Believe it or not the bowl season starts on Tuesday so figured it was time to start this thread. Obviously there will probably be a desire to have solo threads for the Rose Bowl and Sugar Bowl when those games are played but I think one thread will do for talking about the rest of the bowls. Oh and let's see if we can keep this thread from turning into another Oklahoma against the World thread for at least a little while, okay? Here is the complete television schedule for the bowl season. Tuesday, December 16 New Orleans Bowl: Memphis 27, North Texas 17 Thursday, December 18 GMAC Bowl: Miami of Ohio 49, Louisville 28 Monday, December 22 Tangerine Bowl: N.C. Orioles land Tejada in mega-deal
-
Miguel Tejada signs with the Baltimore Orioles. Edit: Link isn't working...go the cbs.sportsline.com front page and the blurb says that he signed for 6-years, $54 million.

I've been doing these since April in the WWE and General Wrestling folders but due to lack of interest and other reasons I thought of not doing them anymore. But since I have this crap all typed out already for several months I figure I'll just put it all in one thread and put in the more appropriate Old School folder. I suck. God why the fuck did I have to open my mouth three weeks ago about being red hot and now I lose three straight including to losing to the worst team in the league. Officially eliminated from the playoffs now at 6-8. Oh and...FUCK THE VIKINGS!
-
My mistake...I heard about the Chronicle article second hand and assumed the person read it correctly.
-
According to today's San Francisco Chronicle, the Tigers have offered Miguel Tejada a contract...now sit down for this one...at 7-years for $105 million. The next best offer is the Orioles at 3-years, $27 million. Wow.
-
Damnit Vern read the rules! Hey...anyone going to pick Louisville? Might just have to throw that one out. I'd change my pick but um....no.
-
Which makes it exceedingly obvious to me that he either has lost some of his of the game or he seriously needs to get hir priorities strait. If you want to be home with the Mrs. so badly that take less money and go to an inferior team, baseball is clearly no longer as important to you as it once was. Just fucking retire. Then you can be home 24/7. Wow...what an incredibly ignorant and hilarious statement. If I didn't have my SI gimmick sig going then that would be sig worthy.
-
I'd prefer Benitez over Urbina as at least Armando has been dominant at times in his career where Urbina is just about inconsistent as a closer can get. I could see a Billy Koch situation with Benitez (they're similar: flame throwers who can't always handle the pressure) where the A's get him, keep his head on straight for a year, get a good season out of him, and then ship him out after the season before he meltsdown again like Koch did with the White Sox. I just don't know mentally where Benitez is right now.
-
I know that...but what the hell are they going to do now? They have some money, should have more if it weren't for that piece of shit owner, to spend now that they lost out on their #1 priority from their own team (Foulke) and the #1 outside the team priority (Cameron). They need to save face right now and sign Tejada. They can not get back to the playoffs with the offense they have right now. C-Melhuse 1B-Hatteberg 2B-Ellis 3B-Chavez SS-Crosby LF-Kielty CF-Kotsay RF-Dye DH-Durazo They'd need Hatteberg's 2002 numbers, Chavez to breakout with a 40 homerun season, Crosby to be ROY, Kielty to breakout, Kotsay to go to his 2002 numbers, Dye to return to form, and Durazo to live up to the hype. You could get maybe 2 or 3 of those things to happen but not all of them. Oh and right now they have no closer to protect those 2-1 games that they will be in a lot.
-
Great in one day the A's lose Foulke and lose out on Cameron. This offseason is pretty near close to a disaster for them. I know with their pitching they can sleepwalk to 85-90 wins but that might not be enough to get back to the playoffs for a 5th straight year. Let's see if Steve Schott pulls a Grinch here and his heart grows really big and he re-signs Tejada at the last second before he darts to the competition in Seattle tommorrow. Ya right.
-
This is pathetic...fineeeeee you little bitch you can post results from now on if it means that much to you. I'm not Bored enough to bother anymore.
-
And right after it is the Michigan State/Kentucky, Ford Field game where they are going to try to set a new attendance record.
-
Just a PTBNL? *phew* A's have been talking to them about Lo Duca.

Now official...Cardinals trade J.D. Drew and Eli Marrero to the Braves for Jason Marquis, Ray King, and a prospect Adam Wainright (sp?).
-
More breaking news from ESPN...J.D. Drew is expected to be traded to the Braves.
-
Well pinjockey I wouldn't blame him if he hadn't been saying for the last six weeks that he would take less to stay in Oakland and even got one more guarenteed year from them. Oh and the A's offer was between $22-25 million depending on what source is providing the information. Beane never goes to these lengths to keep closers but he did for Foulke and he just wasted their time. Seriously been sitting here for the last two weeks waiting for Foulke to make his decisions and kept the A's from making other moves.
-
Wow Grady took over the #1 spot over Buckner? Yikes. Damn I don't know who the fuck is going to close for the A's now. *looks at the available closers...and sees Armando Benitez* AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH! YUJHNHNRTFGUYHJ
-
He just admitted on ESPN News that he signed for the money. Wow thanks for lying through your fucking teeth for the last six weeks Keith. I hope you cost the Red Sox the World Series and become the biggest scapegoat for them since Buckner.
