and other indies. If you mean a national alternative that marks can watch, then you need the Nash's, Sting's and Steiner's to be there. If TNA wanted us, as fans, to care about Sabin, Dutt, etc. they'd give us a reason to care about them. I'm not going to give a shit because they *might* become something months or even years down the road. If Sabin wins against Nash at the PPV, that's a step in the right direction to making people care about him. It doesn't matter how many wins he gets over other people that no one cares about. I think the Nash storyline is the best thing going in TNA right now with Joe/Steiner coming in second. I know about Nash's past and I know how this'll likely turn out...but I'm not on the TNA creative team, so I can't do anything about it. I'm going to watch it pan out and enjoy it while it happens. If/When it turns out bad, then I'll shit all over it. Wrestling is all about "what have you done for me lately?" Nash, in the past, sucked, but currently, he's making me laugh and enjoy iMPACT! on a weekly basis. Sabin cut a decent promo on Nash last week. I want to see the match. I think, so far, they're doing a good job. You certainly make good points, especially if the past is any indication. I'm just still on a wait-and-see basis because I'm willing to believe that Nash has changed. I think he does probably want to do the right thing for TNA...if for no other reason than because then he'll be a part of a relevant wrestling promotion again. First of all, it was obvious my statement that you responded to here was a joke but since you took it seriously, I will too, just for the sake of trying to make conversation: The "cornerstone of the promotion" isn't being treated as a joke. The cornerstone of the promotion is no longer the X-Division. It hasn't been for quite some time. Nash is a heel and is bad-mouthing the X-wrestlers. A lot of heels say things that the fans can agree with, they just do it in a condescending and cocky manner like Nash, so they come off as asses, thus, you boo them. That's why Ventura was such a great color man. He'd point that shit out. "You may not like him, but he make a good point, Gorilla!" I'd say the cornerstone of the promotion, right now, is Sting, Christian, Steiner, Jarrett & Joe. The main event scene. Especially with the big King of the Mountain coming up. Excluding Joe whom seems to be moving onto the main event scene, you're left with really just Styles/Daniels as far as the X-Division goes, and they've been doing tag matches. I also don't think the credibility of the X workers is being destroyed. So far, Nash had cut some promos insulting them and knocking them down. Even if you can agree with what he's saying, he's a heel, he's supposed to insult and knock down the faces. Outside of that, he's hit Jackknife Powerbombs on wrestlers that have already been defeated and it's all been postmatch where they can't defend themselves. I don't have any problems with how things have panned out so far. Honestly, I think the only reason you're so against it is because of what Nash has done in the past. Just watch it for what it is then go off on it if it turns out like you speculate it will, not before. Also, I think this would make a good topic instead of just a blog entry. Maybe make a topic about it at NMB? -
It's a lot like Danica Patrick in the Indy 500. All the build-up was surrounding her name. Then when she fell to 8th or whatever it was, they just didn't mention her again thinking people would forget. However, up to that point, it was all about Petty making sexist remarks and whatnot. What'd you have to shoot to qualify for the tour? Wie shot a 68, right? So she missed by four strokes? It's not like it was a colossal collapse or something. She'll get there.

If the Bulls were to get KG, I'd actually start watching their games again.

The Worst Horror Movie Sequals Ever Made
Coffey commented on Gary Floyd's blog entry in How To Vibrate
You know, Texas Chainsaw Massacre: The Next Generation (I think that's what it's called here, I assume it's the same movie) was the worst movie I'd ever seen for a good couple of years. Eventually Ax'Em came along and took the title...but it's still a terrible movie. Leatherface spinning in circles, Matt getting decapitated by a crop-duster, and Rene dipping in a mafia limo...worst ending I've ever seen. I did laugh when the bitch hit the chick running away in the head real lightly with a stick though. -
A lot of people have stopped fawning over you. It explains the lack of motivation. Not meant as an insult, just saying, if you come here on a daily basis expecting to contribute to the actual content of the site, you'll be left underwelmed on most days. Especially the non-Raw weekdays. Eventually, everyone "stops trying."

The X-Division angle with Kevin Nash
Coffey commented on Hunter's Torn Quad's blog entry in Straight Shooting
To be honest, outside of Joe/Daniels/Styles, the X-Division can't get over on their own anyway, so why not do this with Nash? He's a big name and it's not like the "burial" of someone like Sabin is going to cost TNA a lot of money anyway. I know it's Nash. I know it's going to turn out bad. I just don't really care because, as a fan, we don't really have any investment in the Sabin, Lethal, Dutt or Bentley's of TNA. None of them have any character. Hopefully, this'll give them a little character. I'm sure they'll look horribly inferior in some way or another but maybe, just maybe, they'll develop a little bit OUTSIDE of the ring. If not? Well, the comedy factor is there. I'm sure we'll get blown spots and blown quads ahoy.
