  1. I think I heard that Savage wanted to take on an easier shedule. Not sure if that's true...
  2. The same place that had this Bobo Brazil nonsense?
  3. Here's a paragraph of interest from the Observer's piece on Hennig after he died. It's on a related subject... “They paired Hall with Hennig as a team, since Hennig was going nowhere but they knew he was a good worker. The idea was Hennig would work almost the entire match and carry the team to good matches, and, in the process, make Hall a superstar. The two ended up being handed the tag team titles when Steve Regal (no relation to the British wrestler), who held the titles with Jimmy Garvin, quit the company to join the WWF. A fictitious match and result was announced for Albuquerque, NM, which at the time was a city where numerous bouts that never took place seemed to happen in.”
  4. I read some of this. Interesting stuff. It marks a time in my life when I was a comic fanatic (I read very littl nowadays). Next: Someone needs to do a behindthescenes of the making and developing of the Hobgoblin! Who knew what? How did Stern come up with the idea? Why did they change it?
  5. Those books suck (although not as bad as the Dark Horse comic Dark Empire or whatever it was called. Complete garbage).
  6. Because NONE of them are flocking to see episodes 1-3...
  7. Sure, this was a rematch shortly after WM3 that they did on some house shows. A damn good match, too!
  8. They needed a neel transitional champion between Bret and Diesel.
  9. Maybe. Some of the IYHs from 1995 were pretty awful, too. You do realize there wasn't anything on KOTR 95 over **. You do realize that IYH 4 didn't have anything over ** as well, featuring such dismal outings as Jannetty-Goldust, Yokozuna-Mabel, the uninspired Ramon-Douglas, and, in one of the worst main events you'll ever see, Diesel vs. the British Bulldog! 20 minutes of bad leg holds! I stand by my original statement. Try not to sound condescening next time. Well IN YOUR HOUSE was treated as an afterthought PPV at the time - a 2-hour SNME without commercials. KOTR, on the other hand, was generally regarded as one of the biggest shows of the year and - with a 3-hour running time and a $30 bill - I'd give the nod to the June show being the worst performance of the year. At least IYH had matches that, on paper, looked good. Well, I still think that that IYH is a prime canidate for worst PPV ever... along with Heroes of Wrestling!!!
  10. And we haven't even touched upon some of the bad WCW PPVs, the WOW PPV, and Heroes of Wrestling...

  13. Yeah, it is probably my narrow tastes. I've never given a subtitled movie more then two minutes on my TV before I change the channel. I personally Love Subtitled movies for obvious reasons. Like to read, do you?
  14. Did you think it was "overrated" at the time? Because you CAN'T look at matches from that far in the past and compare them to today's standards.
  15. Yeah, but it was [/i]most likely 78,000.
  16. I've never seen a movie with subtitles that I have enjoyed. Maybe this will be a first. Do you have rather narrow tastes? I just can't imagine never seeing a subtitled movie that I enjoyed.
  17. I've seen both versions. The American version is better. A real good movie that goes on for a scene or two too long.
  18. This thread is overrated.
  19. All of the above: overrated.
  20. these matches are overrated.
  21. I think every match that is in high regard will one day have a thread about it being "overrated". I'm not sure if it makes Steamboat look weak because Steele stopped Savage from cheating. What made Savage look so strong though is that he had the match won when the ref was out. I'm assuming this was done because they had plans for the Savage-Steamboat feud to continue after WM (as can be seen by the SNME following WM3). That's neither here nor there though. As for the throat thing, I thought Savage did go after it somewhat but no matter. It's still a great match despite that appalling lack of "psychology". Enjoying a great match is usually an emotional reaction so if you didn't get caught up in the excitment of watching it, I doubt anyone can say anything to make you appreciate it differently. It's not the greatest match of all time anyway; it was just 100 times more exciting than most everything else being done by the WWF at the time.
  22. No. It was a lot of fun but that's about it.
  23. If you can find any Coliseum Home Vidoes than check out the Best of the WWF Volumes 3 and 7. They both have nifty matches between the Bulldogs and the Harts. Or the Hart Foundation tape which has the title change (not a good match but it's significant) and a match of theirs from a house show in 85 or 86. These guys wrestled each other about a 1000 times so you should be able to find some matches on some WWF compilations. Their match on 4/27/85 from the Philadelphia Spectrum is probably their earliest WWF match (al part of the "tag Team Mania" show).
